Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker were absolutely killer games, although the former has aged too much to be enjoyable IMO. Wind Waker still stands strong though, its near-perfect visuals only marred by a low resolution. I didn't like Twilight Princess so much.

If nothing else you should play HP for the art, HP! It was a masterclass in getting beautiful visuals out of relatively simple ingredients. To me it looks like they literally hand-painted every texture for every situation, as everything lines up freakishly well and with a true artist's eye.

    lmao.

You can click the big icon on the left of the forum row to mark it as read. I should/will figure out how to make it always appear unread, though.

Sega is starting to get quite the strategy game portfolio going, seems like a good match for Relic.

Too bad about Vigil, never played any of the Darksiders games, but they seem like a good dev ~

Darksiders is a quality game so long as you go in with right expections. A slightly more linear Zelda with an angels/demons backstory is pretty much as accurate as I can get.

It feels like a lot of inspiration was taken from Zelda, like right now we're in a maze-like fire/lava dungeon solving puzzle rooms to get keys to the boss on top of the tower. Also have a boomerang-type weapon, floaty wings, and I'm sure a hookshot is just a matter of time. Admittedly there is a long intro to get through before it goes into Zelda mode though, which can give the impression it's more Devil May Cry-like when it's really not.

Love the art too. Initially I thought it was a bit flat-looking, but I realised it's more stylised like Zelda and the indoor dungeons look truly beautiful. Great character design too.

Too bad it's the Wii, I tried to play the other Zelda on the Wii and just gave up because of the motion control rather detracting from the game

Yeah the Wii U is a whole new console dude... doesn't even come with a motion controller.

Aye, been very happy with it. It certainly renders things in a unique way, and the performance in low light/high ISOs is far better than I've had in the past. That dog for example was taken at 3200, which is pretty good as far as my experience with APS-C cameras goes.

Still, plenty of learning about the actual photography side of it to come. Need to start going to beautiful locations so I can get some proper environmental photography done, HP is my inspiration there.

Few more from over Christmas. Was my first opportunity to try and get to grips with my new cam, could have done better (had some retarded shooting options set) but that's part of the fun I guess!

Yeah the temptation to delete all your shots because you don't think you took a good enough photo is a problem I'm trying to overcome too. Often I'll immediately wipe out a photo that captures a really cute moment my family would love to keep because I screwed up the focus or something.

I've found that using Lightroom to organise everything helps. You can flag photos as 'keepers', so I tend to use that feature to mark the few I'm truly happy with, leave the rest unflagged, and outright remove (but keep on my HD) the ones that are really unremarkable. That way I have my prime photos for putting on Flickr or something, and an extended collection for friends/family to go through on my computer or on Facebook if they wish.

The girl played through the demo recently and it looked really good to me. Excellent, even.

I never played the old DmC games but I always saw them as being a little too intricate for me, the same thing that I thought when I played Bayonetta and Castlevania: LoS. I suspect people who love beat-em-up games would find these kind of things most appealing, but I prefer a more casual approach as seen in things like God of War and Heavenly Sword.

So it's clear who this game is aimed at: not the die-hard fans who love sophisticated combos and chains. If that's what you're looking for you might as well not bother because I didn't see much of that (which delighted me). It's definitely more for someone who enjoys a bit of hack-and-slash but doesn't want it to be too challenging and fiddly. A bit like Uncharted, then — gives someone a good story-led shooter experience without piling it on too much.

I guess it sucks for old DmC fans that their series has been changed, and I bet there's a lot of uproar and predisposed hate in those circles as a result. But I've had to deal with my beloved Metal Gear Solid series getting shitty diversions so it's not the end of the world. There's always Bayonetta and its looming sequel (ON THE WII U LMAO).

Good to hear the encouragement guys, always nice to know they were enjoyed!

I had something come up at the weekend which involved carrying a gigantic washing machine around, so I've put aside tonight and/or tomorrow night to get this feature stuff done.

Beefeater, the system I have in mind is based on the forum editor but that, the PM editor, and the actual feature editor are all identical — the content just shows up a bit differently afterwards (example: attachments aligned to right). So you can more or less craft a whole formatted article if you want, alternatively just do it as text and I can format.

Anyway it should make things easier as there'll be a clear invitation and process to contribute, and hopefully the resuming flow of articles will make people want to get involved. I'll also dig out the held article mentioned above to go with the upcoming ones.

There's a "display name history" in the profile settings. If I want to rename myself to (e.g.) anal bead, how do I go about doing that?

Currently only admins can execute the change, I'll see about changing it so you guys can do it (once every six months) when I get a moment.
