I think some of the shots could benefit from a little cropping.

    For example:

The bar one is nice, loads of strong colours.

I'm going to go out on a limb and disagree with Ferret here.

The room really doesn't need any additional polygons.

Looks like more of the same, a bit dull if you ask me. Too short to draw any conclusions from.

Just read something in a magazine that states that the PC version of Fable will allow you to work in a brothel.

Been feeling too tired to work on this for a bit, so I'll post a WIP:

Slightly draconian, but there we go. At least they're not banning them outright.

  • F.E.A.R. SP Demo

Funny, F.E.A.R runs alright on my not-so-cutting-edge Athlon XP 3000 (something's wrong with it, it's clocking in at 1.1ghz), 1gig of ram and R9800.

Even when I max stuff out at 1024x800 it still remains playable enough to do combat, albeit not exactly smoothly.

Onto the game itself: firefights felt oddly uninvolving, despite the crap flying all around the place, it never felt seriously satisfying. Weapons are a bit generic, as Mazy observed. Environments are dull, only the paranormal tension kept the interest up.

The scary bits are alright, but it doesn't scale the heights of Silent Hill (pun fully intended). The ladder bit made me jump though. For some reason I never felt at risk during these super-natural bits. Definately not a terrifying experience - perhaps it's because the combat acts as a pressure valve.

Maybe the game opens up later, most opening levels seem to be a bit dire (maybe Monolith should have done a Valve and released something in the style of Uplink?).

Aye, it's a very nice place. If you do go though, only stay in Rome for a couple of days - I stayed a week and frankly, there's not enough to fill the week. Southern Italy is beautiful, well worth the excursion if you're in Italy.

Thanks for the kind comments guys

Went to Rome about a month ago, it's a great place. I was originally going to put these pics in with the first roll from my new SLR, but I managed to expose that and ruin it

Shot with some very un-fancy equipment (A colour Boots disposable point'n'shoot and a B&W one). I don't think they're too shabby. Token cat pic included ~

Everyone's given you pretty sound advice so far.

Not to scare you off, but you have a lot of work ahead of you. Learning to create content for modern games is a very daunting task. Don't be put off though, keep at it.

Set yourself clear learning goals, work hard and take people's feedback seriously.

I prefer editable poly, it keeps the model cleaner while you're working on it, less confusing

mike-0, I don't think so, you'll probably have to export to md3 (Q3 format) then convert in milkshape :/

Props for not wanting to pirate anything btw
