Why not a new zelda rather than an upgrade of the lighting engine ;(

Why not both? (They said they are making a new zelda, and while we're waiting for it we can play this HD remake).

I never played any Zelda, never was much of a Nintendo guy. I tried to get into twilight princess, played around 4 hours of it and let it go, i really can't see what the appeal is. (maybe I should have fought through the first few hours of the game, but whatever)

With that being said, is skyward sword any good?

I haven't played skyward Sword, to me it doesn't 'look' good, and it being the lowest scoring big Zelda game I am put off. I highly recommend starting at Ocarina of Time, Get a 3DS just to play it. Majoras Mask is probably my favourite, so dark, a huge contrast compared to WW, yet I love both. Twilight Princess didn't do it for me, it was good whilst it lasted, which wasn't long enough, there was very little to do compared to previous ones.

    Just do it Helder

I don't know about skyward sword but if you don't play ocarina of time you're a total douche

Twlight princess is pretty good but indeed takes a while to take off. Not really a fun of the murky graphics so I'd say to skip that one and go play any of the other Zeldas. The ones on the DS are fantastic too.

Ocarina of time was just this monster of a game. You start off doing nothing and grow up with link from childhood and travel this giant fucking world, it's nuts.

Where as LTTP was straight up hero shit out the gate, raiding a dungeon in the middle of the night, escorting a princess and busting out. Escaping through the sewers and leaving the church and the world theme kicking in is the best moment in games pretty much.

That's how you start a game.

Also wind waker has the best zelda title theme only after link to the past.

Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker were absolutely killer games, although the former has aged too much to be enjoyable IMO. Wind Waker still stands strong though, its near-perfect visuals only marred by a low resolution. I didn't like Twilight Princess so much.

If nothing else you should play HP for the art, HP! It was a masterclass in getting beautiful visuals out of relatively simple ingredients. To me it looks like they literally hand-painted every texture for every situation, as everything lines up freakishly well and with a true artist's eye.

God damn you proper had me head bopping and being all nostalgic listening to that. Good job nobody is at work!

But yes, play OOT, such a great game and the world is wonderful! MM is very dark compared to the other Zelda's and the use of time in the game is awesome. WW is probably one of my favourites out of all of the Zeldas, as Thrik said it still looks great today and the sailing part of the game is actually really enjoyable! I love just exploring each grid on the map to see what was around.

I played TP to the end, I got to the last boss then just stopped playing it for some reason, I never enjoyed it as much as the other Zelda's. I've not tried SS as it didn't look very good to me, am I wrong?

That Wind Waker track is so fucking awesome. I don't remember it being so orchestral and epic. Mind you, I didn't stay on the menu screen for this long..............

All the Zelda games start out fairly weak to be honest. You have to jump through all these hoops before you are given your toolkit and allowed to explore. It's more tedious if you've played a Zelda game before because this period gets longer each time. For instance in Wind Waker you have all these rubbish opening stealth sections and have to run up a mountain path eight times before they give you the damn boat. But then you’re finally free to set sail in the large, featureless ocean.

I have never played Skyward Sword, it might be the shizzle, but I can recommend A Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening, Ocarina of Time.
