I think it could be fun if you added cinematic moments where you see the protagonist going around shooting stuff and aliens eating them, all the while none of them really notice you. But it would be a novelty aspect for sure.

I'd honestly be more interested in the "how?" than the "when?" to take down an armored truck. It'd be so cool if you could crash a car to create a blockade to ensure it isn't going anywhere, while at the same time jam/scramble all local network communication so cellphones alarms etc. wouldn't work, then get to work on the truck itself. police is delayed x amount of time because nobody can wire it in time. that would be hella cool. I guess it's more of what Watch Dogs will offer, which is also why I'm looking forward to that compared to GTA.

I'd agree with the freedom of choice if the singleplayer missions actually allowed for that... I mean I'd love to see from how many different angles you could jump into a mission to complete it differently. Sure the game already has some, but if you could choose to e.g. plant explosives on the top of a bank to create a hole to rappel through next to the vault while panic ensues, then that'd be extremely cool. But as far as I understand, I can't do that in GTA5? I can only choose what the game lets me, which from the video seemed like a few different premade options (again, not a bad thing, but not the whole "player freedom" thing that the game tries to sell), right?

On a more serious note, I wonder why people here always have an incentive to start a witch hunt when people don't like a game title. Is it because of insecurity about your own opinions or why does it matter if someone else HAS to like it? I'd get less shit for talking about your moms, respectively.

GTA5 is still probably not going to be a bad game, I'm sure 99.9% of all people will enjoy it. I'm sure even if I played through just the campaign I'd probably enjoy some of it (if it is like where in the vid you could switch from the sniper to pin a guy down, that's pretty cool and XCOM-esque). I just don't think I'd be using any of the side elements like I assume people want to do. Or I don't know, what is the appeal here?

I'm sorry I don't obey your draconian standards for what "fun" is, but go ahead if you want to base jump cliffsides while taking in-game screenshots on your in-game phone that you will hang in your in-game apartment. I'd rather be doing that in real life than have a poor man's simulator of it. #burn

Tactical combat and pulling off heists looks fun. Rest looks meh. Probably won't buy/won't care about it when it comes out. Sandbox games in general offer too little direction for me to be interesting.

But I guess people want it so they can ride helicopters while shooting RPGs at buildings or whatever, I don't think I ever understood the GTA games very well.

Started watching "Under the Dome" which is based on a Stephen King novel. Not a bad first episode. We'll see how it goes.

ohhh shit i actually need to watch this. i'm not going to read the book since it's 1000+ pages, but the plot sounds super interesting.

Roy says the combat was a big challenge for Eidos Montréal. Early in development the studio playtested the old game’s original style of more direct fighting. “A lot of people, a menagerie of people, told us okay, ‘it doesn’t work. Ten years later, that type of gameplay doesn’t work’, said Roy. “I don’t know if you remember with the previous game? Let’s say I’ve been detected; it was really, really tough to survive. You know? It was unforgiving. Game over”.
