Don't know how your old site looked but I really like the layout of this one. Some minor nitpicking: you should optimize the larger images of your "Team Fortress 2 - CTF_Greystone" map. They've got an average size of 900kb, while the ones of your HL2 deathmatch map are 500kb big and have basically the same resolution.

And the white background hurts my eyes a little, would change it in something more browser friendly like a light grey or something else.

The normalmap is actually working the way I wanted it, so no flipping necessary. Maybe it looks wrong because of my rendering setup and the 2 lights I placed on top of the model.

Yeah, I know the polycount is way too high for such a small model, could have optimized those handles a little bit. Thanks for comments

Ah, thanks Mino that's what I was looking for

@HP: Thanks, but I still got a lot of things to learn.

A little lift I made, the final model was rendered in 3ds max. By the way, does anybody know how I can set up a glowmap in 3ds max? Right now I did paint the glow of the lights on the diffuse map, in d3 I would have a seperate texture for that. Couldn't figure out how this works in max

Wow, Crysis never looked that good! Love the variation of different settings. I think from a visual point it almost doesn't get any better, so I would spend the last two weeks polishing the gameplay to make this map kick-ass

Nice work on the facial expression @HP and Buddy, it's amazing what you can do with just a few cylinders and boxes.

A little zbrush doodle. Nothing serious, just something to get familiar with zbrush. Basemesh was done in 3ds max, but it's really not worth showing it

Another door texture. The reference photo is from a france texture-resource pack by hessi. Btw. does anybody know how colored specular maps "work"? for instance, which color is recommended for wood, which for metal, concrete etc.?

NightWolf: I don't like how the top of the concrete and the bottom of the rocks create such a perfect straight line. Maybe add some extra geometry to the concrete wall/the pillars or put a fence in front of the rocks, I don't know. Other than that I really like the rest

I did a testversion with a crazybump overlay, but thought it looked way to bumpy and noisy and had that typically "crazybump look", so I left it.

But yes, I have to agree that the concrete looks too flat and could need some more structure. The windows are black because they are mainly placeholders.

Some textures for practice purpose. The photo references are from a france texture resource pack made by hessi. The final textures were lit with a orange light in the lower left corner and a slight blue light in the right corner, so you can see better how the texture looks with different color themes.

    Quote from buddy the designer

You'd better apply at ID dude, you would suit there as well as method.

Method's multiplayer maps are way better than mine, so I think he's better adapted for Quake Live than me Most mp levels I made are more for casual gamers and don't offer a very exciting layout or gameplay.

Thanks everybody for the kind words.

A little Quake4 scene, this time without any wooden tentacles or whatsoever The fire particles are from the original game, the rest is custom content (average texture resolution 512x512).

I don't have that many posts here, so I think a birthday thread wasn't really necessary...but thanks anyway
