Game Of Thrones end of Season One was pretty uneventful but I guess they'll build it all up for Season Two which isn't on DVD until March 2013, so it's torrent time ![]()

Congrats again!

-
PCGamer gave it 62%;
- Called it a door simulator because your objectives are about getting to a door everytime.
- Kills are mostly done with cutscenes (seriously..?)
- Checkpoints are rare and there's no save function.
- Most missions start with just an un-silenced pistol and you can't equipt yourself.
- Agent 47 can put his hand over his face to stop enemies suspecting him of foul play (wtf..?)
- You can't freely roam the missions to plan your strategy before starting them properly...
- Guards instantly spot you in about 3 seconds unless you hide behind something or do a Commando Roll
- Despite being Steam based, you can't play the game offline at all.
Any truth to these?! It all seems quite bizarre to change a formula that has worked so well in the past... I must admit I only ever played the second game, I've never been a fan of stealth.

I am so pissed off with these fucking politicians, who the Hell do they think they are?!

QuoteFrance's foreign minister has said he will discuss supplying arms to the Syrian opposition coalition with European partners.The government plans to push for a relaxation of the EU arms embargo to Syria to enable "defensive arms" to reach opposition fighters.
France is the first Western power to recognise the coalition as the Syrian people's legitimate representative.
Coalition representatives are due to hold meetings in London and Paris.
"Syrian people's legitimate representative" There it is again, what right does France or anyone else outside of Syria have to decide who represents the people? Eventually we'll start arming the rebels and then so will the US and God knows who else.. and there is NO way to make sure that these weapons wont end up in the hands of the extremists and salafists, once they're in the battle grounds.. they can be transported/traded without anyone being able to keep trace of them.
Whilst I wont ever subscribe to mad conspiracy theories about the illuminati and the Rothchilds ruling the world etc it's clear that outside influence in these matters is very much there and many parties have interest in Syria. In fact former NATO general Wesley Clark revealed details of a plan for regime plan in the middle east back in 2001;

Apparently Syria was supposed to be invaded after Iraq but was abandoned because of the insurgency.

Sorry if this is too political, but the last few days of the news from the Middle East has had be raged...

That's by far the best version of that concept I've seen so far, excellent work!

I thought I was dreaming or on the wrong forum for a short time upon seeing this thread here...
What you have to understand is that these rebels actively dig themselves into civilian areas and use the populace as human shields. Ground offensives are extremely costly, so the Syrian army has to mostly bombard the area to wipe the rebels out and they end up hitting residents of the buildings being hit or the surrounding area. It isn't ideal and it's pretty revolting but what else are they supposed to do? I mean when you consider NATO operations in Kosovo and Libya cluster bombing civilian areas, there isn't really any difference is there? Also all this fiasco about the army actively attacking the people in large groups is nonsense, if this was the case then the numbers would be far far higher. Take the 1982 Hama massacre for example, where 10-40,000 militia and people were killed in the space of one month. Rebel corpses are stripped of their weapons and accessories and depicted as civilian causalties regularly too, you even have the rebels dressing up in Syrian army uniform and killing civilians in order to further blame the government. The rebels are also causing massive damage to buildings with their own mortars that they've lifted from fallen units/raided bases and with 'balloon bombs'.
Western coverage of the conflict is becoming so one-sided with the rebels that you have to search out world media to get a better idea of what's going on. The BBC is especially bad, using the so called 'Syrian Observatory for Human Rights' as a legitimate source, which is one anti-government activist living in the UK who gets phone calls about what's going on in Syria.. how on Earth is that a relevant and credible source?! This coupled with one reporter speaking with glee as the rebels plant an IED device, something our troops have been killed with numerous times in Afghanistan and Iraq, isn't that being witness to a war crime? It really makes me deplore BBC's Syria coverage not to mention when they did report on the rebels using someone as a suicide bomber unwittingly, it got deleted a few hours later! Ridiculous.
Also refering to the opposition as the "Syrian people"... Syria is a secular state with freedom of religion and the people are very divided, there are both pro and anti-government sunnis as well as shi'ite alawi then Christians, druze, jews and kurds on both sides of the fence. It is impossible to tell if the people are largely against or for Assad's presidency. The three million strong Government rallies speak some volumes though, it has to be said.
As for the rebels, you have The Free Syrian Army who are *supposed* to be secular but there are definately Islamic movements within the different brigades. The actual openly islamist groups and the salafist groups linked to Al-Qaeda carrying out the suicide and car bombings. There are lots of foreigners in all of them, 40% of the rebel causalties in Aleppo have been non-Syrian according to one doctor including Chechens, Pakistanis, Turks etc amongst them.
So yeah, rather than a war of "Good vs Bad" it's "Somewhat Bad Vs Extremely Bad". I say somewhat because no matter how demonised Bashar is portrayed, he studied in the UK, understands and respects our western culture and way of living and not longer than 3 years ago we were singing his praises in his presidency. Once upon a time, the same could be said for Gaddafi...
Also The Syrian army actually firing into Turkey and Israel on purpose is complete crap, provoking a NATO member to initiate article VI of the charter or reignite a war that has been cold since the 70s, either is no gain whatsoever to Syria and would lead to chaos making the current situation seem like a little scuffle in comparison...

