Russell Crowe wants to play Steve Irwin in a film based on the life of the 'Crocodile Hunter'.The Oscar-winning Australian actor - who has repeatedly spoken of his affection for friend Steve after he was tragically killed, aged just 44, by a stingray - is in talks with Universal Studios about making a biopic.

Crowe, 42, is desperate to make the movie as he feels it would be a fitting tribute to the wildlife expert's life.

An insider told In Touch Weekly magazine: "It's not about money for Russell - it's about honouring his friend.

"Steve once told Russell that he wanted him to play him in a movie version of his life."

A public memorial was held for father of two Steve on Wednesday.

His eight-year-old daughter Bindi read out a tribute to her dad and a pre-recorded video message from Crowe was broadcast.

The 'Gladiator' star said: "We've all lost a friend, we've lost a champion, and we're going to take some time to adjust to that."

Other tributes came from Australian Prime Minister John Howard, 'Dances With Wolves' star Kevin Costner and Cameron Diaz.

Australian TV executives are already in talks about releasing a DVD of the memorial service which was attended by 5,000 people.

this splinter cell is like all those command and conquer, monkey island, need for speed sequel stuff. you get better graphics, more detailed models and textures, but the game does not change.

It varies from person to person, but for me, the reason I play a game is for the storyline. I play a game to see and experience what is happening to the characters and the game universe (hence why I don't play many multiplayer games that arent MMOs). If I enjoy playing a game, its because of what happened in the game, and what the story of a game accomplished (the same reasons anyone would watch a movie). If I enjoy the setting, the universe, and the characters enough, then they could make 55 sequals to the game, and as long as the story related to the other 54 games and I was still able to get something out of it, then there will be at least 55 games on my shelf.

Splinter Cell has yet to let me down. If the gameplay doesnt change, just graphics, but the story/gameplay is still as engrossing as its predecessors, I say keep them coming.

While it sucks, I can't wait for most of those games to come out. They sound badass (Splinter Cell 5!!!)

only way its gonna get on the front page now is if you get about 30 diggs in about a half a day.

The more you know about the digg system, the more it tends to suck. Theres about 20 users on digg that just mass digg each others stories and thus hog the front page. Thats why I personally enjoy the slashdot system more.

Rally up people. It generally takes about 60-90 diggs for an article to get on the front page of digg.

you should put the Powered By Pligg footer back in there along with a source code link. Gotta respect the devs and the GPL. I'm not trying to be an ass about it, just saying is all.

String Theory is king. It may not be correct, but there has to be a single series of equations that explains everything about the universe.

Ok, so let's see wich one of us actually payed for anything Microsoft related without getting a legal copy of it with the purchase of your PC?

Got Windows XP Pro through school for $13, Visual Studio 2005 for $18, and Office 2003 for $15, and work paid for my Windows Server 2003.

As for the whole piracy thing, I'm all for giving developers/artists what they deserve, I just wish they didnt choke it up with DRM (or in the case of starforce, malware).

And I really wish people would stop calling piracy "stealing". Online Piracy is not stealing, its Copyright Infringment, however the difference in no way justifies piracy. Both are very much illegal, but very different.
