Never played it or heard of it before. According to their site its a special forces mod. Insurgency is about infantry combat.

The name, the logo, "not welcomed as liberators but as invaders". Show me the pro americanism. I cant find it. Both teams are pretty equal presented.

Let me tell you something from my 3 years experience of iraq mapping. To get the realistic look right add SHITLOADS of advertisement signs and decals to the map. everywhere on rooftops, on walls, hanging over the streets etc. Also add shitloads of cables hanging from everywhere even places that seem to be totaly ridiculous for western standarts.

I can see a bus. where is the promised iraq scene?
-
How about a labyrinth map?
-
would depend on your creativity.
or maybe just a nice surrealistic scene with hl2 content that has no purpose except of looking nice?

How about 'surrealism' as theme for a map contest? That would be fun.
everybody could map something like that:

I would be motivated to do something with very limited ressources. i like JonM's idea.
sp, 2048x2048 etc. is just too much time intensive. A nice little contest like the low poly modeling contests would be nice. Something that can be done in 1-2 nights.

this thing would be full of penises and vaginas in germany. people love to draw these things

Haha one of my first maps ever (for duke 3d) was a remake of a bank building where i worked. I'm a possible danger for society and capitalism

actualy in cod-radiant you got two different kinds of patches a) terrain meshes. they are like displacements in hammer except you got more and better options to manipulate them. and b) patch meshes. you use them to build tubes, tunels, fancy geometry and that stuff
Dont know if its the same in doom 3 radiant.
-
you gotta love radiant. patches is what hammer really lacks. like in cod-radiant i could make ten times better terrain. And you dont need props for every little nonsense.
-
Looks good in my opinion especialy the animations and gore effects (as seen in the uncut trailer and the leaked footage).
I hope the game has not over the top action like in cod 2. Less is sometimes more in terms of immersion.
And i hope the mp will be playworthy. The mp in cod 2 was terrible compared to cod 1.
