Came to hear to check if Mazzlebuns~ is OK as soon as I heard the news. I got love for the Hitman but I'm a little sad that IO never broke away from the success of that series and created a new sustainable franchise.

What's this? Furyo still sleeping on the job? I got your back!

So you think that publishers aren't looking to make more money? They want the exact same amount and are willing to offset any extra profit?
As mentioned above, if selling games at a lower price point will increase the bottom line, then yes - they will. Due to the inherent inflexibility of brick-and-mortar retail they will be less prone to experiment though. So if I had to place a bet, I'd also say that prices will remain the same. Maybe this way prices won't rise at least...
Quote from VilhamAs far as I'm aware Microsoft has control on pricing for their platform. If they weren't some of the smaller publishers probably would have already lowered their console game prices like they already do on PC.
Microsoft has different price tiers for XBLA, so you can't release your game at an arbitrary price on there, but are you sure about retail? Is there a rule that says "Retailers cannot sell XBOX 360 games for less than 59,99 € up to 3 months after release"? If you have a source, I'd be interested to read all about it.

They would if lowering the price of a game increases revenue by driving more sales? (And digital is cheaper so they actually won't loose money by cutting the price compared to how retail is now) It's what steam does, right? Or are those sales just steam being the "good guy", I think not.
I don't think MS genuinely cares about their consumers, but it's possible cheaper games align with making more money. I don't have an inside view on financials so I've no idea if it's actually feasible, I'm not counting on having cheaper games anyway but one can dream xD
Yeah the cheaper games bringing in more money method can work (as proven by steam), but if they are running a monopoly there is less motivation to do so, as the people that will buy games for their system don't have an alternative anyway.I can't quite follow you, so please help me out. Here's Microsoft's train of thought (the way I understand it): publishers don't see a penny of revenues generated by used game sales and pirated copies. To factor this in the price tags for new copies are as high as they are. Eliminating used game sales and piracy will give publishers the leverage to sell their games at a lower price point. Whether this will actually be done/have a positive effect on their profits remains to be seen, but as you pointed out correctly, Valve & publishers on Steam made good experiences with this. Valve suggested the price points and the publishers went with that or they didn't. I see Microsoft's role to be quite similar and don't understand how XBOX One is a monopoly that is going to pull all strings on pricing. Games are still going to be published by other parties and discs are still going to be sold at retailers.

Some interesting takes from one of the Microsoft engineers (allegedly):

I'd like to re-emphasize that not all online multiplayer games on PS4 will require PS+.
QuoteFurthermore, free-to-play games won't require PlayStation Plus for online multiplayer. During a separate roundtable Joystiq was present at, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida said, "As far as free-to-play games are concerned, it's the publisher's decision whether they put it inside or outside of PS Plus."
-
Don't worry, F2P games won't require a PS+ membership to be played: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/12/pla…es-dont-requir/
I mean, that's what you were concerned about, am I right?

Waiting for this or (a similar story) to be picked up by the mainstream press:
http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/JayJohns…_deployment.php
QuoteBut, the reason that I am so infuriated about it is that I, and my brothers and sisters in arms, will not ever be able to play Xbox One when deployed or on detachment. No longer will the sounds of Master Chief saving the human race echo through the hallowed halls of the USS Abraham Lincoln, or any other USS Ship, when we have a few hours respite. No longer will you see Marcus and Dom sawing through the Locust Horde at the bases in Afghanistan after the Marines have returned from patrol and want to escape their reality for a bit.
Microsoft is letting down America's troops. That's a headline you don't want.

I've been playing "Don't Starve" the past few days and it's really something. I dig survival games that don't require you to kill zombies with a lawnmover or find out why the ghost of the spooky young girl can't rest in peace.

Already watched a lot of seasons of BBT, forgot to mention that. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll check out The Killing first!

Experts of quality TV entertainment, I've watched following shows in recent times: Dexter, Breaking Bad, Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, House of Cards, The Walking Dead. I am currently watching the ongoing seasons of Game of Thrones and Mad Men
What other shows can you recommend? I tried Newsroom - but didn't get into it after the first episode. Should I give it another try?
P.S. Sitcoms such as HIMYM, New Girl, Modern Family I've seen as well. Not a big 'Community' fan.

dragon dragon dragon

First one was splendid though, so of course I'm going to watch it.

Btw. where are the Kinect 2.0 games? Not that I'm waiting for them, but after all the drivel about how it is so much better now, I expected to see some games using it. I mean, if not Ryse - what else?
-
I've seen blade servers that look better than this.

Ahh got ya
I guess more believable, realistic dialogues in SP games wouldn't hurt either, t'is true. -
I don't understand you guys sometimes. I was happy that this is Multiplayer/Co-Op and not another boring, scripted hollywood-esque singleplayer title. This goes especially for the dialogues.

some new e3 footage (I know it's not big compared to the announcements but hey)
hehe is that a Schwarzenegger voice I hear in that first video (during the boss fight)? Looks cool for fans of the original and fans of Serious Sam and the like. The marketing director sounds very..."enthusiastic"
Don't let those showfloor demos wear you out! -
It's like a MMOFPSRPG - I'm excited!
