Absolutely fantastic work guys, looks nothing like the current maps in CSGO. How much of it is custom art? Good work

We use some CS generic content that we think could fit a french street set like this. But most of the content is custom. I would say about 75% custom art.
Otherwise thanks for your name proposals ! We're still thinking it over so please keep it up

And just a little clarification > of course we're gonna use the GIGN skin for the CT team (not the green one you can on the screenshots).

We thought about Paris but we're not sure if the name is actually copyrighted byt the city itself

anyway a name that reminds us this is located in france/ Paris would be nice to emphasise the theme

Thanks for those who came tonight (de_streets_b1). Feel free to share your feedbacks so we can improve/ change things for the next beta layout

Cheers
-
Hey Guys,
Could we postpone the playtest of de_streets_beta1 ? We have few mapcore members that we know that won't be there tonight and we'd like to have them in the playtest. Tuesday would be cool, is that possible ?

Cheers !

Hey Guys,
We'd like to setup a playtest for our upcoming CS:Go map. We started a new topic few days ago here ==>
Name is just a temporary one of course. The available map on the workshop is super straightfoward with less art as possible. We just want to experience as much as possible the layout before to go deeper into the art job. Map is located in Paris. We woul'd especially appreciate any feedbacks related to the layout such as feeling / balancing/ teamplay experience etc
We have a huge preference for Sundays at 21:00 GMT+1 but if that's not possible we can try it any Tuesdays or Thursdays.
Cheers

Hey Guys,
I just wanna add some details about this. We just wanted to add some 'art test' screenshots to be a little bit more appealing to you, so you can have a more concrete idea of what our goals are. Keep in mind that all the texture/ modeling work is still very WIP .
We're currently hardly working on the layout of the map to get a strong design before going deeper into the art job. So if you could try it with few friends and give us a maximum feedbacks about it, we would deeply appreciate it

Cheers

If you don't have the right to use the soundtrack of Inception for your reel, you shouldn't use it ...
You can give a look on Jamendo.com which contains a lot of free right music !

I think you should put up some renders of the best models/textures as well as the screenies of the level
I was just thinking about it !

thanks for comments
edit: I just Tweaked a bit the overall aspect of the website (colors and small details)

yet everything seems running well !
@ e-freak : I enlarged a little bit the global size of the website. It should improve the visibility ! But I'll try to enhance the presentation through next updates.

Hi guys,
My name is Geoffroy Espinasse and I am currently studying in the same school than Valentin Levillain.
I recently finished my portfolio and I thought it could be usefull to post it here. Even if it is based on a higly customizable theme for wordpress, I have to deal with certain limits. So keep in mind that I just can't change everything I want

thank you for your comments and criticisms !

[Blocked Image: http://www.bidoulmarc.be/baguet_release…elease_Yeah.png]The Baguet Mapping Team proudly presents the Baguet Map Pack, four brand new custom maps all ‘freshly baked and just out of the oven’.
“Be part of a US attack force striving to destroy the Axis V1 base in the Dutch town of Almere. Hundreds of English civilians are at the mercy of these vengeance weapons and it is up to you to put them out of commission”.
“Shortly after D-Day, you find yourself on the outskirts of the village of Causeways which is held by veteran German Units. Can you fight your way through the village and secure victory?”
“As part of Operation Husky, you are moving inland on the Island of Sicily. Ahead of you is a German Command centre located in a commandeered country house. The Axis troops are firmly entrenched. Can you overcome all odds and win the day?”
“In the Wildenthal area near the Ardennes Forest, the German Army has set up a Flak 18 gun battery and Freya radar station which are wreaking havoc on Allied aircraft. Your objective it to destroy the radar and AA guns…”
These are the scenarios to be played out in dod_almere, dod_causeways, dod_colonia and dod_wildenthal; four fantastic new maps that combine great looking graphics and new custom models in immersive gameplay.
Messrs Moroes, Kane, Grippy and Sli-Woody have produced maps of stunning quality which they hope will capture the imagination of the Day of Defeat: Source community. Aided in their quest to raise the bar in terms of DoD:S maps, they have been assisted by Cpt Ukulele, who has produced some tremendous looking models, Tranxen, who created some beautiful new particle effects, and Satyre, a former team member, who built perhaps one of the finest looking houses ever seen in DoD:S now part of dod_colonia.
Download the map pack today and feel the hairs rise on the back of your neck as you enter the war time environments created by the Baguet Team!

A sad news to begin with: the withdrawal of one of our members, Satyre: "I regretfully leave the Baguet Map Pack shortly before its release. Indeed, I just couldn't find the time to finish my map on schedule. School goes first, and I have to go on a mapping hyatus for the the time being. Sorry for this withdrawal at the last minute [...] ."
But do not fear! Satyre left us his map and the rest of the team is working hard on finishing it. The content of the pack won't be affected and we'll still offer four maps with totally different environments.
And so we present the fourth and last map from the Baguet project, dod_colonia, which takes place on the mountainous plateaus of Sicily during the Italian campaign. The map features an "attack/defense" gameplay: the objective for Allies is to capture a manor occupied and used as headquarters by the Wehrmacht.

Let's also add that those screenshots do not reflect Satyre's initial artistic orientation and that he will release his own version at a later date.
In other news, we're glad to (belatedly) announce that Cpt Ukulele, a 3D modeler well known in the mapping community, has joined the team. His arrival enabled us to work on more original content specially created for our maps! Here are some examples of the new models realized by the team:

And to conclude this news, here's a selection of pictures from the other maps in the pack that are nearing completion. We give you, respectively, dod_wildenthal, dod_nordhausen, dod_causeways:

QuoteDisplay MoreHere's some fresh news about our Baguet Map Pack! This time, we're going to release a bit more informations on the pack, on our objectives and on a particular environment.
The Baguet Map Pack will be composed of four small-sized maps, each with its very own style. The environments will vary a lot between each map and the gameplay is meant to be fast and fun without sacrificing the graphical immersion and the war feeling. Our objective is to bring to the Day of Defeat Source community an alternative to these orange maps. New maps with immersion, optimisation and "furious" gameplay.
Now we're going to describe one of our four environments.
The following map is Grippy's work and is set up in an eastern European forest, where a battle is about to begin. Germans are entrenched in their very last positions and are ready for the allied attack... To help you imagine the place, here's two screenshots :

A preview of the first contact zone between the two teams.

Even if the map is mostly set in an exterior environment, there's also some underground ways allowing the allied team to organize and plan their attack safely.
That's it! In the following news, we'll describe the other environments and give you a bit more informations!
Stay tuned.
The team.
