Have they kept portal in the HL2 universe or is it just it's own IP?

the trim at the top and moss at the bottom don't blend into the stones too well.

also there is no need for a watermark - no-one here will steal your stuff.

fuck yeah I'm going to play Ep2 tonight, amazing. This is like christmas.

I just watched that pyro youtube video and omg it's .. I don't know if beautiful is the right word but the pyro is such an amazing class it works wonderfully.

    *MHMPMHBHLE!*

Btw to touch on TF2 it's the only game I've played in a long long time where people are actually friendly and use voice comms 80% of the time. Good game, good community.

    post up the qc?

I'm guessing you may have something dodgy happening with your phsyics setup or perhaps the textures are giving it a headache.

never had the problem but I'm sure we can work it out

I can't say I'm buying the textures - I can see what you are trying to do, but windows going round corners (those textures in particular, with no supports or other architecture to make sense of it) look off, and the long windows going all the way up a building look very odd indeed. Try to break them up, make the building shapes something else than a long rectangle - or even just add something behind the two 'towers' and the short stubby window building - it'll make the whole thing look a bit more practical - at the moment it feels like a useless building (ie: couldn't serve any practical use). Even if you were going for a stylised look the textures and architecture make it seem like you're aiming for somewhere in the realm of realism.

I would also be tempted to make the shapes more interesting, bevel edges or damage straight lines to make it more interesting to the eye.

While I'm not on this project (even though I know a thing or two about it), I can say some things 1. Some of these comments are pretty funny, some are clever!

    2. There's lots of ignorance here- try not to judge a book by it's cover. Just because you see this or you see that, doesn't mean that's all there is. That's about all I will say about that.

yeah, I was going to say; it's a bit odd basing an opinion of a game on a few minutes of gameplay.

The environments look well made and convincing, lots of nice little details and nice lighting. The general scripting of the gameplay looks really well done too. Great sound fx and atmospheric ambience too.

The particle fx look pretty nice too, especially the bullet impacts on the walls, a nice puff of plaster gives a real satisfaction element to firing your weapon.

And for a 360 game you are using limited resources anyway so glass disappearing after a second or too isn't that big a deal, and it's not something I would judge a game on

Admitedly I thought the first FEAR was rather bland, journey through warehouses and office blocks, but it had a nice jumpy element throughout and the visuals were not that bad at all, even when running on low.

I would be tempted to give this a whirl, why not? It looks nice, great art and sounds, good design and a few games behind them to build upon and improve..

Bought a 360 just for this game as well, while I'm currently living off baked beans and last weeks bananas it was definitely worth the money (btw, brand new xbox, limited edition, right out the box: broken tv lead, almost funny if it wasn't so sad).

The tricks make sense, as soon as I understood where they were coming from with the spin/flip using the analogue stick it all just clicked. If I want to try a new trick I just think back to my skating days and 'what would I need to do to make the board move in this way' - it's very intuitive.

Took me a while to get used to the camera angle but it definitely does make things smooth. Even though I can point out so many flaws with this game (no walking, no permanent markers, annoying challenges that force you to do 'gamey' stuff to pass them, too much loading when using session markers on a long line, not enough options to control or even place a camera in a certain place for recording/editing replays, not enough slots to save replays, not enough slots to upload replays to, too easy to land tricks - coming out of grinds at 90 deg angles should end in a bail, and still lots of very gamey stuff in there) it's a step in the right direction and I have been waiting for a game like this since Thrasher: Skate and Destroy - which was by rights the best skating game ever made up until now.

The only thing that frustrates me is EA Nation and online play, it is very very laggy, I timed out from a server I was hosting. To me that screams "huge problem". If they can patch that and work in some updates I would be a very happy bunny. Do xbox games get patched or have I gotten too used to PC games?

I don't know if anyone who is/was a skater doesn't have this game yet, but if not: buy this game.

Stolve, my xbox live name is: RickDlol

I spent about 3 hours sessioning a 5 metre concrete ledge last night. So doing an all nighter won't be a problem

yeah, when I was using XSI the hotkeys were invaluable - I got really used to them and moving over to max was a bit of a challenge; but after a few weeks you find it becomes second nature.

Personally I wouldn't use a mod tool because they will cut back features, and you'll probably only find out what it is they cut once you come to really needing it - which was the case with me. Still, maybe it is useful for some people ;(

I have a bad ass speaker setup for when I want to piss the neighbours off; and my logitech headphones for when I play games or just want to chill to some music etc.

H20 the headphones don't look amazing but they are comfortable (wear them all day at work, and then at home too - I have two pairs lulz), the sound is contained (you don't have that tinny sound coming out and pissing everybody else off, even when it's LOUD). The sound quality is superb, honestly is - I have used 100 pound headphones meant for music studios and such that aren't a patch on these things; and the microphone quality is fantastic - it's like a perfect all-round headset.

I'm not a spokesman for logitech or anything but I've bought and tried so many different headsets in an effort to get good sound quality in games, music, film, along with a good quality mic. I have experimented with desktop mics and proper headphones, I have tried other logitech headsets and even headsets that claim to be 'built for gaming' and I've yet to find a headset that matches the usability and versatility of this headset.

If anyone can hsow me something better I am totally open to trying it out but I stand by my belief that I've tried just about everything there is (in a reasonable price range) and this is about the best you're gonna get.

    Logitech USB Headset 250

    [Blocked Image: http://www.alicell.com/images/logitech/550_Logitech%20Stereo%20USB%20Headset%20250_3qt.jpg]

Doesn't look like much, but I promise you they are amazing. I've owned about 5 pairs and I've yet to find a combination of such good bassy headphones (perfect for music, perfect for gaming) and a high quality mic that is audible over vent, ts, skype, ingame codecs etc

They are about 40 pounds here so I presume they will be about 80 or 90 euros if my maths is right (which it won't be) - but maybe try and get a demonstration of them in the store. If not then just buy them, you'll not be disappointed.

well it's more for the people that don't want to use wared apps - I can understand the reasoning.

I think it's also good to just go over to another app and see how they do things. It's helps not to be closed minded about this kind of thing, everytime you learn something new and different you are only bettering yourself and improving, if not your skills, then at least your ability to learn something new
