I missed that about Robben. The papers aren't writing about it either so I wouldn't know.

He jumped straight over the nearest barricade, pulled off his jersey and looked very angry. No high-five to the new player, nothing. Just a small thing but it wasn't very sportsman-like.

Italy vs Crotia could become interesting tonight. Not really interested in watching the Spaniards destroy the Irish

The German goal machine is gaining steam. What was up with Robben btw.? He acted like a spoilt brat when he was exchanged. It's probably what you said, Sprony: no heart.

I only caught glimpses of the 2nd half of the match between POR and DEN but it looked like those Danes are always good for a surprise. Looking forward to Sunday.

POL vs RUS was a great match. When Arshavin is up to his game he can play a single pass to circumvent the entire opponent's defence. He then reminds me of Xavi, but during the 2nd half he just looked like he was trying to run through a wall. Regardless I rooted for Poland and the goal by Kuba was amazing.

    Bring on GER vs NED!

Imagine if Sim City 3000 was a F2P title with a barebones selection of buildings and you had to pay real money to acquire new ones, new subway systems etc... Where would be the fun in that?

Nowhere, because that's a terrible idea. I've played many hours of Hero Academy without putting down a single cent. You can play the default race as long as you like, but to unlock different races you'll have to pay. I don't know how well it monetizes but from a 'fun' perspective it's a game that I enjoy(ed) quite a lot despite it being f2p. Point being: it's not all bad.

I did not want to reply at first but this comment is really bothering me. Could you elaborate how you have come to this conclusion?

Market saturation, specially with garbage titles. The same happened with the tween/casual market on the DS and Wii and the mobile market.

You're implying that free2play titles are low quality games, but if anything this move by Crytek shows that AAA developers have begun to adjust to the f2p model. Yes, all the money that is being pumped into the space will consequently mean that there will be many more f2p games and many will suck, but the idea is disruptive and the change is happening. I don't see the iOS app market collapsing due to over saturation caused by f2p. The top performing games are f2p titles and the pressure is on those developers who charge for an upfront price, because consumers now expect to play a base version of the game for free.

Portugal (we're going to play against Russia probably, and I think we can easily win that game)

After having watched Russia's first match I'm not sure if I can agree with that.

I hope Crytek will actually try something new other than the "freemium" model... The F2P market is a bubble, everyone is making those games and it will be hard to capitalize in the future.

btw. I have read an interesting discussion between Cliffski and Nicholas Lovell on the subject not too long ago. Each of them brings up valid pros and cons, you can read it here: http://positech.co.uk/cliffsblog/2012/0 ... he-debate/

    DEN - NED: Surprising 1:0

    GER - POR: Lucky 1:0

The German team will have to kick it up a notch if they want to go far.

Spain vs Italy is an interesting match-up and about to go on now.

This game is as hardcore as they get. The only thing keeping me from trying it is that Arma II was so buggy it was pretty much unplayable. At least shortly after launch and I never bothered to re-install it.

It's like having someone yelling in your ear how to play. "Shoot that guy! Yeah, right there! Take a right!" They don't even try to frame it in a way that would make sense, like someone guiding them from afar.

Ugh no people on the radio commanding me what to do please. That has always been the easiest solution and has become such a cliché in FPS games.
