The mousetrap anology sounded pretty sane at first but then I thought about it and it fell apart, would be interesting to talk to him and ask how he reason about it.

Yeah, I guess it is mostly Finland then, we suck at many sports but kick ass in information technology.

How do you know Finland kick ass in IT?

since it is not a crime to be pregnant, well, atleast the law doesn't blame you.

Well you have to pay child support wiether she lied about birth control or not.

It's everyones own job to keep your shit checked.

    Unless I get HIV.

You shouldn't judge it by my description of it, after all, they are scientists and what I recall of you, you are not

Your description is all I have to judge it with, my fault since I'm no scientist no doubt.

    Quote from The Postman

All sarcasm aside though, do you seriously think it has a place in a science classroom?

Heck no, whats next algebra in history class?

If someone asks about it in science class refer to religion or philosophy class.

I like because it makes time travel possible and it explains more clearly the infinite space to a small human brain that can't comprehend something that is infinite.

Pfft I do time travel all the time no big deal.... one second for each second.

    Quote from Kosmo

space isn't actually endless, but when traveled far enough time starts to move and not space, thusly we enter in to another universe

Hehe, time must pass for space to move, and space not moving would be the same thing as if time stopped and the distance to another universe is not counted in lightyears, if it where it wouldnt be another universe.

Yes Kosmo, correctly observed however to make my thought process clearer:

I't your fault if she gets pregnant when trusting her when she says shes on the pill.

But it's her fault if you trust her when she says she don't have HIV.

They are so similar but depending on the result the blame is so different.

  • My fault when she lies.

    Haha, truth.

  • My fault when she lies.

    • mawibse
    • October 14, 2005 at 10:34 AM

    I thought occurred to me;

you meet a girl she says she’s on the pills but she lies, then it’s still your fault that she gets pregnant and you are evil if you don’t wanna contribute and can be forced to do so by the law.

But if you meet a girl and she says she doesn’t have HIV but she lies then it’s her fault that I get the disease and she can be punished by law.

Both scenarios include me having sex that I would not have had if she had told me the truth. And both results in a for me life changing event.

But in one the result is my fault and in the other it’s hers.

    What am I missing?

JynxDaddy for a more detailed description of phase 2:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_evolution

Though it didnt start with RNA as it says, but you have to wait a couple of years, I think, before they got that tricky bit more sorted out.

    Quote from The Postman

Quick question Mawibse. Do you think that Intelligent Design has any place in the science classroom given that it is not scientific, what-so-ever?

Sure, if they in church everytime they say something about man being made by god from dust on the ground with god breathing life into him by the nostrils also mentions the theory put forward by Darwin on how god instrumented mans creation, and that the bible is more of a spiritual guide and not to be taken litterally.

but in trut it was formed by something else that was there, which by no means is nothing. Comprende? Or should I demonstrate it with two lifelike dolls?

Aahh so by "nothing" you actually mean "by no means nothing", next time start with the lifelike dolls demonstration, it would make more sense.

    Quote from Kosmo

I'm sorry if I laugh loudly to you, but by your theory, if god really existed and he came to us and told us the absolut truth to everything, it couldn't possibly be true because we know about it?

My theory is that if god told you the absolute truth about everything, you wouldn’t be human anymore you’d be god.

And what god would tell you wouldn’t even remotely resemble anything you’d ever or any human ever had or would ever had dreamt of, little less rationally thought about.

    Quote from Kosmo

Hmm ... makes sense, but Big Bird and Cookie Monster have also some theories about this, not that they matter since they are as insane as you are.

    They are not even close.

    Quote from Kosmo

I'm well aware of the saying "to be truely smart is not to know that you know everything, but is to know that you know nothing" or something googaa like that, but are YOU aware of the saying "don't look far for answers to questions asked near."

Yes, "don’t look far..“ seems like a very good saying when talking about the universe expanding and black holes....

    Quote from Kosmo

Sometimes we have to take what we have and start from there, because at the beginning THAT was just an apple, then it was small particles that naked eye couldn't see and then it was a black hole in space. All which we tought to be absolute, but all opened a new door.

And according to you, until we discover the truth about black holes and then, holy cow, the explanation of everything was there!!

Well I don’t think so, it’s just another opened door revealing hundreds of closed ones.

    Quote from GrayFox

Now you are correct. The properties of an atom are dependent on its electron configuration. Mere electrons don't really make up anything.

Well, I'll try to be correct and remember not to say "mere electrons" next time.

Oh dear, I've gone quote crazed again...

black holes dont make matter dissapear, they turn it into hawkin radiation.

Yes and no, black holes don’t just make matter disappear but they certainly don’t turn it into hawking radiation.

Hawking radiation is where one particle of a virtual particle pair is sucked into the hole while the other becomes real. Yeah it sounds crazy, but that’s because I simplified it. It’s even crazier in the complicated version…

    Quote from Kosmo

you might want to try pretty much everything, the little we understand about black holes, they are center points of everything and key to every imaginable question we have about universe and how it was born.

How convenient, something we already know to exist is the key to everything.

Tell you what, the same goes for anything else, when I know all there is to know about the electron I could explain a black hole. And since electrons make up an apple all I need to know is an apple. Yes the apple is a metaphor for a black hole, trust me, black holes are not even a spit in the ocean of explaining everything, no matter how cool they appear to us.

If we knew more about black holes sure we would know a lot more but to think it’s the key to everything, naah no way we are that lucky.

Just as always, when we have explained the black hole we will have a lot more questions then what we just answered.

In the end, the apple has to do with you as much as the black hole has to do with the expansion of the universe. It's connected but sure isnt a key.

    Quote from Kosmo

And there are theories that the matter, like I said doesn't disappear anywhere it just transforms to something else and can be transformed back, and that matter be it hawkin radiation or something else, created the universe, and in other words, matter was created from "nothing."

So that matter is transformed to something else then back again is what you refer to as "matter created out of nothing", I don’t think you could scientifically say that "something else" could be nothing.

The expanding universe has nothing to do with adding matter anywhere. The only matter added to earth over time is space dust and other matter it attracts or collides with, but over all it is quite insignificant in regards to magnetic fields or gravity and such even over 100 of millions of years.

Not sure what black holes as to do with the expanding universe?

Like I said before matter don't get added just because the universe is expanding.

If I seriously beleive that anything can live on earth before its created?

It's obviously a sin to exist before god told it too!!!

I thought the glaring logical error gave it away?

I think it's a sin to live long before god created earth so, yes they where all flooded.
