I personally found both games better than Crysis, which simply looked prettier.

are you serious? while crysis may not be the best game ever created, it at least wasn't extremely tedious to play through... unlike both halo and gears (and killzone, for that matter)

go to camden town. actually, stay in camden town. fuck everything else. camden town is the place. if anyone tells you differently, THEYRE LYING. covent garden may also be pretty cool to check out, but it doesn't rival CAMDEN TOWN. seriously, it's the coolest place in town.

anyway preferred mode of transport to london is plane. eurostar will be fine. DONT grab your own car unless you wanna be stuck in traffic jams. use the tube/walk for transport, it's nice and some stations are very inspirational for level design too. for a hostel, i'm used to stay at one near king's cross station called ashley house. you should check it out, although i have heard rumors about them prohibiting alcohol as of late.

EA confirmed today that it’s signed ex-Infinity Ward heads Vince Zampella and Jason West and their newly-formed Respawn studio. DeMartini said EA now means serious business in the shooter space.

Actually there is no justification for making longer games. As most games longer then that do it by diluting and spreading the experience, like by copy pasting, making the actions slower, backtracking. There are only a few gameplay styles which allow for longer campaigns and even then it's questionable, like is the time spent comparing armor, moving , selling products, stat tracking, stat updating in rpg's really quality time spent. Games like SC in which every single square inch on the level is important and can greatly influence game play are much harder to design and take much longer then a dungeon in an RPG's.

i don't agree. many games with 'stages/missions' suffer from being put into a level-box that has over time become smaller and smaller, at the cost of the quality of the game. in games such as these where a certain standard of quality is always upheld, size does indeed matter. i'm not saying levels should be excessive or go beyond the point of narrative, but i certainly don't think the short campaigns like modern warfare should become the norm. i'm also not speaking of RPGs as they usually have an entirely different timescale implemented (compare 10 hours to 80 hours).

Because short campaigns are cooler in many ways.1. It takes less time to develop, so you get more games more quickly

    2. It takes less time to play through, so an investment in a game doesn't chain you to your sofa for 30 hours in order "to get your moneys worth."

On the other hand the games should be cheaper tho ^^

i think it's fairly possible to make longer campaigns by at least making use of proper level design techniques. of course these are not applicable to every game or indeed every level, but still. honestly there is no justification for making short campaigns.

there are no differences between the standard edition and the design edition, other than as stated, the design edition is created for architects. what is changed are preferences and default values (e.g. the material editor uses other default shaders, the viewports are set up differently per default).

Yeah, but thankfully we're going for a nice mixture of color correction styles throughout the game, not washed out blue like this trailer _all_ the time ^^ You can literally take in-game screenshots, edit them in Photoshop then tell the game to load the post process settings! Really cool IMO and it works.

    gotta love them programmers

i'm not going to argue in a thread like this, consider that my respects. i'm not saying i don't think it's sad or a tragedy; in fact i do think it is a grave loss for poland.

his twin brother was prime minister of poland for a long time. and there ain't no need for "mixed feelings" equivalent to what your brother does or not. this is a serious issue for poland, half theyr military chief staff being dead and the highest representant of the country.

i'm sure you don't know the details of what has been going on. i probably don't know everything either. but based on what i do know, i think the mix of feelings is adequate for the situation. i also think that you shouldn't tell people what to feel and what not to feel.
