  • Remake HL textures

If I could spend more time on it I would refine it a little bit more . . . I think it fits the original pretty well though. 512x256 would be uber-skinny. The original is 128x80.

nice mike, only thing I don't really go for is the 1 pixel black lines, makes it feel kind of cartoony. But thats just my opinion. The concrete looks great.

If I could click an option and make it appear below, then I would. But changing it requires a mod to the forum code. I may be able to get eeenmachine to look at it next week.

there will be a tool released that will automatically go through the hl1 maps and replace the old hl wad textures and replace them with new high rez ones and re-scale them.

  • HL2 tool question.

worldcraft if you want to convert it to hl2. You probably don't have long to wait for the hl2 tools though.

If eeenmachine has some time, I'll have him look and see how hard it would be to put the rank image below the avatar.

We have decided to start giving custom titles with a little badge on them to everyone who gets work put into the spotlight gallery. Hopefully this will motivate people to post some more amazing finished content, and earn some of the people that have already proven themselves a little respect. The graphic we are using right now is temp, the transparency is pretty rough, so when one of us gets around to it we will make it prettier. If you want to submit something for the spotlight gallery, it must be finshed, and posted in the Finished Work Gallery. From that forum we will pick out the cream of the crop and move it to the coveted spotlight gallery.

Yea, I think it's ok to frown upon it, and to say that you should probably not follow your reference that closley, if your reference is someone else's screenshot. I just think it's not as serious as say, making another dod map with that in it. it's like there is no conflict of interest there, except for in the artistic community. I'm not saying it's cool to do, but you guys reacted like he just drop kicked a baby off a freeway overpass.

I changed it to Squad, welcome to our forums

Generally it's best to only post pictures of your own work in a WIP level thread?? I have to assume the things you show off in these forum threads is the work of the person who posted the thread, otherwise things like this get confuzzled.

Am I the only one who feels this isn't really that huge of a deal? I guess it's kind of rude artistically, but it's pretty obvious from the screenshots if you look closely that he didn't rip the map or anything like that, he just built the scene with the arrangement and similar architecture of the screenshot. He's not using the same textures or anything. I could totally understand if it was for another dod map, but this is like a single player RPG mod isn't it? Nobody is going to see this and become confused thinking it was someone elses work when it's not. I think a little ribbing is in order for catching him, but I don't think he meant anything bad by it . . . It really is his own work, he just copied something by eye from a screenshot, I see no evidence that he literally ripped off someone elses work and tried to pass it off as his own. Do I think he was wrong to copy a reference so closley, especially from anther hl map? Yes, and it should probably be frowned upon. But you guys are making it sound much more severe than what it is I believe. I don't think there was any malicious intent here . . .
