well the only real change i wanted to the contest was from it to be "access the building through the door" to just "access the building". but yeah let's talk about it then.
-
i'd prefer if we could get started on the rules started on now or as soon as possible.
-
a bit too soon for my own schedule, but hey im not the majority... if it's the building/dooor one i'd love to participate

looks really good, but the specular map on the rocks looks off. it makes it look too smooth with the lighting.
like here [Blocked Image: http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/350488/350488,1300220081,1/stock-photo-rocks-shadow-on-the-morning-73300720.jpg]
also isnt that lighthouse way too small compared with the boat?

the thing is, it's not really a forest as it's situated on a small island. from the tests ive done on it, i've basically only gotten feedback that it is "dreamy" since it has no place in the real world. i should have said this in the beginning maybe. anyway, ill try to spruce it up with some more foresty stuff, but that imo still only covers a bit of what it could be (since i could go with it being dreamy)
i had an idea that i could maybe try and make it "corrupt" with some heavy industrialization, would that work?

i think he's trying to say that in pathelogical cases it could happen
also the point i was trying to raise before was basically "how should i make it less barren"

func_detail the hell out of your map! serious! use them a lot. if you want to cut out a window in a building: make the wall a func_detail. just beause it bares the name detail, doesnt mean you should only use it for small pieces. but remember: func_detail does not block visibility and hence it can reduce can reduce compile time drastically.
yup. set func_detail as your default entity, then just use ctrl + t to make everything func detail. also ctrl + m is transform modifier, i use this alot.

i almost forgot about this, but i made this small island scene/semi playable level for my bachelor thesis.
i've been thinking about enhancing it then putting it up, but i'd love some critique to go with it (what to improve).

it's mostly very barren as i've removed all things related to the thesis. again, critique welcome
