What is wrong with you ppl, you talk about cameras and not a single person mentions cameras made by god himself Canon.

Canon (insert model name here) kicks ass big time, I should know, I have been using them for years and taken thousands of photos and even sold some and used them in ads and public stuff. I have used some other cameras like the Nikon D70 here at work and I say the Nikon UI sucks hiney.

Well I finally made it, took off the old site with nothing but profanity and hidden secrets only for members.

So I made me a new site to showcase something.. umm.. you know the things I do, which is.. you know, stuff?

No seriously, I'm going to keep that in good condition and trying to keep it alive atleast for a while, after this job thing is over I even might get some 3d modeling and concept art done.

So go-go Kosmov and tell me what you think about the layout and over all feeling. I'm in the middle of adding some new content to the site since I just published it yesterday so be patient about it, might take few weeks.

Dammit Remedy is certainly on it again, and this time they show that the company can change and do something different for a while (would be a good lesson to learn for id eh?). And they really have the most talented developers there.

I would apply for a position, I got good few years of 3d studio max experience, but it's not about that it's more about the fact that I have too much respect for Remedy and I don't think I have the skills needed to do something up to their level of work.

the 4 queens jackpot at the time was $116. i also won about $50 from the pot.if you play poker in a casino (in this case I was at the Aladdin) they usually have a board on the wall that indicates the additional jackpot if you hit a certain hand.

the jackpot hands are usually 4 duces and up. that means there are 13 four-of-a-kind jackpots, as well as 12 straight-flush jackpots (determined by high card the S-F, not the suit) and of course 4 royal flushes (one for each suit).

so each jackpot hand starts off at $50. if no one hits a particular hand it goes up a certain amount every 6 hours or every day or something the casino has predefined. so that means a hand could go up and up in value if no one happens to hit it. because someone hit 4 queens the day before, my jackpot was only $116. but the 4 eights jackpot hadn't been hit in a few days, and that jackpot was over $700.

then the straight flush hands were really high, most at least a few thousand dollars and some over 6 or 7 thousand.

when the 4th queen landed on the river it took me a second to realise I had won a jackpot. too bad it wasn't higher, but shit i'll take it.

I don't know what the fuck you just said, but it's beautiful and when you type it the letters are ever so beautiful than mine good sir and I envy your monetary prowess, you are my new beacon in the darkest night.

  • SLI Technology

    • May 4, 2005 at 12:30 PM

Well old Voodoo cards were way better than the new nVidia cards, other than that, everything is the same.

But if you are so mezmerized by SLI you should take a look at Gainwards 3D1 that employs the SLI technology on one card, it has two cores running on SLI, but the benefits are prettymuch same as normal SLI setups and the PCI-E is still only 8x not 16x as it should be with one card setup.

The popularity of SLI is bringing market more and more motherboards with two PCI-E slots for SLI use, espacially since nVidias own nForce4 chipset supports this as a standard.

There is nothing innovative with SLI, it was engineered by the brilliant minds behind all 3Dfx technology several years ago, there is nothing innovative in nVidia all together, without the 3Dfx engineers they would have bankrubted.

Well don't hit me for saying this BUT you could/should (if you ask me) go with 14-inch iBook costs about 1500$ or the smaller ones if you don't want to spend that much. You get state of the art machinery and state-of-the-fucking-art OS Mac OS 10.4 TIGERRRR! Plus you get so much software to go that you'll choke.

    Besides PCs are accident prone.

The white background is not part of the logo, it is backgroundless in it's current state, if used in same color background then the other color version or the version with background is used.

So the colors are not a problem right now.

    • May 3, 2005 at 11:08 AM

Yeah I was afraid that it might seem like VD but it didn't look that "hot" with the straight line, made it look too tight and boxy, so I gave it some freedom to breath with that extra curve.

Yeah the colors really tickle my spine, the originals look good, but they are in CMYK values and it notches everything step or two lighter when brought to Photoshop and RBG so they look too bright.

I'm considering that I might make the line with another color so that it separates the text and the "border".

The old Logo had the .net added but I think this might be just Kosmov since I'm going to use it as my trademark for other designs than just Kosmov.net

Nice design, how it works with different resolutions/browsers/platforms? It comes to me as a pretty heavy on the bling bling, and I like my things minimal. You don't have any subtle piece on your site, everything feels like too heavy and carved with meaning so people might get confused with the site.

How about the technical side? What is being used? Full CSS or tables? Seems pretty hard to update, but that is your problem so the end user don't care, but you might not want to make small updates because of all the hard work it requires and updates are less frequent.

I like the harmony of the colors, brings some breath of fresh air, but it is taken down by the book in the middle which seems too heavy and unintended for some reason.

I hope that helps, great design.

I'm trying few ideas I have had in my head for a long time, my sandbox Kosmov.net is in need of a new logo since I got it to myself last weekend (meaning my friends who had a part ownership on it, gave it to me).

So what I'm after here is some contemporary look, and I like overdoing things when I'm doing thins for Kosmov since it started as a parody and will continue it's life as one.

But onward to the issue, say what you think about it and try to be constructive.

The colors are obviously not final I'm finetuning the colors atm.

Well we are at a clear turning point at the time in game industry.

There are several things that affect the work indy developers, the growing popularity of MMORPGs has made people buy their games from internet, since many smaller MMORPGs distribute their games only through internet they are accustomed to this kind of distribution and there already are few sites on the internet that try this kind of distribution method and are somewhat succesful.

This opens a whole new channel to get the games to gamers with minimal expenses.

Other thing that I am actually excited (even tho many gamers sneer the idea) is the in-game advertising. This not only immerse the game world but creates revenue for the developer, it's not long till the qestin of "how much will the developer buy for the rights to use product X's name in the game" it will be "how much will the product X buy to get his name in the game" and this makes things easier for the developer as a source for extra money for the game development.

As for Valve, they have been an innovator in the industry, and I'm sure they are up to something, we just have to wait and see.

Well not actually, it's about using the development funds to greater goods actually, UMD can't and won't be used for anything else than PSP or other Sony products, the same was with MD and it's a waste.

Izune reminded us about a very good example, the videotape wars, there were three competitors at the market out to grab the marketshare, VHS, Betamax and Video 2000, video distributing was not so easy, but VHS made out of it as a winner since it was the cheapest.

Sony promises us uses for UMD in other products like DVD players with UMD support, well that is a step backwards, you can't put good quality video in the UMD's 1,8 gig space, so it's useless in traditional sense like DVD. Now what we have is again one useless piece of media with only one device to read them (unless PS3 can read them).

That is what this is all about.

Did you even read the article I posted?

You must know that Sony does alot more than just consoles, sony mentality is seen in every aspect, Sony decided to use blu-ray discs in their PS3 even when DVDForum is against the format, so what this means is that now again we get yet another new format from sony, and believe me it is starting to be a big bunch of "kiss my ass" attitude from sony camp with ATRAC, MiniDisc, Memory Sticks, UMDs and now blu-rays, and knowing sony, they will be looking in to blu-ray discs for the next new format to distribute movies just to up the PS3 sales (even tho PS3 does read DVDs).

But yeah, I can agree, "If you don't like it, don't buy it" it works, and that is exactly what people who are concerned about the future of consoles and PCs alike should do. But usually people don't give a rats ass about these things.

    Quote

Consoles had their own standarts for decades with a big success.

Again a thing that should not be taken lightly, the game cartridges that are prettymuch dead now (except Nintendo Game Boy series) and we have finally got consoles to standards, DVDs or MiniDVDs (don't know if the NGC game disc is anything like DVD) why should we just trash everything?

Standards and unwritten rules are good for you.
