this is sad, i was rooting for you guys. i saw warby's status update a while back but i didn't consider it to be on the brink of closing down the studio. have you tried looking into kickstarter? and will you release a post mortem at some point perhaps?

so hey this is what i have been working on. so yeah, check it out if you're into oldschool shizzle. or don't, this is a forum post not a government sanctioned message.

why does your neighbourhood remind of half life 2???
-
i played through it. here's what i have to say:
first off, it's a great experience. it's weird, because the first part feels very half-life 2 inspired, but then the following 2 acts feel very different, as in it's an atmosphere i would never expect from a source game. which is very good, but i'm wondering if it was intentional? either way, i was definitely reminded of metro2033/stalker/fallout during
Quotethe underground encounters
. also, hilarious dialogue, though i did not expect less from the pairing of two comedy geniuses.
spoilers etc:
Not Safe For Work the combine stronghold is very cool, though i would have thought for something of that size the entrance to it would be more "built-up". i mean, i opened a door from a bridge and suddenly HELLO ITS THE COMBINE CITADEL, which feels very anticlimatic.also there are some things that are a little bit off. the steam in the intermission doesn't hurt you, but it does other places? i wasted some time during the intermission trying to find a route past until i found out that the steam doesn't do anything.
during the sniper encounter, it's really hard to see where you're supposed to go next. in general there are some places that are not very obvious in terms of where to go next, also inside the citadel.

That's not hype, that's what we've come to expect from games.
i don't know man, i don't think you should necessarily expect anything from a game. unless you enjoy being furious and venting frustrations about it. i reserve that right to very few games, and certainly not new IPs being tried.

I have to quote myself from another thread here:
And if your interested, I wrote a review here.
didn't notice any invisible walls, there was basically no backtracking because all the levels were loops (not arguing for or against this practice), quest system was the same as pretty much every other game? i'll give you that the ending feels a bit rushed, but definitely not so much so that the game is worse than gears of war by any means.
EDIT: reading through your review, you don't really seem to place your opinion in something concrete. you don't explain why the quest system is quote unquote ridiculous, for instance, and you seem really mad about the world not being fully destructible. seems like the only reason you really disliked the game was because you got hyped too much. i didn't have any expectations from this, other than it being post apocalyptic. granted, i probably wouldn't have bought it without an editor at release either way, but most of your criticism seems barely founded.

played through rage. it's not as bad as people give it credit for being. or at least, if it was this bad, then how can gears of war or similar games have much high acclaim?
i say this because the gunplay is pretty much the same, give or take that you don't have autocover and you can jump. the exploration aspect was pretty good, i liked the environments and the salvaging/engineering part as well. the race aspect didn't really appeal to me, but i could see it appealing to other people. how did this game get such a bad rep?
