    Avast! (including exclamation point).

Oh, and to answer the question the trailer posed: Does it matter? No it does not. It's all awesome. Looks great guys!

So, this game was released two days ago and no one told us anything about it, huh?

It's all part of Activision's plan. Apparently their plan is not to earn revenue on the games they fund.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's nice to know everyone is enjoying the game...and apparently some of its bugs.

For those of you who finished single player, I hope the end went a little better for you then it did for this guy.

Also, it may be good for quick reference to mention what tools you used to produce what art in your portofolio (like where you have those captions next to some of the images), this way people scanning your work can get an idea of what tools you know without having to look at your resume. I'm no artist so I could be way off.

I have done playtesting and given input/ideas on a few mods that where succesfull. Should I include that as experience? (Research & devolpment, Human Error, ect ...)

Unless the contributions were substantial I wouldn't bother. Unless you're aiming for a professional role as consultant/QA.

What about mods I 've been on in the past but failed, I did learn valuable lessons from those.

Absolutely. Failures are just as important as successes, provided you walked away with valuable knowledge. Just be sure to mention what you did take away from those failures.

Anyways, my two cents. Portfolio is looking slick .

Yeah guys, you all have valid points over the "hiring" post. This post was entirely premature and IMO should not have been made. Everything you see in that post is actually fairly outdated and isn't representative of the project's current state and direction. Sorry for giving the wrong impression.

What we're mainly looking for is 1 more dedicated mapper and 1 more dedicated environment artist. And what we mean by dedicated is that you're not going to join for a month and vanish into thin air. If you lose interest and leave that's fine, but don't pull a Houdini on us. We've had far too many people do that and it hurts the mod and pisses everyone off.

    Quote

shooting to doors yay... certainly got sense, after seeing a pic like this i would loose interest in it.

    Then bye.

For a mod that's to be set in frozen Europe, there sure seem to be no effort being put into prototyping out some frozen landscapes or scenes. Seems like a major oversight. Part of the draw of getting people to become interested in joining your team is to give them something unique to work with. Right now it looks like you've got a series of generic rooms that we've all seen enough of in HL2's universe. However, you do have a neat idea that you seem to have borrowed from the HL2 art book- and juxtaposing something new (frozen stuff) with something we've all seen (standard HL2 hallways) can provide a nice fresh look.

    Agreed.

Whats going on with the hand holding the gun, it looks like its had a 10ton truck drive over it and its all bent out of shape

I didn't even notice that until you said it. The only thing that bothered me about the hand was the thumb placement, but now that you mention it it does look like his hand is a little wonky.

Anyways, Im a little interested in the project, I want to know more about the status of development and plans for the future.

Shoot me a PM on what you want to know. Not sure what you mean by plans for the future, but I assume it's something other than "finish the mod."

It feels reasonably fresh and is much better than any previous version

In what ways? Everyone here who said they didn't like it was able to point out usability flaws to back up their opinions. How is the current version better than previous versions in terms of design?

We do hire people from outside of the US, but they would (of course) require a work visa. It's really a case-by-case situation and we work closely with our immigration attorney to complete all of the paperwork/interviews/etc.

    Good info .

Just to help out some other people on this site, what's THQ's policy regarding providing work visas? A lot of people on this site aren't from the US.

went to games, clicked on doom3 as a test, took me to the doom3 page - then i clicked the mods tab at the top (as i couldn't see any others) and it just took me to 'all mods'

The links at the top are global links. If you look under the title Doom III, you'll see another set of nav links that are context sensitive. If you click 'mods' there, it will take you to Doom 3 only mods.
