You know, to most gamers, SMB= Super Mario Bros, which is exactly what I was expecting to see. Would be cool too

-
Have a great year 2008 everyone !
-
For the record, and those who will experience similar problems, the error is reported this way "ED_Alloc: no free edicts"
-
It's the total amount that's causing the crash, not a single type I'd use too many of. Easy choice is to delete all point_spotlight entities.
-
Sorry, the map literally contains too many entities, causing invariably the engine to run out of memory, making any server crash ultimately. Take this out of your rotation if it still is in, and rest assured RC2 isn't far out, with a fix for this as well as improvements on the feedback given so far.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey everyone,
I'm finally releasing my first TF2 map, just in time for Christmas.
The map features CP gameplay set in a movie studios environment, where the world of TF2 shoots cartoon remakes of our popular movies, such as Lord of the Rings, Terminator 2 and Back to the Future.
You can download it off Filefront in either a zip or a rar file:
zip (30 Mb) : http://%7boption%7d
rar (25 Mb) : http://%7boption%7d
Screenshots (large, High res) :
Here is the readme file:

MAP DESCRIPTION:
In dire need of space for more movie studios, Furyo Studios and Pedroleum Studios fight it off to entertain the world of TF2.
The map's gameplay takes both Granary and Well for a spin, and mixes both maps using similar CP setups.
5 Capture Points total, with two sets of advanced spawn points and a close to symmetrical layout.
The map takes place on the movie sets of cartoon remakes of Lord of the Rings, Terminator 2 and Back to the Future.
This is the first TF2 map I have made, but my commitment to the Source community can be seen in other Source games
such as DoDS (Camp Packs) and Ubisoft's upcoming Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Elements on the X360.
Feel free to drop me a line as all constructive comments and feedback are welcome. The map will have a final release
in a couple months once all feedback has been taken into account.

Thanks to all the playtesters throughout the beta versions. This map surely has evolved and it's thanks to you.
Special thanks to our friends at Valve for the playtesting and feedback, helpful as usual

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE !

Finally back after talking to Hessi and figuring out I needed to click the banner to access the forums...
Merry Christmas everyone

-
Thanks, I also added the company websites wherever applicable, and removed Sa7an from Splash Damage.

Remember guys, give as much info as you want for the listing:
- Your full name (if you want to)
- If the studio is a new addition, its website
- Your position there
- Link to your portfolio
All of these are up to you, choose whether you want them listed or not, but just know that they will be if you fill in the blanks.
-
Nice everyone, glad to see more guys getting in on the fun

-
Same thing for you Dave

-
I'll add these links tonight when I get home, but I already added Defrag to the list. With that said, I don't have a name to go by, so it was just Defrag...
Congrats, I knew they were hiring, and have been for some months now, so it looks like they're doing well with their current projects. Enjoy.
-
According to where I got this from, there are 4 episodes, and this videos regroups all of them into one, hence the length
-
Among other games, FF7 is the main inspiration in this epic video

I just found out about it not two minutes ago on Gamasutra...and it had to happen on the day I'm flying out to Canada... Damn the French !

-
Ok there's some serious marketing power with those. Who wants a plush 57 Chevy for his rear view mirror? That's just kick ass from start to finish
-
I'm pretty sure Eidos is now on the shitlist of companies not to work for for many many industry professionals out there.
Problem is, if only it was the only one....
-
Sorry Sjoerd, I should have been clearer.
I wasn't suggesting you cut them loose, but a minor reshape would help a lot. After some more thought to it, here's what I'd suggest now:
Make them smaller, and make the ceiling of the cave more curved in and varied, as if there were many other stalagtites possibly forming. The reason for this is that as I look at them, it looks as if someone above tried to nail something through, and failed.
HL2 Ep2 may give you some more examples of what I'm trying to say here, so they just blend better. If you're not going to change the texture, for reasons I perfectly understand, then they can't be interpreted as a different thing than rock, and as such they'd look better if they actually were a part of the cave geologically speaking.
My two cents, worth less than that

Dark Messiah was developed by Arkane, published by Ubisoft. The port to the X360 is developed by Ubisoft (used to be where I work).
While I agree with what you're saying Rick_D, you're also forgetting inhouse development. The Unreal engine was largely insufficient to make the Splinter Cell games, and a lot of new features had to be coded and implemented by the SC team at Ubisoft, whether in Montréal, Shangaï or Annecy. No SC game uses the same engine as its predecessor, they're all based on Unreal, but have been reworked.
