    Always a shame...

Unfortunately, it feels like id is slowly loosing their relevancy in today's industry. They're not the game dev powerhouse they used to be I mean. I'm hoping they can turn things around...

Dota 2... slowly but surely gatting the hang of it (emphasis on the slowly). Pretty fun. I have given up on LA Noire for now...

Same here. Only played the first couple missions. The "story" feels really disjointed and the controls clunky. Does it get better?

Hell if I know, I haven't given the game another chance yet.

In any case, I completely agree with you. For example, I was seriously thinking "wtf?!" during the first mission when the flashlight was tied to your characters movement and not to the camera...

I also found the open world to be not only ugly, but lifeless. Mafia 2 ran twice as smooth and looked twice as good (then again, that was basically what was good about it).

    Finished Bulletstorm just now.

Short but sweet campaign. Surprisingly entertaining story. Goofy and rewarding gameplay. Looks good too. Well worth 12,5 euros.

EDIT: if you buy it, fix the FoV, mouse smoothing and remove the intros manually... after that it's a good pc port!

As an experiment, I have reported the following player http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/us ... tCarcass/# for cheating.

    See proof here: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/ba ... 357177387/

Now, watch with me to see what happens!

It's strange, I don't really know what to think of that movie. I was a bit ill and tired when I watched it though...

    It's not AHMAHAGAD-good anyway.

Yeah, the mentioned way of treating F2P sounds pretty reasonable. What I've read from the lead designers so far, I'm not too worried they'll fuck things up.

Now, we just have to play the waiting game.

Also, got bored and made a test-insignia just for fun because, well, I'm a fanboy. 303rd Airborne Assault "War Pigs" anyone?

I can understand people want results too fast. My problem is looking at other peoples incredible work who are employed and finding out they are younger than me or have been doing it for less time than me. I think I made many mistakes in my first few years, getting stuck in a 'remake' mod for years, then leaving that with nothing to actually show as nothing was original work. From there I had decent working knowledge of the source engine and Hammer editor, but had nothing to show for it when I started looking for new mods to join. Bah, if only I could go back in time !

I feel the same thing some times. I had soooo much spare time during high school and I didn't really touch mapping. Wasn't sure I'd go for game development as a career. I made a shitty TF2 map during the last term - that's it. Really could of used that time to improve my skills (or... gain skills at all rather).

Thing is, you'll feel horrible in five years if you don't pull yourself together NOW and get back on track The important thing is to learn that the past can't be undone and you should look at how to do things moving forward. Also, consider that Mapcore has a lot of talented people. For every success story here, there's atleast ten uninspired slackers who study game design and are going nowhere.

Feedback so far (I've played 1,5 level).

    - The path forward could be slightly clearer at times

    - Some invisible walls are visually too low

    - Consider splitting up map2 (very long)

    - At the end of map1, the ambulance contains saferoom supplies; move these to the next level or make sure they are brought from the ambulance. If you close the door behind you, you lose them after the next level loads if you haven't grabbed them.

Other than that I like it a lot so far. Strong visuals and pretty solid flow and good gameplay.

oh no you're 20 and your life is over... I'm 21 so I must be really fucked.

You did a solid job on that cave-thingy and you seem like a pretty crafty guy. I wouldn't worry one bit, just keep improving man. Don't know your current work situation but try to find the time where you can and try to stay motivated. Try to find projects/idea that interest you, that'll help a lot. I tried to make a L4D2-map during the six month hiatus I just had and, to quote Guillermo del Toro, it was like "fucking without a boner". Don't recommend it!

It's good that you've joined us here anyway mate, we're always behind you

    Read their posts.

This game is so actually so good. And I want to salute the man who made the pecheneg sound and feel the way it does. Love that gun.

And as e-freak mentioned earlier today, we should play more within Mapcore!

Like said before, feel free to add me: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/user/pudddddy/

    I'm hoping csyver is right

I'm at work so won't be able to find that out before the deal is over. Even if the game isn't the best thing ever, I want to see what all the fuzz is about and look at how LA Noire is built as a game and well, see if something can be learned from that.

Worst case scenario, it's just 12,5 euros.

Was a bit skeptical due to ethical reasons (all that shit that went down in Sydney).

But whatever. Fuck game designers. They're out of business anyway.
