  • Orion - November Update (Trailer / Media / Beta)

Due to our tight schedule all the way up until public release... we haven't been able to make a proper gameplay trailer the way I had originally wanted. However, we decided to do a few more gameplay montages for the fans - 4 and a half more minutes of NEW gameplay. This was taken from footage recorded today, November 10th, 2009.

This was another 3 v 3 match (so not many, yet still amazingly fun!). This also showcases a level we haven't even announced to the public yet. So enjoy the snow level while you get to see it for the first time in this trailer!

    NOVEMBER 2009 UPDATE:

    Hey guys!

We're doing some continious test. We know you were expecting a beta about a week ago, but if you haven't already read our ModDB post, our lead programmer had succumbed to PC hardware issues and we were out and delayed. However, in return (and thanks to the ModDB website) we were able to bring on two new programmers ('SteveUK' from Ham & Jam and 'FeareD'). Things are now progressing better than ever.

I will say, however, we do have an official release date all set which I cannot yet announce. I will announce it as soon as I can!

Also, if you want a chance to play Orion early just register on our forums! We will be accepting new beta testers every week!

We have some great things lined up for the first release (before the years end). We also have some content that will be released shortly after!

Until then, please enjoy some screen grabs from our private playtest yesterday:

Not all map objects are in.. our team is cranking out props as we speak.

Their will be all sorts of props that can be used, such as crashed drop ships, and anything else in that matter.

    2nd Weekly Update [ 09/23/05 ] ::: Unveiling of inm_scale.

Also, I'd like to take a few minutes to answer some questions and concerns that I have been seeing around the internet lately. Basically a quick FAQ:

Q: Why are you using M4a1's and mp5's in the year 2442? That doesn't make sense you wiener shnizzle!

A.) Their are many reasons for this. One is due to the story with the shortage of resources and the military using both the newer weapons that the army has created and supplied for their soldiers along with old, but reliable weaponry from the past as added gun power. In the game, the player will have the option to choose a "type" of weapon in the weapon select menu. Lets say you want the Automatic Rifle that features full auto and single shot. The next menu after that would allow you too choose the model (example: m4a1 or XR8c). The weapons would act the same (same weapon codes) but will allow the player if they want to use a familiar weapon or one of our custom designed weapons. The best for both worlds.

Q: You guys are a halo rip off.

    A. We hate you.

No, we don't hate you. We just need to release more of the facts so people understand before assume. This information is on our website, but hopefully this will help. Incoming (for Half-Life 1) was started over 5 years ago (August 25, 2000). That was after Halo was announced, but wasn't released yet. Halo 2 hadn't even begun. Later in development, I contacted Bungie about the Warthog (named the Talon in the first game) because it fit so well in the Incoming universe. Anyways, we are going to clarify this once and for all and we are hoping people at least take the time to read this to understand more of the game we are making for YOU for FREE.

Yes. Their is one halo model (some will argue two) in this game. Most will call it the Warthog. We have changed the name along with a small few details, including the weapon turret on the top (custom twin .50 cal). That's the only model borrowed from the Halo Series. Some will argue our armor for the player model (humans), and as it does resemble him, their are major differences. The inspiration was based off both the Spartan armor from Halo along with ancient Trojan and Greek armor. Our model is unique, which you will all see when we release the media for the actual player model and texture. Until then, just trust us. Every other vehicle was designed by myself, no inspiration from Halo. So I hope that helps clear up some confusion.

We cannot wait to hear from you guys and we hope that everyone will be okay during the next few days / weeks.

It's what most people typically do. It doesn't make me angry.

It upsets me that they don't make themselves familiar with the history of the game or read the website, since alot of information is their that could help them understand what we are making them.

On the very first page, it says we started on August 25, 2000.

    Halo 1 was only announced.

    Halo 1 was not released.

Halo 2 had not begun development.

Keep that in mind as well.

Halo also shares the same suit as in Doom and along with Quake. It's armor. Simple as that guys.

And I admit to it being my fault for leaving the green armor one up, so I took the responsibility to upload this:

No, it just bugs me when all of their accusations are answered on the website.

Same goes for yours, there is a new weapon concept for the future-based concepts of weapons.

Which will be explained further actually very soon.

I highly suggest you read the story on:

    http://www.incoming-source.net/about.php

and then grab that altair image and an elite, and compare them and realize they are nothing alike.

    Trojan does resemble Master Chief?

    Yes.

Masterchief also resembles the Doom armor, the Quake armor.. and their dropship resembles the Aliens one?

    What is your point?

Halo was a rip off as well, and we are not even to that large of an extent.

Please read up before making silly posts.

Incoming Source has been in the making for a little bit over a month. Originally developed on the Half-Life 1 engine and later moved and re-created on the Source engine. Incoming Source focuses on epic combat. Containing large open and varied maps, both drivable vehicles (with usable turrets) along with flyable vehicles. There will be 16 new weapons along with plenty of other features including iron sights for tactical aiming. In celebration of all of the work that has been completed within the past month, we are re-launching the website with a brand new layout along with new media and a new forum. Incoming Source's team is already large and very talented, but we can still use some more talent.

    Positions Still Available:

Incoming Source has made plenty of progress. We have a working tech demo including gameplay modes along with other features accompanied by 4 weapons currently ingame. We have currently have 11 maps on the Source engine being updated with new map models along with custom designed textures. Visit the brand new website for a complete listing of progress from this past week along with some of the new media.

With the new website launch we also have something for our fans every Friday. There will be a weekly update containing at least two images and one video usually relating to the images. Visit the site this Friday for our first (of many) Weekly Updates showing off one of our new, completed maps. The weekly updates will be accompanied by journal logs containing each bit of progress that was completed during that week.

We have had a great time thus far on developing this game. We cannot wait for the upcoming weekly updates to show you all of the media we have. Visit us on IRC at:
