The whole "64 tick... is a joke..." complaint is people misunderstanding the issue entirely. Valve servers suffer more from plain poor performance plus sync bugs, but this update fixed the sync issues. Of course 128 ticks/sec will still be better, as much as the 7.81ms between ticks helps, which isn't much. If you've ever watched a 120hz strobe, it's apparent how little it would help.

Uhh.. if your command (from mouse/keyboard) is getting "in between" the ticks in 64, then it sucks and it's not registered. 128 makes it less likely to happen. It's small time, but small things matter in vidya games like CSGO. Source just works weird with 128 tick on other stuff, like doors and jumping/physics (you can jump easily higher with 128 than 64).

Sorry to say but your submission breaks the contest rules.

"Remakes of older maps are NOT allowed. All works must be original to you and their layouts must not have appeared in any prior versions of Counter-Strike."

I remember this map being in CS Source.

Old map as in official one or creator's own old creation? Different things. Besides, it seems de_nadir isn't actually remake, but rework on the old map and not started from scratch. I'm not 100% sure though.

I bought this and played for an hour. I must say, it's actually quite fun. Sure, it's quite restricted (no crouch, no jump), but I still enjoy it. Besides, it was only 20e, so can't have it all I guess. I wish it had multiplayer.. then again, there's NMRiH for that. :)

According to the overview in the Imgur-link, I can see you have CT spawn where you have to go backwards to get to the sites the fastest way. I think it's not really a good idea to make players go to opposite direction from the center of the map, it's kind of disorientating.

Wow, so people were really surprised when iD said SnapMap is all you get for the modding part of the game? To me, having even the SnapMap was one hell of a surprise and big extra for the core game. :nag:

My CS map WIP doesn't show too much, but I'm impressed if you figure out the setting

Making it for the competition, but won't be complete for that. Probably 75% blocked now, removed architectural details after testing them, and most objects and shapes are placeholders for better modelled objects. After blocking and strategic objects are placed, hopefully some playtesting while I prioritize which objects to detail first after the architectural details.

More details when I make my project thread. Spent a LOT of time thinking and planning this one.

Showing a normal 3d-view Hammer-screenshot is already "eww" to me, but you took it to a whole new level with showing the wireframe-view! :B

I had an overwatch case where the guy had an obvious wallhack, and a desert eagle only aimbot.

The aimbot wobbled though, it was like it was predicting where each next shot would be and would adjust his view so that it would land where his crosshair would be pointing (if he wasn't hacking). I don't think he could see the screen shake, it was just an effect we got as a spectator. The worst bit was that when he was moving very slowly or stationary it was almost still, but the faster he moved or jumped then it went into motion sickness inducing overdrive.

And I've had a spinbotting negever... That was quite hard to watch as well

Usually when it's super-obvious hacking I'm overwatching, I just open up the "demoui" from console and fast-forward it.

Someone posted a question on gamebanana asking how I did it, and it was mostly trial and error. Guess there aren't many tutorials out there for this, so I may make one.

If it involves "Propper", then I'm aware of it. It's just, doing that stuff with displacements can't be painless. :)

[Some useful stuff, some totally dumb]

I can't tell if you're trolling with the "floaters" or not. :zoidberg: That stuff exists in every game and it really doesn't matter if player isn't seeing the gap in normal play. Also, some physics props could be floating because the physics-collision is larger than the actual model.

Be wary of teamspeak "update" files. They can be used to hijack your steam account.

First off report AMILWA(http://steamcommunity.com/id/Amilwaromyyyy) for phishing/scamming.

Earlier today I got a virus from a teamspeak update file. Basically what happened is - someone around my rank added me to play. They asked me to come into teamspeak. I never use TS but I went ahead and dl'd it. It asks me to update so I click download and run the file. Apparently this was the virus file. Immediately I realized something was fishy because it wasn't updating or perform any sort of function. I get a message from the guy going "I had to update, you too?". Then I put the pieces together and realized what was going on. I managed to trade off my items to my brother's account and lock my account in time. Within minutes he was logged into my Yahoo, Gmail and Microsoft accounts. He was even logged into my recovery gmail account. By the time he had set up email confirmations on trading to be "off" I had already locked my account and traded off my items.

I used hitmanpro to find the virus and delete it and then reinstalled windows.

So, remember if someone asks you to play and INSISTS that you use teamspeak - think again. If playing w/o teamspeak isn't an option then ditch them. I've never used teamspeak before today so I was probably the perfect victim as the "update file" looked totally legit to me. Still feel dumb for falling for this.

