Am I completely INSANE? I tried watching the first episode of this and found it to be really horrible... like the worst

should I keep going or is this just not for me?

I couldn't get into the series either... I think most of those types of series drag out took long per episode, and the slow pacing makes me bored/sleepy.

I do pure creatine monohydrate, 10g/day for build up. I've been known to take 10g extra on training days, but then I remove a day from the buildup (once I get into maintenance I'll follow your advice).

It's more about logic gates imo, AND/OR/NOR, etc... When scripting you usually create systems like that and it helps when you can implement that without having to stress test for bugs. E.g. logic skills help create robust systems that won't break.

You usually think like this: This needs to happen if the player does that but if he does something else then deactivate another thing, UNLESS... this happens, etc etc.

Physics? Never had to use those, neither did I have to use statistics. I guess statistics might come in handy if you're doing gameplay balancing but I doubt someone on the lower end of the food chain would be doing that full time.

    This is basically programming =)

Vectors I would say would have impact if you were a game designer as pretty much every projectile in 3D follows vectors. Like e-freak said, math in general is good for balancing and creating design formulas (e.g. armor vs damage type calculations in Warcraft 3).

I'd like to say physics to the point where you understand what kinetic and potential energy is, as well as some wave reflections/refractions. I guess that constitutes basic physics. I don't think physics are widely used, BUT the ideas of how these things work could help you levy some of the design problems that may occur in an engine with physics - and may also help you create better shaders as a technical artist.

I think responding could be as easy as creating a 1 button macro really. I'd definitely consider scripting one myself if I were you, but then it seems you have more pressing priorities.

Started with creatine after new years, doing slow build up (2 weeks). Not really expecting huge improvements, but let's see. got my fourth training tomorrow, none of them have been really bad so far. Granted I have been sleepy at times (I worked out the day after NYE) but I had expected worse.

Late Christmas present for all of y'all! You can use it to test out combos (what works and what doesn't) and it can give off a sound so you can learn to time your combos well. Really cool, links into SFIV PC easily.

Pretty much agree with you here Thrik. When I was doing job applications it was mostly just about closure rather than anything else. Get to know which options are still available so you never put all your eggs in one basket. I don't think it's too much to ask to just send out an automated e-mail when someone has read your application and all, it's definitely what I would do was I the employer in such situation.

The first thing you posted about the flashbacks sounds like it could be linked to some sort of PTSD. It might be in your best interest to check up with a psychologist, those people can make you understand yourself better.

Anyway, thanks for telling us... I think we all live in cultures that abhor sharing personal details, so it's great to see that some still dare post their stories. It must have been a terrible situation to be in... both in the sense of the unfamiliarity and being in the hospital for so long (I don't think anybody likes hospitals), but also the sense of uncertainty about whether you get to live or not.

I don't know if people here ever think about those few people from the Core who have already passed, but this definitely made me think of them as well.

Homeland is pretty good, but the good parts seem to come in waves. Sometimes you'll sit through a lot of boring stuff but then suddenly everything turns awesome. For what it's worth, I think it portrays a very realistic view of what the CIA is like on the inside.

Finished Dead Money... Definitely recommended and well worth the money, heightened difficulty be damned. Excellent design, narrative and art (deco). I never expected to see this in DLC, and I don't regret getting it one bit.

Decided to pick up all the DLCs for new vegas and have been attempting to complete them with mixed results. My previous savegames had gone missing as well, so I spent extra time getting to a level that would unlock the DLCs. I've completed Honest Hearts so far, and I'm attempting Dead Money. Honest Hearts was interesting in terms of Van Buren lore, but really nothing special otherwise. Boring environment, not much interaction, not any interesting quests.

Dead Money on the other hand feels like what would happen if Bioshock and Fallout met in the desert. Not only is it insanely hard due to the environment literally killing you, but you have these weird shadowy creatures that you can only knock unconscious, but not kill. You have to find companions locked inside different parts of a large casino village, each armed with a skill that is useful for you, but you're limited to just having one at a time. This creates a lot of dynamic in the mechanics, but also a lot of tediousness. And sadly, that tediousness is starting to get to me despite how cool the environment, the survival horror aspect and the plot/story is. And I can only say good things about the plot: Mystery dude captures you along with 3 others in order for you to do a heist on a legendary/mythical casino that nobody has ever returned from. I'm having trouble recommending it due to the sheer problem with difficulty (you will die A LOT), but I'll be damned if I won't power through it because its premise is so fucking golden.

Watched the entire king of the hill series... the idiosyncrasies and general stupid acts of the characters was insanely infuriating. Luckily Dave Gribble is fucking hilarious and saves the day.

I also finished Homeland season 3.

Pretty much sums up the discussion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect

I think I have always been fiercely competitive, so rather than just getting let down when I see the work of others, I get angry at myself and see what I can do to make my own work even better. Or at least that is how it used to be. Nowadays it's probably less anger and more inspiration I get from seeing other people's work. I admire people who can create great compositions and visualize special relationships between objects and colors are able to give depth to a world. I've also grown much more fond of classical art, and draw a lot of inspiration from paintings from artists I wouldn't have known existed if I didn't look into it.

Also, when I'm not doing physical work I'm usually brushing up on methodologies, history and theory, which, for all the flak it gets here, is still pretty useful. I agree that in many cases studios or individuals will have their own way around creating something, especially in a subject as fluid as design, but creativity begets creativity, so even if you don't find what you're looking for, you might get inspired to try something new.
