Thanks all! I am a junior level designer, [HP].

Neat, saw that job advertised and toyed with going for it. Cambridge is 30 mins on the train from me or 45mins drive. Decided to be lazy for a bit more and ultimately will end up moving up North next year to be with the missus.

Shocking to see no Brit has made a thread yet!

I loved this film, in some ways its better than Casino Royale (Action, quality of the action, a decent Aston chunk, good characters, some witty dialogue) and other ways not quite as good (bit too short, left wanting more, plot not as involving/twisty, absolutely terrible title sequence).

Overall an amazing film imo, a worthy sequel and continues the direction the franchise is taking nicely.

    Go see it asap!

I dont believe it for a minute, if this comes from some EA forum admin i'd basically ignore the whole thing. This isnt the first time i've heard someone talk out of there arse like this.

Indeed. Not to mention the EA forums would be the last place on Earth I'd look for "support".

If I play this, I need to wear sunglasses to prevent my retinas from exploding due to the HDR, Bloom and blocks of primary colours. Gameplay looks good, but I've really not liked the art style from the start. Yes its not brown and muddy like 95% of everything else, I think its gone too far the otherway.

Love platformers though, just not blinding ones.

    Alpkit Gamma

    [Blocked Image: http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/4831/alpkitgammafullfacewebki9.jpg]

A bargain at £12.50 including delivery which is usually next day! A central 1W ultrabright LED that illuminates stuff out to about 50m no problem, also has a half-power mode for pottering around camps and a 1W strobe to attract attention in a emergency.

Top three LED's are super bright white, red and green LED's. These are just as powerful as the half-power mode of the central one and easily illuminate everything around 10-20m. The red and green ones are great for map reading at night so as to not screw up your night vision. Ideal for the top of Ben Nevis when you're near the 1200m vertical drop. The red led also has a flashing mode to attract attention again in an emergency or as a beacon.

Theres also a LED bar on the battery pack so at night people can follow you fairly easily. Absolute stonker of a deal and about 1/3 the price of the equivalent Petzl torches with no downsides I've yet to find.

If you need a headtorch for any reason, get this one!

    The Helping Hand

    Deliberate Sociable Fun Veteran (DSFV)

Generous, helpful, kind...a few of many positive attributes people see in you, the Helping Hand. Nothing satisfies you more than helping your teammates or friends out in all the games that you play. You may even look to assist people in some cases if there is no one around asking for help. In fact, the enjoyment that you receive from helping people rivals that of solving a puzzle, winning a battle, or achieving a hard objective in a game.

Heavily social intensive games tend to be what you enjoy the most although you can probably find something to take pleasure in with most games. For instance, if you happen to find yourself in a competitive first person shooter, you'd probably take the support class. We recommend you stick to games (and crowds!) where people will appreciate you more; these include more casual gamers seeking fun and excitement from games rather than the serious competitive ones.

The only good thing I can think of is a file format that actually works well between all three programs.

Media is really picking up on the race issue:

I wonder why America is still stuck in the past with issues like this, really hope it doesnt affect poll day but I bet it will and there will be essentially GWB2 in the White House for another 4 years.

Obama seems to have it in the bag from my viewpoint. McCain/Palin seem to have stumbled at the last hurdle.

Whether or not the old skin colour issue crops up on poll day is another matter, certainly has affected people in the past. I doubt it really will these days but you never know.

McCain is far to old and looks like he could keel over at any point and that means Palins in charge. Oh my.

Do you ever buy anything other than climbing stuff. go live on a mountain already!

Don't really need anything else but climbing stuff, everything else doesn't prolong my life! Could do with a new GFX card I suppose, but then I really should get a new PSU...

The only other things I could post would be car service bills and pictures of petrol cans ;D

    • October 21, 2008 at 6:10 PM

Oh right those ones. I thought Valve technically own the rights to them so calling them custom/community maps is sort of odd as in effect they are the property of Valve now thus 'offical', no?

  • TF2 push for a community map release

    • Ginger Lord
    • October 21, 2008 at 5:59 PM

Oh I forgot that they didnt include them. Shows how much I paid attention to DoDS. So if they won't do it for one game, I see it as highly unlikely you can do it for another, most you could probably get is similar advertising.

Also what do you mean TF2 custom maps are valve property? Some obscure clause in the EULA?

I'd talk to the CAMP guys who managed to twist valves arm in to doing a similar thing for DoD:S

Fuyro/Fuzzdad are the people for that afaik. I seem to remember it took them months/years to get anywhere though!

Heard about this on the radio today, i lol'd:

Sony has postponed the global release of a much-anticipated video game due to concerns that it may offend Muslims.

Copies of LittleBigPlanet are being recalled from shops worldwide after it emerged that a background music track contained two phrases from the Koran.

Sony issued an apology for any offence that its use of the backing track might have caused.

The changed version of LittleBigPlanet will now go on sale on 3 November in the UK and 29 October in the US.

I've seen the trailers and some of the reviews but I havnt been a complete nerd and hunted down every last scrap of info. All I see is a zombie co-op game where the zombies can...run!

Edit: Not that I play TF2 much either but due to L4D no more TF2 updates till next year
