Played for six hours straight today, completely lost in it. I got home at noon, played a bit of Binding of Isaac, then started BL2 for the first time. After some really super awesome amazing fun, I look up and holy shit it's night time suddenly!

This game owns, is what I'm saying, yo. This, X-Com, Dishonored, within a month of each other. I'm fucked

Anybody tried the PC version? I'm definitely not getting this if the pc port is as offensive as the first one.

Giant Bomb specifically talks about PC issues in their review and quicklook. The tldr version is that the PC version is awesome as heck, and you don't need to worry, apparently.

Like the two before me, digging the game and i think he will have a great future. Already working on a map

I wish I had the time to work on a map. It's what I would've been doing this weekend, but my computer had a trojan rewrite a bunch of my sys files so I had to reinstall windows, yaaaay

I also played Deus Ex before Half-life 1, but HL1 was a really enjoyable experience anyway due to the environments, enemies, and narrative, imo. Also the kewl guns. Deus Ex only had kewl hand grenades, but like every gun in HL1 was enjoyable. I then went on to play a ton of HL1 mods and they were also totally wicked awesome.

Confession, though: I didn't actually OWN Half-life 1 legit until Afraid of Monsters came out, which would only properly render on a legit steam edition of the game for whatever reason. I had Half-life 2 years earlier.

Me too, it was really fun! My ping wasn't the best, but I had a lot of fun playing with you guys ;]

I can understand that. When almost every single other FPS released since 2005 uses ADS, and especially when guns in CSGO can be so inaccurate especially while moving, I can totally see getting frustrated by it at first. It's a bit different than if he had, say, says "Right now it's kind of bothersome in 2012 to play a competitive shooter that doesn't have your health regenerate" or something like that. Basic control mechanisms are muscle memory type shit, and games that defy them can throw you off.

I honestly find myself missing it when I need to shoot at someone at long range in CS. Zooming in on the FOV makes accurately aiming where I want much easier, as it makes my targets more visible.

Yeah, guns are really inaccurate while moving, and also if you are standing on a stair: I died horribly once when I was playing with HP and KungFuSquirrel in de_train because I had mistakenly walked on a small stair in the middle of the map and tried to kill a CT that was standing in front of me. I couldn't hit him because of my giant wide open crosshair, and he killed me obviously.

I believe this lack of iron sights are part of the core of CS and are one of the points that distinguish the game among the others. I have to say that I instinctively tried to zoom-in to try to see my enemy closer, but I forgot that I wasn't playing a different game. It's a lot harder to see the enemies, indeed. But IMHO that's part of the game. What isn't fair at this moment is the (already mentioned ) skins/ silhouettes of each player that makes our lives a lot harder when we have to detect if the guy in front of us is a friend or foe, in just a split second.

I agree that if he said that in regard of the health regen would be a lot worse ;D

    btw, what is "ADS"?

ADS is "Aiming Down the Sight". As far as I know, Infinity Ward (or at least Acti PR for IW games) made up the term.

Also The grayscale color correction at the beginning of a round sucks, in gungame you cant tell apart the enemies from your team at all when you respawn .

This I totally agree with. They use it as an indicator of your spawn protection, but just because you can use a filter or overlay in place of a HUD element doesn't mean you SHOULD. It's possible to be TOO minimal.

I think Demolition may be my favorite mode, even over Arms Race. I fucking love Gungame, but Demo brings in the more structured, team-based elements of normal CS in, while reducing the player counts (The rounds are much, much shorter than normal 'classic' rounds due to the games being 6v6), and keeping the metagame and variety of Gungame. Plus the maps they made for Demo are way better. Baggage is alright, but Shoots (the hut one) is a terrible way too open clusterfuck without rhyme or reason. Pretty much all the Demolition maps (especially Bank, Safehouse, Lake House, and Shorttrain (which is 4 out of 6 Demo maps btw)) are fantastic. Really makes me want to make one for myself.

I'm not finding any trouble identifying enemies. All your allies have blue marks over their heads. Personally I really like the detail put into the character models. They're context appropriate for the map settings and very detailed.

