he's a little pussy - i got plenty of shit for being from another country when I was growing up - I didn't kill anyone. fuck him he's a cock, it's only a shame he wasn't a shit shot too.
i have no feelings for these little tossers that go shooting their classmates - yea it's tough being bullied, but life goes on, suck it up, tell a teacher, tell your folks, go to another school; highschool/secondary school isn't the end of your life, in 5 years you'll be buying burgers and shoes from the dicks that were bullying you and laughing as they try to raise a kid in a council house surrounded by smackheads and white trash.
all these kids that go shooting always kill themselves at the end of it - if they have a real message, then stay alive, go through the court case and tell your side: you have a lot of publicity to wield after something like a school shooting so use it to further your cause. killing yourself amounts to saying "i was just angry, so i killed some people then killed myself because i'm a fucking pussy and my glorious message didn't mean fuck all"
sorry for the rant but honestly, fuck them all, they're little shit-stains.

FFS.
More young lives extinguished by another mental fuck who seems to like the idea of going around a school and indiscriminately murdering people. What is it about schools and colleges that nutters want to go around killing anyone they see? I seem to hear about it happening in schools and colleges more than I hear about it happening in, say, shopping malls and stuff.Horrible stuff, and genuinely frightening knowing some psychotic fuck in your own kids' school could end up doing it. Good job guns are relatively difficult to come by in the UK, especially for kids.

because kids are cunts, and when you mix ability to get guns, mental disorder, and years and years of bullying (mental or physical) then people are going to get killed. It's not a big mystery.
Parents need to pay more attention to their kids when warning signs are displayed (both bullying and being bullied), and children should be taught that teasing leads to bullying leads to their brains lying on the cafateria floor.
Since when has it benn perfectly acceptable that bullying goes on? It's a modern phenomenon, and so is shcool shooting; again, hardly takes a lot to see where the problems are coming from.
Stop blaming video games, it;s not like developers go out of their way to build murder simulators, what kind of bullshit is that..

medal of honour, call of duty, day of defeat, lol of lulz?

your point?
i think frie explained it quite nicely; but what is the deal with this thread? what are you trying to achieve? i don't really understand it, as in "what's the deal here" - what's the deal with what? i don't know if you had your pc on high whilst playing the demo but it looks stunning - literally stunning, so to complain about a lack of super-duper lighting on leaves (when i presume you were running on xp, right? and you don't have a top spec pc, amirite?) is a bit.. odd.

Two things:
Quote from ginger_lordLooks ace.Minor nitpick:
Tyre tread is going the wrong way, if it hit water it would force all the water into the tyre, rather than out of it.
Edit: Well on the front view it is...the rear view is right...

A game where realism is of the utmost importance amirite lulz?!

Also you will spend 90% of the game looking at the vehicles from the rear, as it's a racing game right?
Not saying it's a good thing not to pay attention to the smaller details, and not saying it's a big job to flip the uv's - but I am syaing it's an incredibly low level crit that is frankly, in my eyes anyway, rather pointless.

I only suggest tu put antialiasing to rendered stuff
Zap has already said this, but I will say it again, he wrote some "words" in the "post" accompanying the "pic-char" that explained the lack of AA. Instead of just scrolling through looking for coloured pixels it might be nice to read the rest of the post as well. Saves you making rather silly posts that are null and voided by the original post.
Sorry for the rant but it's things like this that make mapcore rather painful to browse at times.
As for the latest models - very nice stuff, fits the theme perfectly and the textures are really well executed.
A+ ;D

crysis uses doom3 assets
-
most seem very barren, the fort map in particular - like the detail put into smoothing edges and making sure not all the walls are straight; but the outer walls and surrounding area are very boring.

amazing - thanks for the help

thank you again - the maya_workflow link you posted pretty much answered all my questions concerning using textures from the 'game' as it were - an invaluable link

do you know how wise it is to build a level almost entirely from static meshes and just use bsp to block vis and assist in portaling? they did this a lot in the later stages of gears of war but i'm wondering how earlier versions of the engine would handle it :x

There is no reason not to learn UE3, knowing UE2 is pretty much entirely useless right now.
thanks man - I was browsing around the udn after clicking the link in the editor and i found all the actor/mesh related stuff, but I'll browse some tut's and try to find some info on how static meshes work in unreal (whether I can texture them in the editor, or how I can go about using a collection of textures (tilables) on various different meshes and make sure the exporter doesn't create a new material for each texture etc).
and the reason I am holding off ut3 is because I want to make a Red Orchestra map to begin with, when ut3 is released properly I'll get stuck into that.
thanks again H

i've decided to pick up unreal engine, all the links here are dead (i don't want to learn unreal3 just yet) - can anyone recommend some good tutorials on just using the engine - also getting static meshes from maya (preferably 8.5) into the editor/engine?
big thanks in advance

The Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil Zero were both pre-rendered, IIRC. The devs could easily have made a fly through of course, but all the cameras were static. They were animated backgrounds though, which made it seem a lot less obvious. Lightning flashes, rain effects, curtains flapping around, the shake of the train carriages, etc...
crazy.. is there any info on the web about how they did it, or just an article/interview with the devs?