Waiting for steam to unlock my account.

I had similar case happening to me, but instead of Teamspeak "patch", it was anti-cheat client:

It looks pretty cool with the simple and minimalistic style, but I just feel the bombsites look really boring and empty. They could use some more detail and geometry (that doesn't have to affect gameplay actually) to spice things up. For example, the platform at A seems like very basic geometry, no edges or trims. B-site's platform-to-ground transition is super simple too. The crates/boxes could have some other angles than 90 degrees to make it bit less "gamey". I know it might be realistic this way, but I guess it's a game so it could have stuff that makes it interesting looking even if it's not 100% accurate.

Hey you people playing CSGO! Here's a short story of mine I want to share:

Some weeks (or month) ago some guy added me in Steam and I accepted, because he seemed to be legit with played hours and non-private profile (I usually just block private-profiles right away). He had chatted me about some generic stuff few times, like asking how's it going and if I'm up for a game some time and all that basic stuff. Yesterday then he asked me to join as stand-in player for some small scale match he was having. I was first surprised that I'm being asked, but thought why not, I've been in mixes before too. Prize there was 5x AWP Asiimov per team, so one for each player if winning. I didn't care really about this prize stuff, was just into having a game.

As I went to join the game he was in (I was told to just join in), I got booted out for some reason. I didn't notice the message as I pressed enter-key too quickly after load screen, but checked from console the reason I was kicked, was that I was missing an anti-cheat client (Royal Anti-Cheat). Was getting bit suspicious at this point, but then again, CEVO and ESEA both have their own clients with their anti-cheat. I asked the guy about this and he sent me link where to download that client and was telling me they're waiting already, so if I could make it bit faster. He also sent me link to a site showing how it was a legit match going on actually (was some russian site, but I just went on by quick glance and thought it was just that he was russian and linked the site he sees because of translation). The standing there was 0:1 and one player missing, while Steam's "Show Game Info" was saying it was 0:3, but not the first time things aren't perfectly synced. I went to the anti-cheat's site and it started already downloading the client right away (I have it so that I need to confirm download before making it happen), which was weird, but seen happen with legit stuff too sometimes. As I went to install it (yes, really), Microsoft's SmartScreen told it was untrusted software and that's when I finally realized that this is not legit stuff.

I told the guy about it and at the same time I went to search about the software from Google. Found a thread about it, but nowhere was it mentioned that it was for CSGO and last post by developer was in 2012. I told about it and the guy just said something, "i dunno man, people play and have it installed, was released like a year ago, just come". I responded that it's too suspicious stuff and I'm gonna pass this match, not happening. After a while, the guy removed/blocked me in Steam. I posted about the software in Reddit and few guys mentioned that it's remote-trojan and is going to gain access to your e-mail and Steam account to steal your inventory. After this, I also found a thread about similar case where someone was tricked into a match with same prizes and all, fell for it and so did his friends, all losing their inventory. The install supposedly ends in some fake error (installation error: 0x800F0906) to make it look like you didn't install it after all (SmartScreen saved me here!). I reported the user and the group in Steam about this, hopefully Valve does something about it. I did what I can, which is informing you guys.

TL:DR - Was asked to join a match as stand-in, but required to download anti-cheat client (Royal Anti-Cheat), which seemed bit suspicious, though there are ESEA and CEVO with their client programs. After Microsoft's SmartScreen warning and googling, found it indeed was a hijack attempt.

What did I learn? Fucking piece of shits trying to get my knives and inventory any means necessary and I really have to be alert all the time, trusting no one except myself.

Fuuu I wanna try Shelter but my stuipd 4 won't run it. Any way to get it to run on PC that doesn't include mirroring? Since that doesn't work either...

Ask Bethesda to compile you a PC build?

Really though, you're shit out of luck if your device can't run it. Mirroring (I assume you mean through Airplay) means it's just streaming the feed from the device, not making it run on TV/monitor of your choice.

@SotaPoika do you go for training your dwellers to be all rounders, or you go with highly specialised guys? Not sure if going on training for everything can payback… other than having something to do like I've been doing the last couple days, when I got enough people to be able to build training rooms.

got a lucky card with Three Dog, a uber charismatic, strong and agile guy, been using a lot in the radio and compensate in the supply shortages.

just revived my favourite explorer dweller, the lady I keep sending out… it started because she has low skills but she always find good stuff… I had to revive her as although she barely found enough caps to still profit from her revival… she had found the Armor Piercing Sniper Rifle!!

