I placed portals into the room, then put my back to one portal and set down the frankencube so he walked through the portal and out the other end. Then he walked past all the lasers and fell into the button pit to turn on the laser. Then i put one portal where the laser dead-ends on the wall, and the other on the white surface closest the door. Then you can jump through the portal (and over the laser) and run to the wall next to the turret on the ledge before it can see you. Then place the other portal so the laser routes into the laser catch, bingo!

Is there a way to publish a map without the five minute Cave Johnson intro speech? It's already old hearing it the second time. I don't know if it was intentional but

I ran past the perched turret after activating the laser by putting a portal on the wall adjacent the button pit. Maybe that is power to the player, but I felt like I was exploiting the puzzle.

Hey Dan, Got any pictures of your kismet scripts?Curious how you handled getting the numbers.

yar. probably many other ways of doing this in kismet, some of those more efficient. I attached a trigger to each side of the cube and placed a Note above the dice pit. After the dice juggle and are released to settle, I check the distance of each trigger in relation to the note. Seems to work fine 95% of the time, where the 5% might be considered physics bugs (possibly a scripting bug on my part) where the die will just impossibly settle on an edge rather than on a face. The important part; ONE and TWO

Small exercise I did in kismet with UDK. Rolling dice! Why...? I don't know. Would have been way easier with good old fashioned text scripting. I doubt you'd ever want to do this as a production feature, but it was kind of fun to figure out how to do it.

Right trigger = start juggle, center trigger = stop juggle, left trigger = reset

i love this game and i hate this game. it is the ultimate "one more try" where you say that about fifty times before actually rage quitting. the platinum medals are really hard on this one...

but then it really fell flat on its face and I just find myself frustrated with it to no end. Navigating the world to a specific location is a real pain in the ass, and then when you get there the solution not at all obvious. I am mostly talking about an area that has a "Secret" indicated on the map. I have 22 cubes and don't really see what I am supposed to do now so I am just trying to get gold plating (cleared) on each world. I found the one world with a 32 cube door, but I feel like that is the completionist goal and not the regular endgame goal.

Is that the film where someone has to cross a small gap by inching across a pipe with their teeth? I heard someone tell me about a japanese/korean movie where that happened and I think he said it was about 40 minutes long. Sounds pretty fucked up, as you might imagine

    - Take up smoking so you can take long breaks every 2-3 hours and not get blamed for it

    - Bring your own coffee or tea because the work coffee/tea is shit

    - Set up auto defrag schedule every day because syncing thousands of assets every day will make your PC suffer

Thanks for sharing the texture breakdown screen. I took a quick look in UDK but only managed to come across two of the different embedded textures (there are about 100 options in the damn texture setup window :E)

Pretty awesome, sock. I love the overall shape as well as the details you've got going on (is that perspective playing tricks or did you actually rotate all the nuts slightly differently?). The research really seemed to help. If I was to nitpick anything it would be the presentation of your site. Having size options doesn't seem to matter too much in current day internets, and only one screen can be open at a time. Maybe I could also learn to look at one screen, read a little bit and then look at the next screen

Looks like a classic Silent Hill 2 apartment-esque layout. Do the "locked" rooms ever open?
