Just an idea i throw out : you could actually try to make the rocks around the map darker than the map itself. It will separate the two, catch the eye on the brick buildings which are the most important part and give a better sense of depth

Well i don't know for the others, but i love the totalwar series for :
- The historical consistency, it makes you learn stuff and the game become really immersive by making you using real tactics. Also there's really a lot of different units so you discover new things quite often.
- The complex gameplay, flanking, combination of troops, using the right unit at the right moment.
- The sandbox feel, it is a bit a "make your story" sort of game, if you can't get into it you won't like the game for very long; like this time i was fighting the army of william wallace as a finish general and totally owned his ass, you put yourself achievements and then you are kinda "proud" of how you did things. Haha i don't know if i explained that very well, but it's like a child playing a lego game other children have, but for him it's his unique lego game.

Why is there not a thread about it already ?

Wow i remember your map after all that time
, looks nice, i still love the textures and your brushwork. But It's really too dark indeed and also, the skybox looks really bland; it's really to bad because on some pics it's on almost half of the screen. Maybe you could had some trees sprites or blend some other textures ? Because your map is really "2 textures oriented"

thanks! it's the DX metal bump render in 3dsmax who do that, i don't know why tho. But it's not a problem once exported

-
Thanks guys ! it's some kids who made grafitis on that poor elephant !! not his warface

too bad i couldn't get rid of the opacity artifacts in 3ds viewport
-
I never thought you could be into this mino, to me it sounds like you need to decorate your underdog's desk !!!
-
Looks cool white devil, but you should really work the back of the tank, it's a bit uninteresting right now
A little prop to show i'm doing something

Klein i hear you, and i'm thinking the same.. that's what i'm trying to do but it's hard to plan some months sitting at home working on the making of "next gen" stuff when you want things to move .. but hey, it seems i don't really have the choice ?

-
To me it's really top notch, be it the content or your presentation. I would indeed make the menu pop out from the rest, you could add a bright flashy color you don't have on the site behind it to make it contrast with the rest ? Congrats anyhow

Quote from Warby
i talked with koko about this very issue in icq a couple of weeks ago and i think i kind of shocked him by implying that i sort of envy him. because the time between jobs were always the best times of my life

I remember that discussion
, but hey as the good old adage says : the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. I have my liberty, sure, i can actually artistically do whatever i want. But i can't conceive a life stuck at home working on freelance stuff, i'm 22, and i feel i need to travel, meet new interesting people and get some life experience.Unfortunately, and i say unfortunately because i wasn't thinking like that one year ago, i feel that i need to make myself a life, a career, kinda "have a plan" and know where i'm going. Have a life you know. Don't get me wrong, i know i could do that more easily in another industry and still making videogame stuff on my freetime like i was doing back then. But i've made a choice, and that's all what counts
.Working in studios give you this stability and make you travel and meet new people, so that's really what i want to head for. But hey as i told you warby, it all depends why you are doing custom maps, community sharing ? to get you a job ? passion ? but if you want to make money, you better find some freelance stuff.

ahhhh ok ! i didn't thought the shortcuts were checkpoints but a way to get faster to the end ! Then nevermind what i've said

-
Damn, this game is really difficult, and i'm not the kind of player who get easily frustrated by difficulity, but woaw. It's really frustrating to die so easily and have to restart from the beggining, he could at least made some checkpoints (or give the possibility to have continues?) between the zones and i would be ok with it, because i feel i always do the same level :/.

That derek yu guy is definitely my hero
