Haha, well MapCore did its first ever donation drive late last year which wasn't quite a Wikipedia-style plea at the top of every page, but it was a global announcement. The total actually ended up being about $700, thank you very much for that guys.
That is the #1 reason I'm able to purchase the better software and hosting, as before everything came out my pocket which limited how much I could do without saving it up for a while.Yep, I know (donated too!). I'm just kidding.

Just say the word Thrik once we're needed.
Ideally, you should not need to worry about funds imho as you're already investing the time and effort. -
Just finished the main game (got the DLC left) and I am really satisfied with what the game had to offer!
If you are willing to allow the superb atmosphere, story and art to counterbalance the sometimes very repetitive gameplay then you are going to enjoy the shit out of this game.
Took about 10 hours to finish, with quite a bit of exploration included, and I found that very, very few sections were dull.

I agree. There's a lot of room for content that would keep the game even more alive. I think there's probably something in the works.

That said, a lot of the weapon redesign in this patch excites me. They are introducing a lot more weapon variety which helps keep things fresh.

Hmm. Sounds like all this fancy stuff could be expensive. Sounds good though!

Say, have you ever considered slapping your face to the top of every page each year to secure funding?
I am sure the MapCore community would appreciate this solution. I've only heard good things about other sites doing this.

I've only played 20 minutes to try it out as I wanted to wrap up Alan Wake before really sinking my teeth into this one!

But oh shit. The action is TIGHT. And the 'hard' difficulty level seems like it will provide some challenge.
Looking forward to playing more! -

Looks good so far. Read through the entire thing and I agree with most of the changes. If you can't be arsed to read it, I've selected a few of my favorites!
-Players should no longer take fall damage from short falls.
-Increased the inaccuracy and recoil added when a player is fully suppressed.
-Tweaked bipod deploy settings so players can no longer deploy a bipod in places higher than chin level.
-The bipod should now be more reliable when deploying on top of sloped objects like cars and rocks.
-Fixed several issues with vaulting objects, especially for thin railings.
-The MAV will now be destroyed when running into a soldier or vehicle at high speed. It is still possible to strategically sacrifice your MAV on a soldier; it will be destroyed in the process.
-The MAV can no longer be used as an elevator.
-The M224 Mortar can no longer be deployed in an area that is out of combat for another team like a home base or other protected spawn.
-Players may now use their knife to destroy enemy equipment.
-C4 will no longer be detonable after a player respawns, if the player is revived within 5 seconds he can still detonate his C4.
-The player may now have a maximum number of mines which will persist after the player's death. Deploying more than the maximum of 6 mines will remove a previous mine from the world.
-Claymores now live up to 5 seconds after a player dies, the player can have a max 2 claymores planted at the same time.

Going to grab this tomorrow after work! Looks tight!

Why don't they just use a more modern engine? I find these mods really visually jarring, when you have super high res, normal mapped textures on low poly geometry. It's kinda like using a high-res texture pack for Minecraft.
Yep, I kind of agree here even though I think they are doing great work. Perhaps someone can enlighten us what's the main driving force behind sticking to the HL1 engine?

It's japanese for taxi.

Well, Kedhrin was pretty vocal about sucking with a controller in that vid so I'm guessing it'll be PC for him atleast.

Wants for PC

-
What do you suggest, that they MAKE IT ADJUSTABLE?!
THINK OF THE RESOURCES THEY WOULD HAVE TO ALLOCATE.

-
Could be a cool game, but like Warby says it's pretty hard to have an opinion without having seen some footage.

Looking better and better... nice work Liam! Looks really inviting.

Now, how about populating the place with some fine character art inspired by the woman appreciation thread?

That's why i prefer to compare to a movie, because it's more a interactive movie than a game to me.And the comparison seems impossible: one side is an independent game with little means and another, because it is well MW3
is a game with far more resources and people behind. And price is never an indication of quality or duration

I think that with a game cheaper, like 5$, more people would have bought and profit would have been the same.
Except I'm not a publisher or steam, so, I simply think as a Player.

More people worked on MW3, but the audience is far greater.
8 euros is a fair price imho.
The 6 hours of sales covered the investment cost by that indie game fund, which meant that all subsequent income would go to the devs and not have to be used to return the investment. Robert has worked on this for quite a while and his "profit" is actually the salary for his hard work.

Congrats on the upcoming launch! Probably going to check it out

Finally got around playing/finishing Dead Space 2. Such a good game.Scary ass hell and it had its strange game mechanic moments but at the end a crazy positive experience.
I really liked the contrast in the story that made you keep on going.
This game is now my top scary game that I have played.
Yep, it's very good.

Personally, I'm about to get started on Alan Wake PC whilst still playing Battlefield 3. Discovered that there's a pretty active clan scene for the latter and whilst the game isn't really suited for hardcore e-sports, it's pretty fun just to play semi-serious clan games. 4on4 Squad Rush is my favorite gametype so far.
