Even just a steep hill with some large boulders works nicely, it doesn't have to be completely vertical (like a cliff) inorder to create a world boundary. You can back a steep hill with another displacement in the 3d skybox and a billboard environment behind that to break up the horizon like nurb said

2 hours into a 4 hour speed sculpt competition with angel torsos as the theme

Little update for the map I'm working on for Calamity Fuse. Worked on some of the curves, added some more displacements, new textures and a fog layer. The design is based off of smooth and sloping granitic rocks from glacial movement like in Tuolumne meadows, as well as volcanic hexagonal basalt columns found in places like Devil's Postpile and Giants' Causeway

Here's an entry I did for the 3dtotal speed sculpt competition. About 4 hours work on an anthropomorphic Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life

Working on a map for a source based game called Calamity Fuse. For some reason the cubemap reflections are acting like buttholes on the rock normals, but I suppose I'll cross that bridge when I come to it
