    De_ruins

Like de_print, I think there's slightly too many paths, nooks and crannies. At times it's hard to get a good overview. You should take a good hard look at every route and ask yourself what each route is supposed to provide for the map's gameplay, what the benefits/drawbacks of taking that route etc. CS Layouts are supposed to be relatively simple and no corridor or route should ever be redundant. For example, there are two underpass routes from mid to the B-bombsite. Let me know when you have a moment on Steam or e-mail me the vmf and I'll give you a few suggested changes if you want me to. Also, as I mentioned in-game, the lighting and detailing is very noisy and very hard to read. I think you'll have to sacrifice the visuals a bit to make the environments playable and readable.

In any case, the general layout is very promising and could really stand out with some polish!

    De_print

As I hinted at above, I think the map has slightly too many routes and flanking opportunities, especially in the middle of the map. When I was playing CT I didn't feel like the T had to make a solid and strengthy push to move in on the bombsites, they just "leaked in" through the many possible access-points. The flow of the layout could definitely use some tweaks!

I liked the visual style of the map. It looked nice but was very helpful of the gameplay and there weren't any areas that were too noisy. I liked the outside "long" but it could perhaps be made slightly more narrow? It's veeery wide atm! All in all, it was an interesting layout and I enjoyed playing it.

As I write in every other post, people with maps are supposed to let me know if they want to have them tested (and the first post is pretty clear on that too). Unfortunately, there's been a bit of a dry period recently. To quote myself on this page:

    Quote from Puddy

If you have a map you'd like to have tested, let me know ASAP and we'll give it a go at the same time.

When it comes to the timing of the playtests, it's pretty impossible to nail down a time that's suitable for everyone. To me it's better to just get a time down and then people can let us know if it's very unsuitable, instead of having a two-page back and forth discussion each time we want to playtest. Also, this MapCore server is pretty EU-centric since it's based in Europe and run by admins in Europe. This means that it's only natural that a playtest will usually be during a bad time on either continent.

3dnj: Let me know details on Steam.

Also, to re-iterate, we have a playtest session Tomorrow, Tuesday at 21:00 GMT (20:00 GMT). Contact me for adding maps to this session or if you'd like to have your map tested at another time.

All right guys, I've done quite a lot of tweaks changes and have a few more planned. Tuesday should be a good day to test again! We'll play at 21.00 GMT+1 (20:00 GMT).

    Changelog (so far):

[*]Reduced size of atrium (length and width).

[*]Reduced size of lobby (near CT spawn).

    [*]Added cover in atrium.

[*]Modified the staircase that CT take to get to the offices. It is now closer to their spawn and has been modified to be safer for them to use.

[*]Modified the staircase at the back of T-spawn. It is now smaller and the layout has been simplified.

[*]Some punishing AWP sniper angles have been removed.

[*]Modified offices to give the CT side more cover.

[*]Modified the flanking route to give CT a better chance of pushing in (the route that you take when you go right out of CT spawn).
[/list]EDIT: Tuesday is actually better. Tuesday it is!

I haven't followed this all too much but I think it's still a bit too dark. CS maps have to be readable!

A big shout out to everyone who participated. It might not be the most fun to play the same unfinished, un-arted layout over and over but it's soooooooooooo helpful to me that it's insane. I hope you'll agree that the map was an improvement from last time and I aim to make it even better for next time! Let me know any and all feedback you might have and I'll incorporate it into the next version.

    Huge love from me. <3333

EDIT: oh, as promised, here's tonight's version of the map for those who want to check it out: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxQPUZ…dit?usp=sharing

Okay, I've done a pretty large overhaul of the map using the feedback from last time! We're very eager to try it out and to see how it feels, so we've scheduled a playtest for tonight, 20:00 GMT+1 (19:00 GMT).

Like last time, we'll be using our new server which is 77.246.163.251:27015. If you have a map you'd like to have tested, let me know ASAP and we'll give it a go at the same time.

    See you guys tonight!

Hey guys, a lot of thanks for the feedback.

I discussed the layout and it's ingredients heavily with Rick and we identified quite a few problems with it. In a way, I'm going back to the drawing board. I can reveal that I've already done something a bit game-changing with the atrium. It's not like that Mirror's Edge screen though. We'll see where it ends up! The garage is probably going to be scrapped (95,5%) in favor of something else. It was kind of a half-assed detour and the radar became confusing with so many floors on top of eachother.

I'll try to get an overhauled layout down this week.

Sounds like a massacred CoH. Only liked the original tbh. I absolutely loved the in-match unlocks (Doctrines), so it's a damn shame that they've decided to go with persistant unlocks. Relic has a bad habit of pulling absolute shit out of their asses (Dawn of War expansions, CoH expansions, Dawn of War 2).
