Again, I take it this is for US residents only?

Could be the next Jedi Knight...how awesome would that be....

Could be fake, but I think this is feasible so I doubt it is

I'd be interested in that wad, and can host it for all of us. Can you send it via MSN?

Load it up people, the opening sequence is a must
(the rest of the shots were already in the E1 ending trailer, except for the Vortigaunt shot) -
I found it way too easy to camp each first flag. That sandbag facing the allies spawn exit noticeably, but there are similar situations against the axis.
I also must say that it looks very good, and gives the exact "holland" feeling as portrayed in many other films/games, but that's hardly a surprise when you out of all people made the map

I think the vertical gameplay is the downside of the map. I'd like to think that I have a fairly good chance of capping the middle flag with a teammate once I reach it, but while the flag only takes two people, I found it took more than that to cover all angles, as indeed one can be shot from all around the flag....and even from above. If you could try some type of a shack to cover the flag, that might work better for me.
The insides of buildings could do with a little less options (but that's again a personal preference) though I like the way one can use them to break down a chokepoint, by going around it quickly rather than going around the same corner of the same building over and over again only to get mowed down by the same MG....

The cheesiest of all extremely cheesy stories, for the most manichean patriotic BS ever produced in video games history. I hope it never sold more than 50,000 copies tops.

Thx for the dumbass...and if it had taken me 18 hours, I probably wouldn't have bothered.

This is the new hottest thing among hot things to have hit the fan. Everyone at work is kicking themselves in the nuts it's so brilliantly genius. There could finally be a very FUN game to come out this year.

what engine is this? homemade? That does look very good

-
That is some seriously wicked art direction and character design. And this is coming from someone who's never played TFC, so I don't have anything to expect

Final verdict having finished the game:
- Story: good script, interesting ideas, could do with some more immersion
- Playability: Excellent, controls are very nicely tweaked, and weapons are very good, and help tremendously with some of the gameplay features (the chargers on the wall noticeably)
- Graphics: The "organic meets metal" world has never been done so nicely, but it can turn you off by its rendering. Turning off the glow really helped me being immersed in the game. It's an engine issue, not a game one.
- Story telling: The game is divided in two parts, each of which lasts for about 3 hours of gameplay (I think the game lasts 6 hours total). You have no idea what the hell is happening for the 1st three, and it doesn't suck you right in, especially since you discover every gameplay features very quickly in the game (rotating rooms, portals, wall walking, spirit walking). It drags on. The second part is the opposite. In a matter of half an hour, you discover a lot more and there's no letting go until the end. You feel like you're near the end for the last two hours of the game, and the enemies become very very cool. Needless to say the weapons follow the same trend.
- Nice feature : A commonly shared problem in games is the frustration dieing brings to players, who often don't finish their games being so angry at a particular boss or section of the game. Prey found a nice feature to fight this: never die. Well you do die, but instead of respawning at the last save point after having seen a very encouraging "Game Over" on the screen, you instead move to the land of the Ancients, and fight off against lost souls to replenish your own. Nice find, as you can die many times against the "keepers", but will restart the fight where you ended it, not all over again.
Overall, this isn't the new Half Life to me, because it isn't as groundbreaking as HL was when it came out. But at the same time, it's by far the best use I've seen of the Doom 3 engine, and is a very good mix of influences, which aren't even hidden. The entire game screams "Matrix, Halo, FEAR, Doom" and it's very pleasant, if you're a fan of the genre.

Well I feel I must change my view on the game. Seen as I didn't take a save file of my game at work, I just played the game up till where I stopped at noon from home.
3 hours of playtime shrunk to 1h30, during which the story telling was "just right". So I don't know whether it was just me at work who was very slow or if the story telling only gets right on the second time around. But as for most FPS, replayability sucks. No surprises anymore (not that that wouldn't be expected)
-
Well I haven't beat it so I don't know how long it lasts, maybe it's too short. By too long I mean the story telling is too long. There are huge moments where nothing happens whatsoever as far as the story is concerned.
-
Well, after 4 hours of playing the game, the game has finally evolved into something fun. Actually really fun. The first boss you get to fight (3 hours in the game at least mind you) is very very good. Then you get your first vehicle after 4 hours......
It's just too long, it could be so much better if there weren't so many down moments in the story telling...

No it's not released. 30 Euros for me. Because 30 euros should be a reasonable price for a reasonably sized book. Because let's face it, the more "next gen" we get, the less the same person will do everything. With that in mind, there will be large portions of any huge book covering everything that won't ever be used by the purchaser.
Bottom line I'd rather 5 persons bought a 30 euros book each than 2 persons buying one 50 euros one and not using half of the book because all they care about is some specific aspect of game development. And I'm ready to bet publishers will also prefer my own choice

It really isn't the new HL to me, but what do I know....Sure, there are some very nice gameplay additions (wall walking, portals, spirit walk) but the atmosphere doesn't sell the game. Besides the too shiny Doom III graphics, the ambiance is just too repetitive, there aren't any things happening that you don't expect from a mile away.
Besides, story telling was one of the things that set HL apart. And story telling in Prey is non existant. I've played for over 2 hours (lunch break) at work today and even well beyond where the demo ended, I still have no idea what it is I'm doing. It's just the same "Oh look, my gf shows up from nowhere every 10 minutes, just to remind me I still have to save her...". When is the alien master plan coming into play????

I don't really dig the lit up street lights in the middle of the day, noticeably during the WWII era. Maybe you want to check that out. I think it attracts the eye too much, and an unlit version would add to the atmosphere

Some guys I work with cancelled their order and will be renting it instead. They're console guys anyway, so the PC version was out of the question.
I know my next purchase will be a 360. To me it's just the right equipment in order not to spend 4 times the 360 bill on a good PC, money I don't have anyway. And Prey is one of these games that won't make me upgrade my PC "just because". HL2 fell in that category, but not Prey....by far

I can see the famous Lyon subway Koko
