Different computer, me and dad share the internet via the usb hub, so when he wants it it's switched over here and if I wanted it, it goes upstairs to my games pc. Therefore I can't keep the net on all the time upstairs and therefore can't run steam offline. I'm sure you're meant to be able to run it offline with the red line through the steam icon? I have been able to run it offline but only if I've logged in online beforehand and then disconnected.. ugh..
Well the red icon thing has gone, thanks to Search and destroy scan on reboot. I have a load of crap in startup (msconfig) that points to mallicious files (that are now dead) is there anyway to get rid of those?
Sorry about this like, I've just been a bit fed up recently with personal issues so I've been very careless about this stuff whilst my guard's been let down, I'm an idiot I admit it, any help you can give is appreciated..
For now, my games pc is staying offline till I've got it completely cleared again.

I have that damn about blank thing, and it downloads a virus everytime I open an IE window. I'm also getting popups.. Firewall has done nothing to block this.. wtf?!
No idea how I got this, I have Zonealarm installed now so nothing should be coming through..
I can't seem to find out what the red icon actually is as well..
Done an adaware scan again and I get another 63 items, some of which are in the registry..
They've been deleted now, but I'm still getting problems..

Yes, I searched for the error and found nothing that related to offline play..
Already been suggested by Nexus if you care to look, didn't work at all. It would work if I was online but not offline, I don't wish to have the net on when playing a single-player game.. pointless.
Problems again now with steam? remove clientrigestry.blob in your steam directory and login to steam if it doesnt help i dont know.
That just told me it couldn't run the program whilst offline.
Reinstalled it, made no difference. I'll have to reinstall the whole thing again by the looks of it unless anyone knows what the Hell is up..
Right, I exit steam because I'm about to reboot the machine. I then goto reboot and windows tells me the damn thing is still running and I have to either see if it ends or close it:

I have to close it because it wont fuck off and then the PC reboots, once I've loaded windows up again and Steam goes to load up, this happens:

What the Hell is this?
If I reconnect to the net and run Steam then I can get on HL2 again fine and if I disconnect I can play it offline too, but whenever I now reboot it doesn't want to know, I mean it's supposed to keep you logged in if you choose the 'remember my password' on the login screen and it does so long as you run it from the net first.. but you're not supposed to need to connect up everytime you want to run the damn thing!
Grrr, why can't it just use a simple executable instead of going through Steam all the time?! Meh.

Got HL2 running, medium settings, looks pretty nifty even on that. Loading times are a bit long though and it crashed when I messed around with the video settings (lol) Steam then wouldn't load in offline mode, so I had to reconnect to the net, open Steam and then disconnect again and it was fine. I guess Steam fucks up if you don't close it down properly huh?

Ok, I've been messing with the Internet on my games PC today in order to play HL2, soon after I installed all the software and got connected I started getting these errors:

I've done a scan with AVG and Adaware SE and they come up with nothing. They only pop up when I'm connected to the Net, if I disconnect and carry on as before nothing comes up. They aren't recognised as pop-ups by my blocker so I really don't get what the Hell they are.
