if you think it would be that easy then make the script and paste it to this thread.
(the wait command is plain shit.)

video extravaganza:
actually no, because several commands will be executed asynchronous, but here they have to be in order. i remember that from the old days ![]()
Quote from ReNoDisplay MoreYeah it's horribly inefficient like that. My usual process after doing a compile in Source was...- Load map with HDR on
- "buildcubemaps"
- "mat_hdr_level 0"
- "changelevel "
- "buildcubemaps"
- "mat_hdr_level 2"
- "changelevel "
- "changelevel "
I believe you could use "mat_reloadall" or whatever the command is as an alternative to force a refresh of the cubemaps after building them.
back in my days reloadallmaterials failed by producing several errors. the changelevel workaround was the way to go.
rats maps make me remind the good old days. so i already like this one! i see lots of nice custom content in here. very great work!
no i've punched that little guy in his face, so i could take a ride. by consequence he ran off crying. ![]()

Quote from JakeMartinThe thumbnails and the main pictures are actually the same. Like I said in the previous post, I took 1920x1080 screenshots and the css scales them down and populates both the thumbnail area and the full image area. I feel like I'm just going to change the website anyway so that'll all be taken care of.I'm not sure what you mean by it not bouncing off your chair. Please just be straightforward. I'm here for the criticism, no matter how brutal.
Thanks!
i meant that your visual work is not that much exciting that it makes me jump through my apartment. it is ok and solid, but nothing too special.
oh and btw: using css to scale things is not reducing bandwidth. it is just instructions to the browser on how to render the content which keeps the same (data) size. just as a side note for future websites.
man, your thumbnails are over 170kb each! that is too much. make separate thumbnail images in exactly the resolution you need and use an average compression. and besides a 450x326 image doesn't need 170kb! 50kb would totally do the job as well. even less would be ok.
loading this url (http://www.jakemartin.net/mba.html) in my browser did result in 2.07MB data being transferred in around 20 different files. you could speed things up by reducing the number of images. for example you could use clever css and a single collection thumbnail to create your thumbnail buttons. but reducing the overall filesize for your images would be the first step.
content wise i can't say much, because it looks ok, but it doesn't bounce me off my chair as well...
well actually you can't distribute open source software that easily in the app store. its not been to long since VLC was taken out of the store because of that (i am not talking about the vlc remote. i am talking about video playback for any videoformat you can play in your pc version of vlc.)
another example is the scummvm. we all know it runs perfectly fine on the iphone, but the licensing prohibits a release on the app store.
shame on apple, shame on open source licenses and shame on those software thiefs.
gosh, i am really pissed about the software world. there is so many unnecessary conflicts.
bought a new replacement lense to make my really old kit lense obsolete. the new one has a constant 2.8 aperture (old one had 3.5 to 4.5 depending on the focal length) and almost identical focal length. bonus: the new lense has a built in image stabilizer and USM focus motor. my old lense didn't have that.
i have to wait for better weather to make some sample shots, but as any photographer knows: 2.8 on a zoom lense is pretty much the limit where you can get.

Worked on this 6 months ago when I was still in school. Wanted to make a full custom game with 6 people that had no or little experience with UDK.
I have worked on the first map VolcanoIsland.
Game features 3 classes, bomb planting/defusing and more!

i like the look. gameplaywise it seems like a clone of team fortress, but that's okay with me. good job!
that last one is epic. ![]()
why change to web applications:
i work on enterprise web applications -> much more well paid than mobile applications or games. of course money isn't everything and you could say "it's not as much fun as games", but that is not true. it can get pretty funny, if you take a look at legacy code
so i get more money and i have the same amount of fun. win.
which IDE:
i use eclipse with several plugins. jboss tools, svn plugin, mylyn for integration with the ticket system...
the development process is also supported by maven (serious: who works without it when working with java code?)
i work for a software developer in bonn (former capital city of west-germany). we make mostly web-applications in java for germanys biggest telecommunication enterprise. ![]()
btw my work history is as follows:
2005 game graphics
2008 game graphics
2009 mobile applications
2010 teaching at the uni (limited time contract)
2010 web applications
i like the second one of those polish village shots the most. kind of reminds me of bad mapping skills where a newbie applies the same texture to all buildings ![]()
i considered this to be a public thread because all so privates are kind of annoying to me.
the colors in the photo above weren't changed in photoshop. no saturation or contrast changes. just cropping the view.
well just post something that you made and think is worth being shared with mapcore. ![]()
today i took a photo of the sunset in cologne while the rhine is flooding the promenade.
