The ceiling looks good, like it looks like it could exist (far better than the earlier versions of it) but it's been "ruined" by something that just doesn't belong there - maybe in an easter egg room but not on the ceiling of T spawn - the rest of the scene looks so serious, and then you have this big minds-eye trick on the roof, it just doesn't make sense and it looks like a total gimmick.
The paintings, I was a little harsh but it seemed to me like you were either trying to compensate for, or make some sense out of, the ceiling decal by having some 'modern art' in there. It doesn't really fit with the rest of the scene (the old ceilings, the wooden theme etc).
Classical paintings and a mural on the ceiling would have worked much better, and sold the place as being much more believable.
Also, I am not "mr negative" thank you very much.
Ferret - I think you may have missed the million other posts I made where I actually have offered criticism that is useful, I don't see what it is you have against me but this is getting a little petty now

very nice stuff

is there stuff in the console versions that differs from the pc version? (of sc:da)

i am better than you i have large penis made of awesome

so basically you are selling your map with some 'paintings' and a gimmick?

Please refrain from attacking people in the future and say something constructive - Ferret
didn't realise I was attacking anybody, I tried giving constructive crits about his ceiling but he's taken a believable ceiling and added an internet minds-eye trick on it, I don't see the relevance? - Rick_D, the poster who's post you seemed to have posted in - miss the 'quote' button? ;D

I don't think politics will matter once it comes down to ppl playing it for map bias and weapons.
And frankly I found the 'not welcomed as liberators...etc' to be totally lol. Just because it gives that side of the americans pre-war, and still hands out the idea that somehow allowing tribal factions the freedom to fight each other again, but this time with evil westerners as targets too, was a noble and brave move.
If I wanted politics in a game I would play a game dedicated to it, liek that one game, that kind sucked, but didn't. INS has nice artwork, weird animations, and pretty maps. But it looks like it'll be a blend of CS, BF2, AA and *maybe* a little RO. Whether that will prove to be a good thing or not is questionable until we play it. Some nice ideas in there though, nothing fantastically new or awe-inspiring, but should combine to make a stable gameplay experience.
You guys got any idea how the clans will be playing the game yet?

well i dunno - I think the black pattern would have a little depth - just from the type of tile it is, the other colours and patterns maybe not so much, but a tiny bit on the black doesn't do any harm imho.
-
normal + spec would soon take that away tho

I would agree with the blocky comments but the materials you used for the surfaces is blocky (ie: roght angled) by nature, so I can't see any way around it except to take some artistic license and chop out some corners:

set the orange/red (i;m like a metre from my monitor i couldn't tell what colour i clicked on :S) to displacement and just 'fray' the edges a little to give it some detail - you will only increase the bsp size a fraction and shouldn't get any performance drops.
I really love the lighting, from the shadows to the overall colour(s) in the map.
The theme is very worn out but that's just the textures imho (if this had been released a few years ago when everything was 'fresh' it'd seem a lot more impressive) - some of your detailing is very nicely executed; however some areas seem to have had less attention paid to them than others and it gives the map a very unfinished tone (I presume this is because it is in fact, unfinished) - the streets need more litter and debris - the alleyways need more props, pipes and boxes, garbage cans and dumpsters, garbage itself - would all make a big difference to the atmosphere.
The variation in buildings is a little random, you have some tiny buildings using textures that deserve to be placed on larger buildings and repeated more - I think it would add more to the level to simply have one larger, slightly repetitive, building than three varying buildings - if all you are trying to do is break up the surfaces or to give the impression of a larger area.
If my crits are too.. forward or too many then I apologise, I only give them because you have some outstanding areas and others are letting it down. I really like what you have done and think with some minor additions can make this into a very pretty map.

yea i just watched it - it was pretty good but bad choice of font size and colour - had to concentrate too hard to read it

still - some nice things to take away, ppl that develop games really have an opportunity to affect a hell of a lot of people in positive and sometimes life changing ways - it truly is an art form.
like jumping into the mona lisa and punching her in the face
kind of, but with more guns.

wtf james gtfo this instant - next you'll be telling us that there is a new duke nukem game on the way
