The genre and setting is my kind of thing, and I loved Oblivion (with mods)... but I dunno I envy you.

I'm gonna let it rest for a few weeks and then try it again...

I just can't seem to get into this game. Dreadful voice acting, stale characters, blurry landscapes and weird writing keesp me from embracing the world of Skyrim. I just don't feel connected to the game world at all

I think it's worth watching. I'm not the biggest fan of Season 1 but I find a lot of the story choices in Season 2 keep things interesting.

I remember having my Holiday vacation, sitting snowed in and playing 100 hours of Oblivion over the course of a week according to Xfire (which I used at the time)... man those were the days

Right now I'm struggling to get into Skyrim. I'm found the intro to be extremely un-epic and all the writing and voice acting I've been exposed to so far has been pretty bad Also, I'm kind of in "battlefield"-mode...

If your game moves away from ironsights and explosions, I think that the term "experimental" or something similar can be used IMHO.

Watched Sons of Anarchy's latest episodes... man, after a lot of pretty bland episodes... things are finally heating up in a interesting way

QTEs are generally used badly but they can fill a role if used correctly, yes.

However, you can't compare the standard gameplay of games with QTE's... it's night and day imho.
