Just saw the trailer, man it's terrible. No subtlety, it's all Fallout references at every turn they could pack them in. Art style and architecture looks more like Borderlands than anything else now.

Guess Fallout will never be good again

I always take Extra Credit with a pinch of salt, it's a hit or miss show. Usually there isn't any argument or proofs for their claims, this is the case here. Common sense isn't proof.

I agree. It's either that or providing basic information that is already well known, OR information easily deduced from a spur of logical thinking.

It seems super interesting environment wise, though it seems very linear... I'll probably get it just for checking out the sci fi environments though

I'm excited, but the snake enemies are cheesy af. Do they also live on a desert planet with architecture reminiscent of ancient egypt? Seems to me they're trying a little too hard to follow in the footsteps of the original.

http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds if you want all the details.

    Benefits of the system

    • Games that do not work from PC or developer failure can be refunded.
    • Bad games can be refunded and developers feel the pain
    • People who buy unity asset pack resales can rescue their wallets
    • People who buy them keys and do not want them can save their wallets.
    • People can buy bad games, play for a hour, say how bad it is and get a refund because it is bad.
    • You can now get your money back instead of having that shit game sit on your library, sitting there... Mocking you...
    • All good!

    Disadvantages of the system

    • I don't even know.

Disadvantage: The money you spent goes into the steam system. You'll never get your money back, only "store credit"

I can't really say too much without going into the story etc., but it's a very well done combination of puzzles, acrobatics and combat taken to the next level through what is some of the best environmental narrative I've seen in a game ever. And to top it off, I think 'Hotel California' served as an inspiration for its creation.

It's different from conventional Fallout (I think all the DLCs tried to be this), but it still feels very much like something that would be a part of Fallout at the same time

Not really hyped or interested, but hey maybe one of the trailers will be this year's last year's No Man's Sky trailer and get hype

...Or if Bethsoft would reveal that the next Fallout has Chris Avellone behind the wheel and the announcement was that Fallout 4 would bring the gameplay of the Dead Money DLC from New Vegas, I think I would explode out of joy.

There are some good episodes but overall the main cast are just terrible. The blacklist guy just comes off as annoying and trying too hard when he's supposed to be a veteran criminal of 20 years. It doesn't make sense. There's too much deus ex machina where they just pull shit out of the plot's ass to make the story make sense. And then there's all the people on the blacklist that could probably be distilled down to people who have 1 or 2 different roles overall. The alchemist episode made me rage hard because of all the factual inaccuracies (and the stupid plot).

But it's like a trainwreck, you can't look away.

Yeah, one frame links are exactly the kind of stuff I'm referring to. It just shouldn't exist. It doesn't add to the gameplay or make it more interesting, it's just making the game impossible for anyone but top evo players.

They have multiple studios working in succession on these titles, kind of like CoD has. Considering the sheer manpower they're using I think it's slightly less impressive how they churn this out.

No I was talking exclusively about plinking. I wasn't sure whether it was exclusive or not, but either way I don't think it's meaningful to have in a game. Capcom seems to disagree however, since they deliberately redid the bug in SFIV.

I'm fine with normal links as it's a bit more of a challenge than just button mashing. I'd like to see some experimentation with linking and see how far you can take in terms of squeezing out as much skill as possible out of players without making it something you need to practice 15 years a day to perfect

I think people fool themselves into thinking links are harder to do than they are. Sure they require some practice, but it's not like something you need to train 10 hours a day to hit. I wish fighting games would do away with plinking though

Sanctioned, quality control, held responsible. Those are the differences, I am amazed some of you are still defending this terrible system. It is so unbelievably anti consumer.

The system can and will likely change, but the concept is solid and the way forward.

As for responsibility: Steam can still take down mods that are offensive if that's your issue. Quality control will develop on its own given enough time and a large enough consumer base. I don't necessarily see the need for sanctioning mods, but if this is somehow an issue, developers will likely perform any necessary changes (see responsibility clause).
