Team Fortress 2 is scarily close to CS when you consider just what the other incarnations Team Fortress have been like since its birth on Quake. TF2 isn't really a good example because everyone who liked the various versions of TF cried blood when reading the description - about how it is now deadly realistic with slow movement, high damage, armoured vehicles, controlled bursts of fire, rocket launchers with one shot and little emphasis on symmetrical forts with flags in them. Done obviously to fit the fad of realism, because people aren’t happy these days unless it’s two teams fighting with realistic weapons, damage and settings - because intuition and imaginative ideas are depreciated, as people might actually have to play one game slightly different than the thousand others it closely resembles.

Recreating maps isn't testing the engine.

I've noticed a lot of graphical artefacts with the water and specular surfaces, lots of white around the outside of water where it doesn’t know what to reflect and vertical streaks through specular textures. And given I have an x900, I doubt it’s my system.
Another really irritating thing is it doesn’t seem to load an objects properties until they’re needed, i.e. if you shoot a chair for the first time it freezes for a second, works out what a chair does, then flings it/smashes it and from that point all chairs are hunky-dory – why doesn’t it get all this stuff when it loads?
And the physics aren't that brilliant to be honest, they'll be better in HL2 when you can manipulate them more I assume, but the average gunfight in CS:S puts half the objects through other objects, lands them in stupid positions or makes them develop some kind of magnetic field which repels players.

Phantom Brave!
Nevermind that's another CRPG (TRPG in fact). If you want hack & slash you can't do much better than the Diablo series even if it is ancient. I'm personally not a fan of RPGs where you can "go anywhere and do anything! Except follow a plot!" unless it's online and prefer something more involving (I probably could've got into Morrowind if it didn't freeze constantly in combat) - but each to his own.

IIRC null faces always exist, they just aren't drawn in game - i.e they will have leaf, light, portal, etc data like everywhere else.

I remember fearing I'd incur your wrath when I first joined mapcore.

It doesn't anger me at all, I just like watching you make a complete fool of yourself. And I think it's even funnier that, once I and several other people point it out, you go and make a BIGGER fool of yourself. And I think it's even better still when you think you're coming off looking like a really smart and witty guy when everyone else is rolling their eyes and sighing heavily at your expense. There's nothing better than a pretentious know-it-all (especially a borderline biggot) digging themselves a nice big hole. Keep it up, you're nearly past the Earths crust.
