Got a problem here and I don't know whats causeing it per say other than the fact that I know the shadow is of the base of the gen.

they don't move at all, just sit there and flash in and out for different parts/planes.

someone suggested adding more light and then also adding cubemaps, neither worked

anyone know how to fix this,

ie please just don't say thats weird,

    thanks in advance

Still have to add content/structures to the side levels and main floor. and fix the strange shadow glitch thats beside the base of the generator, if someone knows what this is that would help a bunch.

Not so much a screen shot but ya, if people are interested in looking at it, its one of those in motion kinda things that a screenshot kinda wouldn't do justice.

basically its just an abstract generator type of machine for a texture gungame map. reminds some people of the movie contact I know

it will be placed inside a spherical room in the end.

just wanted to see if people like how it moves etc thats all,

sounds are definitly not final, probally go custom stuff to get a more grinding type of noise.

thanks for your input guys, and no its not inside a big box, the sky box is only over that circular opening, what looks like a big box around it is the cordon box thing to remove some ruff work things I have placed outside that map. other than that everything is sealed up right against the map edges with nodraw on them.

Alright, the map I'm trying to get to work with a normal compile just refuses too, the only option I have is to let it run overnight, and then throughout school to see if it will go past this one spot, but it shouldn't take nearly that long, a fast compile takes about 1 minute max.

Not sure if this is something I've missed in the map that for some reason extends the normal compile time to an ungodly amount that I still don't know, or just my own computer.

If nessasary I'm willing to send the file to someone if they need to look at it. just a small simple map for a GG server we run.

    [Blocked Image: http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/3852/compl1yd8.jpg]

it gets to this part within 2 minutes and then would take 8 hours and then pause at the 6 for portalflow from then on, not a single dot ever shows up.

and like I said the map isn't that big, real small

    [Blocked Image: http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/2769/mapai9.jpg]

no leaks either if your wondering, everythings sealed tight

hoping someone knows whats going on here or can help me fix this problem cause I'd like to have a map that doesn't have shitty looking shadows lighting etc.

hm, I think the horizontal ones I might play around with a plated metal texture of some kind. would go better when I make a ladder cover I think.

    thanks for the quick feedback

and Pistal whipping is the only way to go, get that nice solid bone crunching crack off the back of the head, instead of a quite slash, makes it feel like you really did just kill the guy in one hit

Not much at the moment, I'm pretty much just working on single sections and touching up, detailing, changing textures around till its perfect then moving on.

Still have some changes to make with this section. Want to add in sliding Grate for enterance into the ladder area above. Angled to match the rest around it. Place some decals here and there, add in some differences in the lighting and fix some of the lighting issues still there.

but basically this is just a sublevel access kinda area, so lighting may go darker and have some flickering and slighting different colors.

Interesting to hear other peoples ideas suggestions etc

  • Map Differs From Server Error

    • Lost
    • August 7, 2006 at 7:35 AM

Passing This along, not my map,

    anyways, heres the guys map

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/14600

Problem is that the map will just if you go to create server on your own machine but when you use a real server the map will not allow people to join.

settings are correct on the server.

    Attempts already made:

Deleted local copy and dl off server - Not work

Rename Server copy and dl - Not Work

Reuploading Map with that provided in the link - Not Work

but suffice to say, its a strange thing thats happening. theres no difference between the map on the server and that on local machine. I've even tried this on a different server than the one hes trying it on and same error.

Not sure if this is a problem with the map in some way or not. But if someone can check it to see I'll pass on the info to him.

    thanks in advance,