I feel like the new m4 is really, really good at accurate burst-fire, even while moving. I get lots of 'lucky' kills panic spraying at Ts that cross my path. Not so much with the AK, but the AK can get a OHKO with a headshot (which is starting to make me aware of my monitor's resolution. At 19" 1440x900, people standing just within range of the AK doing this aren't really taking up enough of my screen real estate for me to accurately point at their heads. I just as often burstfire into their shoulders and get myself killed ). The p90's also really good for semi-accurate burst fire. The dual barettas, too, I always go for them over the deagle on pistol rounds.

The guns that so far are the most frustrating for me are the shotguns. I feel like their spread patterns are just too random, and too wide right now. I'll sometimes go through four guys in a row, one shot to center mass, one kill, feeling like a terminator, and sometimes I'll empty my clip from <10ft, reload, and empty it again, die, and check the console to find I got one hit for 12 damage from all of that.

How could they screw up the menus in this game? I've had so many times where I've ended up in an unresponsive menu and had to shut down the game trhough task manager

Yeah, this is the biggest issue with CSGO right now. I find that I can avoid it by, sadly, not saying "gg" post-match. Typing while the game's getting ready to swap out the map seems to fuck it up.

Gotta say, no real interest in a new Vice City. It was a great game, but not all that different to GTA4 and its big gay expansions. SA was distinct for offering such a huge variety of environments, and I have really good memories of exploring the deserts, mountains, forests, etc — far more so than the other games and their endless city blocks and apartments. I mean, how much more gameplay can you really squeeze out of that shit at this point?

I agree. VC was good the first time through, but SA is the only GTA I find truly replayable. I love the variety and freedom the world's size gives you.

The two 'house' maps in Demolition (the one on the lake, and the one with a barn) are both super fun, and the airport map for Arms Race is also really good. Dust is fucking Dust. The other Arms Race map sucks so far, and I haven't really played anything else yet

My big complaint with CSGO is the shader fullscreen color changes look really bad on some maps. Like the gungame (sorry, "Arms Race") map that isn't the cool airport one, the one with the huts and shit, it looks terrible. Running from one end of the map to the other the game shifts the color tint of the screen like four times.

    Gameplay-wise, I like it.

Preordered. Playing CSS Gungame over the last couple days since I did, and experiencing the joys of totally shooting that guy in the head first, it's not fair that I'm dead and he's not qq. Just found a gungame server tonight that randomly every few minutes, for 60 seconds, forces everyone on the server to knife-only. It was good chaotic fun.

Serious Sam 3. The controls are floaty and hard to get used to, and it starts off on a super slow, un-serious sam foot. But once it got going (when I got a pistol finally and the suicide runners started spawning), it was just as fun as it's always been. Got to level three or four so far.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. I never finished AC2 or even played AC1, so I'm pretty confused about the current events of the game. So far I've seen some futuristic techno shit under the Vatican, killed some goons, and carried a box of flowers for a woman. Alright I guess.

The DLC for Fallout 3 / NV utterly failed to capture my attention because they were basically just more quests, in games chock full of more quests than I'll ever finish. Dawnguard for Skyrim looks like it's supposed to be adding new features and shit though, besides just more "content" (at least judging by that really awesome "what we've been experimenting with" youtube video Bethesda put out a couple months ago), and that's definitely more up my alley. I bought the DLC for Saint's Row 3 (just got the season pass during the steam sale) but haven't had a chance to play it yet.

Looks cool but I really don't like the way the character moves around... I don't know, there's something weird about how he traverses the environment without actually "climbing", and dropping down from everything in the way that he does... Looks a bit oldskool, only thing that's missing is a double jump

I like it more when there's weight behind the movement, hand-planting, etc. Not digging the cartoony style of that.

Enemies also don't really seem like a threat as a result? Blowing them away and such, I like it more when there's some struggle

Still high on my list though!

The guy was using his powers willy nilly, probably unlike you'll actually be able to do in the game. You've always got to give a bit of leeway when you're watching a gameplay demo, because they're almost always on the easiest setting and frequently using cheats or console commands for even more advantages to the 'player'.

I would say, to counter Thrink's point (though not necessarily to disagree with it), that polishing other people's base work, making them worthwhile, and being a team player is great resume/CV material. A guy who only works by himself, even if his creations are nice looking and 100% his, is unproven in a team environment.