The Crying Game
For those that have seen it;
QuoteKnew instantly that was a man, that voice was completely wrong for a female, forgot though that the actor was also in Stargate as Ra!
Decent film which explores lots of different themes...

Still, one of the best parts of Half-Life is the tram ride...

I personally enjoyed monolith's AVP2 far more than the first one...

Playing Max Payne again, with aim to play MP2 before finally getting around to playing MP3.
It's still so pretty in places, obviously it's aged but some of the really good textures are still pleasing to the eye, though the more ugly photo-raped ones are even more ugly. Bullet time is still some of the most fun I've had in gaming!

Just finished Homeland Episode 5...
QuoteThis storyline about Al-Qaeda working on an attack against the US with Hezbollah because Israel bombed Iran is pretty stupid, there is some debate that the two groups have worked together in the past but no actual proof exists. Even if it did, I doubt Al-Qaeda would give a stuff about Iran, certainly not enough to put their resources into taking revenge, not to mention the militants that targetted shi'ites in Iraq's clusterfuck insurgency... /rant
Anyway the tension between Brody and Carrie here was brilliant, I'm still not sure whether or not she is just playing him to get the answers she wants or if she actually does have feelings for him, either way it's all pretty messed up.
Meanwhile Dana and the vice president's kid ran over a random woman in the street.. so she's either dead and they have to live with the guilt or she survived and the investigation will lead back to them and the VP will likely try to cover it up, only Brody may find out from his daughter and use it as a weapon...

The Descent
Let the Right One in
Dawn of the Dead
Drag me to Hell
Dog Soldiers
28 days later
The Hills have Eyes
Frailty
Grave Encounters
The Mist
Piranha 3D
The Orphanage
Planet Terror
Etc..
Ones in bold, I'll give you those.
DOTD is a remake, so doesn't qualify, same goes for THHE. Drag Me To Hell is good but it's too much of a comedy to be a genuine horror film (Raimi's The Evil Dead 1/2 are also horror comedy but less blatantly so than DMTH or Army Of Darkness). Piranha 3D...? Ok now you're just trolling me lol The remaining titles, I haven't seen so I can't comment.
MaK: The Ring is a US remake of Japanese Ringu and doesn't count.
I had a long think and these are my picks (other than SH);
[REC]
Antichrist
Pan's Labyrinth
30 Days of Night
Wolf Creek
Wrong Turn

Ok maybe I'm going a bit too far there but honestly, name me 10 decent horror films in the last 10 years, no slashers or "torture porn"... Only I can come up with about 4..

and WD episode 3
QuoteKnew that the Governor was going to be a bad guy, why else would the likes of Merle tolerate him? Speaking of which, how cool is his new hand replacement?..! I don't get why they had to kill those soldiers, I mean they could have used them as extra protection for Woodbury. Kind of unrealistic how they managed to kill them all without taking any causalties, the minute the Governor had pulled his gun out, they would have been able to drop him or at least get a few shots off before going down...
Pity Michonne had to kill her zombie pets, they were very cool
Hopefully she'll get replacements... -

' timestamp='1351791570' post='315834']It's another movie based on a game and people don't like it, call the press!
Point being though that the first one was really good, not perfect but certainly one of the most important actual horror films of the last 10 years. That's a credit to director Christopher Gans and the original Silent Hill writers!

SH: Revelation, complete crap.. see relevant thread.
Also watched Homeland S2 episode 4...
QuoteHoly shit, that ending.. I was on the edge of my seat and then the credits rolled... Son of a bitch..! I have no idea what's going to happen now the main cat's out of the bag...
Walking Dead Season S2 Episode 1/2
Holy shit we're off to a good start! They're really not holding back on the violence on this one lol
QuoteI didn't get why Rick started to kill some of the other prisoners after the psychopath was offed, he was clearly unhinged but the other one who ran wasn't that bad? I wonder what will happen with the two he's left alive...
Fucking FX's next week preview showed Merle coming back, twats! We knew it was coming but it's still kinda ridiculous how out of all the places he could turn up, he appears in the same location as Rick's group...
