A 60 who has all his epic shit will have a huge headstart toward 70 over a new 60 who has very little. That's your reward for having spent so much time grinding the instances. So use it to your advantage, if you're quick enough to 70 most of the issues you outlined are unimportant. And once you hit 70 you can go back to grinding instances. Are you really complaining that they're offering you *more* to do in that godforsaken game?

*ed: essentially I think the barrier to entry is too high, the learning curve is too steep, the documentation is basically vapor, the custom content pipeline is fucking ridiculous and all in all there are better games to mod for. The mod scene carried HL1. It can't and won't carry HL2. Valve have shot themselves in the foot by doing so little to make it easy for us--just look how many of our veteran, prolific HL1 mappers have even released custom maps. It's just too much of a pain in the ass.

they've gotten a lot better since your old one but really, if you're going to get one get a good one not a cheap one. if you're worried about cost suffer through a good CRT; if you want something *nice* get a good LCD :]

IMO the only reason not to buy a (well-made) LCD display these days is price. And that is coming down. One of my samsungs is like 25ms and I have absolutely no qualms gaming on it, I see no ghosting or lag or whatever. I think it's just ridiculous to throw numbers around without experiencing a monitor firsthand.
