Thanks for the advice Sentura. I agree there's some problems with the street and it's lacking atmosphere. I'll continue to refine the 3d skybox and attempt to add some more depth.

Hopefully the atmosphere improves once the cars, bins, phone booth and other street furniture are textured. I think building signage and billboards will also make a dramatic difference.

Something else I'm concerned about is the difference between the look of the interior and exterior areas. I like where both are heading individually but not sure they're working well together.

It's a BSP based engine, what do you expect?

STFU. you even have to look up at wikipedia what BSP means.

god, i hate it when "artists" talk about technical detail they know shit about (((

BSP is a simple concept, even an "artist" should understand it.

yeah like that, some are a bit more complex than that but you have the idea. take some pictures inside a theatre near you! I would for ya but I'm like super sick and screwed for finals at uni.

Yeah that one was just a trial made of brushes. I think a cardboard cutout of a DIPRIP car would look pretty cool.

    First post updated.

Thanks for the tip Robert. I tried both "LightmappedGeneric" and "VertexLitGeneric". I also tried variants of both with normal maps, neither worked though.

If you decide to do something vaguely in the vien of Minerva, you could produce a Co-Op minimod utilising Synergy . It would be interesting if you developed some puzzles or sequences that required two people to complete.

Downloaded it and it looks great. I'll reserve my comments till I've had a game on it though.

Man that was a shit movie. The highlight for me was when Tom Cruise threw a sandwich and it stuck to the window.

    Thanks guys.

Meo: Awesome idea. I made a shitty test using brushes a while back http://%7Boption%7D[Blocked Image: http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w57/m8nkey/cutout.jpg]. The final props will be destructible models. I need to hassle mods for some highres renders or concept art suitable for cardboard cutouts.

Checked it out today and it's a respectable map. The congested, multi level layout is great and I agree with Sindwiller that it's well suited to around 5 players.

I didn't find any bugs and don't have any crits.

I like the little vista visible outside the windowed outskirt and the different coloured lighting serves well as a navigational aid.

One suggestion I have is some ambient noises, purhaps some sort of liquid or pumping noises around the liquid filled cannisters.

    Nice work

Thanks for the idea Minos, I hadn't tried that.

Just tried it then and the rope just displayed pure black.

I have pretty low expectations for this one but I'm trying to get a beta key anyway. I don't even know if people outside America are eligible.

Yeah, looks like I'm just going to have to use player clip.

Any ideas for the material? Only shader that works for me is "UnlitGeneric". It isn't very noticable that it's unlit but I'm hoping there's a more suitable shader.

lol problem is that was my willow tree model I had made.. I kinda gave up on it. I was gonna get help from hessi at some point but thats having trouble materializing. that alpha shadow rendering is too awesome. I'll have to see if I can get that in my map! (but I need a tree first )

It's not a bad effort. The texturing looks alright though I think the model could be more irrigular and organic looking. You could affort to increase the polycount for such a feature I think.

I can run a listen server no problem. Running a DS on the same machine I'm playing on doesn't work though. Searching around I found some people are having the same problem with the most recent release of Gary's mod, even though it wasn't an issue previously.

I tried to host a dedicated server for TF2 last night and play on the same system. Although other people could connect to my server when I tried TF2 crashed and displayed the following message:

"Couldn’t allocate any hltv IP port"

TF2 would crash on any connection attempt to any server while I had a DS running in the background.

I know my firewall/router setup/port forwarding is fine and I've had no problems hosting servers for Zombie Panic, CSS, FoF, Synergy or DIPRIP.

I've browsed a few other forums and checked google. A few other people are experiencing the problem but I haven't seen a solution. I know I could just run a listen server but I'd prefer to work out a way to setup a dedicated one.
