Can't you hotlink the images on the forum instead, I don't want to browse ModDB, it's too slow and awkward

    It looks nice though

Not sure if you've looked into this, Blendmodulatetexture, I think you could get a lot better blending between the rock and sand.

Also the sand is too bland, get some variation in there (extra blend material + overlay textures)

Also I think your shadows are too contrasty, bring the ambient up, and also increase the sun strength. Uncharted 3 desert is amazing

Oh? They support PS3 pads too?

Gave it a quick try here at work, the interface is perfect! Really nice and sleek.

Yeah you can use a program called MotioninJoy to set it up to work with your PS3 controller. I lost my xbox-pad in a move and tried it out instead, works great, though I've only used it with the usb-cable attached. Tutorial on how to set it up

Tried it out for a min, super sleek interface, and so fast to boot/navigate

Now I need to find a USB-bluetooth adapter to be able to use the wireless ps3-controller with the pc. This is awesome.

Well it's a lot easier to give insight on more detailed questions

    Do's

    Save often.

Create incremental saves often as sometimes level files gets fucked up

Learn the displacement tool properly, it can be used for a lot of stuff that is not boring hills that looks like HL1 tri-soup terrain

    Learn the hotkeys : https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wik ... _Reference

Do not create a big hollow box because 'you will think of optimization later on' - build the skeleton properly from the start.

    Dont's

Do not ragequit when trying to use the model browser, keep at it.
