It's actually quite sad. I don't even know why we have requests. No one gives to ***** anyways. Sorry Slapshot, but it's sad that no one really helps out in these requests.

Wow, Zaphod, that has to be one of the more really realistic textures i've seen lately. And it suites the old one well. Love it.

I decided to give it a go. This is actually like one of my favorite if not the favorite Half-Life 1 texture. Creates that whole lab style.

Yes, I know, should've made a 512x512 version, but it was too late. Either way it's a higher resolution than the original.

I feel exactly the same way as Frie. It's always pleasing when you post something clown, I almost always make a good sigh everytime. Keep it up dude.

Oh and Bolteh, as someone said, I think it was ol. The pipes on that tunnel set are pvc. In other words plastic. Conduit piping. Although you have made some stunning textures none the less.

I must aggree with D3, some of the Half-life textures you can clearly see they're photo's edited.

That's why this is hard imo, they old texes and with maybe bad resolution, but I still mantain that they (not all, like most of the fifties series aren't real looking and are hand drawn) are generally quite realistic looking. So making new ones at higher res's in my opinion doesn't classify them as better.

First I can't believe more than one of you didn't get what I meant.

Anways simply put, why would you want a pentagram in it? Was it to try and make it seem hectic ? Or Hardcore <-- there's that word again. I know it's meant to be like hell, but I doubt hell would have stupid symbols in it. It's a lake of sulphur where people experience horrible deaths and torture.

Most games and people usually can't come up with more imaginative ways to make something seem evil, so they settle with adding something called contraversy to their work. In order to give it that edge. Player sees pentagrams, player thinks oooo, this must really be an evil place. Whereas other games like Silent Hill rely on pure genious to push that accross (Not saying a cs map is similar to a 3rd person puzzle survival horror). I'm simply talking from a design perspective.

I got what you mean TWTW if it makes you feel better

As they say, "Flogging a dead horse." heh.

Anyways, I will if I have too. Currently working on Master Sword : Continued, and until my jobs done, I'll continue to work on it. I've really only released 2 and now a third map using Half-Life (excluding all my private maps), but I've feel i've done enough. I just wish I created my Half-Life sp project I made all on paper when I was still a super uber fanatic years ago.. Pitty I missed my opportunity for that. Anyways, that's another story...

I can try that more compact effect, which would require quite abit of shuffling and some serious brush movement, but it wasn't kinda what I was going for in this map. The road fits wagons to go both ways, kinda essential I think. Very comfortable size for many players to run around togther, something like Ungarn I don't see working here. To me the roads feel quite comfortable. I could be wrong, so guess it's up to what other people say. But remember this is meant to be a capitol. More City or Town than Village. And thanks heh.

Stupid name for a map. I just get, "Trying to be Hardcore" from it. Which = n00b for me.

I see you replaced the Star of David for the Pentagram. Which, guess what, screams "Trying to be Hardcore once again.

Otherthan that, it seems to have a nice overall effect. Not mindblowing, but I don't expect every map to be. Looks like it would be kinda fun to play as well, cept I'd never put that on my machine. But that's what you get I guess for mapping for certain target groups.

To be frank, that's because it's meant to be a city. Not a little village. I wouldn't put a beacon and various other things if it was meant to be a small village, roads would be more narrrow too.

This is more of a well structured, human capitol. Not something that's really grownen from a couple plebs building rubbish like squatters. There are actually height differences, but most things follow an actual floor size, ie. floors are usually a standard size. So if something is tall, it's most likely 2 - 3 floors high. To keep it realistic, since this is meant to be a quite well built civilization.

As for the whole 90 degree thing, I've take that in consideration, probably do that to some of the buildings (not many) just to help pull off an effect. Thanks for the advice.

Time to pimp updated shots again. Same areas as usual just with improvements. Since this is a WIP forum.

LOOK the litt0l windows are alit with life!!!! Yeah, more ambience and more detail. You can see the side street grocers dig on the street there.

It's sad that i've only read fully this thread now, been kinda busy. Great work guys, Tisky it seems you've improved as you go along, the cliff looks correct now. As for Delaz, you really have to stop doing that overboard grain effect, otherwise, it's all pretty good. Yeah, the texture being made more plastic is waay better than before. Apparently alot of people misunderstand those Half-Life 1 textures. Plastic is plastic people. Remember, these are labs.

More guys should be more loyal to the game rather than trying to release thier "artistic talent" as it were. Was going to say something else, but i'm going to refrain from releasing my comments in this case.

Although it actually may seem big, it actually isn't. There's not too many actual indoor shops because the r_speeds would be nuts if alot of those building had insides. But so far there's a BlackSmith, a small Tavern / Inn with two rooms + bar area, oh and a barracks that you can enter, as well as a Church / Temple and then there's going to be a side street grocer, then the harbour area.

The game has stamina, so yeah, you right, it would suck to run around at earlier levels and run out of stamina to a slow crawl. And again you right in saying that it's mainly no action, a place where you can buy and sell goods etc... Like you said.

Tomorrow I guess I'll post the overheadshot, just want to see what the people actually think of the map as it stands. But not many people are actually criting or even commenting good or bad on the map at all. So I don't know. I just know I like it heh, as with a few other people...

Here are some new shots of the map. The Harbour shots are very wip. The boat is incomplete, going to add sails that flap around and stuff. Still going to add lights that are on in some of the house windows later.

As for the lighting as fetter and Zaphod said. I have improved it. It's been darkened and there's more contrast. The light_environment has more of a blue-ish hue like the sky, you can mainly notice it on the beacon itself. Unfortunately, I've been screwing around with my brightness and gamma settings because mine on MS were set to full everything, so some shots I think my appear very dark, but hey, it's night time.

    [Blocked Image: http://www.gamingeye.com/temp/personal/kreigore/ewok/deralia_beta2_10.jpg]

The beacon's fade is gone now, now it just has a normal glow with some sparkly effect stuff which is pretty cool in-game.

    [Blocked Image: http://www.gamingeye.com/temp/personal/kreigore/ewok/deralia_beta2_013.jpg]

The Blacksmith now has items lying on his table with a hammer on the anvil and stuff. The area was a little dark so I added a lantern. There's also thatch roofing over the place as was suggest by Tayl0r.

Shot of the docks as it currently stands. The best thing about this area imo is the ambient sounds when running around, you hear like a wind as you walk through the tunnels leading to the docks and as you approach the ship / boat you hear creaking of wood and stuff. Very cool.

I would have new shots of the improved lighting and some really early shots of the harbour / dock area, but hey what can I say, got this new compile error that i've never got before. If anyone can help, it would be appreciated and speed the progress of the map.

    The error is...

    Error: File read failure

    Thanks. Ewok out.