What I don't understand, seems like when my people came back with new outfits, I haven't always got those in the inventory 0.o

I train them to be all rounders, because then I can switch them around without problem from room to room and basically send anyone to wasteland if needed. Now by average they have 7 points in each skill, except luck (because I don't have Game Room yet). Having better skills also makes the dweller survive better in wasteland and then, I can also make him/her wear "Lucky Formal Wear", so basically all his/her stats are around 7-8.

Not sure about the outfit thing. Mine always come back with the one I sent them with. Gun changes to a better one though and then I can give the last one to someone else.

I can't believe they left android out like this... Stupid move.

    It's due in a "few months" :?

On iOS people are usually more willing to spend money on F2P titles. Also, it's easier to optimize and work on game with rather restricted platform than one with million devices, each with their own hardware.

I planned on doing smaller 2D things on the way But i do wish to continue to get ideas for the main project. As for a team i already have two voice actors and someone else who will also be doing coding with me However i did loose my graphics design person. I don't plan on a actual release for a minimum of 2 years maybe more depending on how things go.

Voice actors are like, last things you need in your project taking time. I'm no programmer, but if I was, I'd focus on simple game project(s) where I can do all myself (2d or simple-ish 3d game with pixel art and sprites) to prove my worth of getting stuff done. This attracts other skilled people to work with you when you ask help later on.

Also, use one of the existing game engines (Unity, Source, Unreal, Game Maker, Cocos2D) to learn the ropes and modify and molest the fuck out of it if you can. Writing own engine is just waste of time at this point of your skill. With only few months of experience in programming, I doubt you get far. It's not because of the skill only, but also the amount of work it takes to create new game engine.

    Just my opinion on this.

I think corner-bombsite is maybe giving the least variety in strategy as it's basically just spamming frag-nade there when someone's planting as you can't really go wrong. Also, very easy to smoke or flash too.

How big you got @SotaPoika? I just reached 26 dwellers with the latest newborns. After the (scripted?) beginning, haven't gotten any dweller from outside, have the radio up since yesterday but still no one showed up... I'm not completely sure, do tasks run in background? Or if the game is closed?

Also not sure how the health works... got to a very low 10% of happiness for everyone although they were all 50% healthy... then I noticed the red bars and slowly administering radpack to everyone, happiness was quickly back up. They are asking for party now...

You sure about skilling up by work? Because I have some people in the power stations for days and strength is still the same... built the weight room and buffing up some guys, I'm trying to create a couple of "heroes" since they joined/born with good stats. I really need a few extra guys to put on defense, cos I got some raids and they are always a pain to chase through rooms.

Speaking of defense, when anyone will try the task of sending 3 dwellers out exploring, send people without guns, I have the feeling there's a scripted event that will have you assaulted -- I got raiders with friggin' guns, luckily I still had two rifles in the inventory had stopped the bleeding. But the explorers even if they just had gone out, they can't come back in during a raid!

My Vault 717 holds 38 dwellers at the moment. I get new ones occasionally because of my Radio Station (lvl 2) with two dwellers in nightwear (for that +3 charisma). And tasks (I assume you mean the timers?) do run in the background.

As far as I know, health is tied to happiness and radiation sickness. The more radiated you are, less health your dweller has (and can't be healed past the radiation point) and thus is less happy.

By skilling up I mean't that I have all the possible variations of training rooms (so far STR, PER, END, INT, AGL) and keep dwellers there as much as possible (occasionally switching them around and assigning to jobs if running out of some resources). Have to remember to boot up the game to "collect" the skills dwellers got every hour or so, as it won't continue leveling up before the latest level is acknowledged. Also, one dweller with at least 4+ on those stats lasts way longer in wasteland than just the regular one from the beginning.

For the defense, I have 2 dwellers in Power Station (located right under Vault's entrance) with good guns and stats. I send them to the entrance room whenever I'm being attacked. After the entrance room, there's Cafeteria with 2 dwellers with good guns and average stats and nearby is another Power Station with 2 dwellers with good guns and stats, whom I send to the Cafeteria when being under attack. Raiders don't get past the Cafeteria. Actually only one of them makes it there from the entrance and dies within first seconds in the Cafeteria.

If you're under attack, the ones outside the vault will flee behind nearby rock until you've solved the situation at the vault, this includes your explorers and new dwellers.

My best weapons so far are: Tuned Plasma Pistol, Rusty Laser Rifle, Armor Piercing Sniper Rifle, Shotgun and Armor Piercing Hunting Rifle. Then some Laser Pistols and rest are some shit guns.

Here's my Vault 717 so far:
