Pls.

Haha awesome, apparently entering the Konami code on the start screen enabled 1999 mode without having to finish the game first.
Although that will be way too hard for me, regular BioShock 1 drove me crazy. -
Oh yeah, and I finished regular Dishonored for the first time last week. Such an incredible game, definitely one of this generation's best. When a world is so lovingly and believably built like that you just can't help but fall for it.
Regarding the ending:
QuoteWhile I made a pretty weak effort to be good, I clearly killed too much and ended up with a medium chaos ending. I have to say, it makes for the most cinematic and awesome climax by far. Based on others' comments the good ending ends really abruptly, whereas my ending was fucking awesome.
Once I broke into the lighthouse fortress, Pendleton and the Overseer dude were having a firefight and screaming at each other. After I eventually figured out how to deal with them — the Overseer committed suicide and Pendleton was already dying when I got to him, but not in too much pain to insult me for fucking the Empress — I made my way up to the lighthouse only to find it empty, which was really creepy with the rain drumming on the glass above.
Then I climbed up onto the roof of the lighthouse and found the Admiral screaming at Emily right on the edge, going on about how they've got to go down in history by dying, etc. By this point I was like 'holy shit this is amazing' with all the rain and lightning, and the city in flames in the background. Then I realised I needed to intervene, so I ran towards them. But as I did the Admiral just grabbed her and slowly fell backwards to their doom.
Fuck man. That was so cool. It was just a perfectly paced ending that felt like the cinematic climax the game deserved. It really did feel like everything had just broken down into a chaotic mess with everybody screaming and going crazy, which is kind of the point I guess.
Then of course I reloaded and climbed across the roof's scaffolding to get behind him and took him out non-lethally, resulting in a kind-of-shitty ending where Emily ruled as a bit of a bitch but the plague was implied to have been beaten.

Edit: Added more thoughts about the ending.

Nice. I can't deny that I really enjoyed both predecessors, although it's funny just how incredibly different they are. Wonder which one this will most resemble. I really liked the Nazi-esque themes and the art direction of #2.

Official name and site have been revealed for the Double Fine adventure game that you may have heard got funded last year on Kickstarter. Even though I backed it I've intentionally stayed away from the development information available to backers, so I literally know nothing about it.
There's very little on the site right now, just some hints really. Loving the look of the art style, and the story sounds a lot more intriguing than I expected. Based on the blurb alone this is the kind of story I want to experience. The fact that the collective power of Double Fine is behind it seals the deal.
QuoteBroken Age is a point-and-click adventure telling the stories of a young boy and girl leading parallel lives. The girl has been chosen by her village to be sacrificed to a terrible monster--but she decides to fight back. Meanwhile, a boy on a spaceship is living a solitary life under the care of a motherly computer, but he wants to break free to lead adventures and do good in the world. Adventures ensue.

That forum was retired due to low use, just post it in the 2D or 3D forum as appropriate.

-
srsly. Very excited that some proper DLC is coming.
! -
Ah, yeah poisoning the elixir caused me some problems later on and made it impossible to do the Pendletons non-lethally. I'm guessing that was the last you saw of the old woman if you didn't help her? If you do, that changes later in the game...

So, Dishonored. SHIEEEEET that was a good game! I really got into the story and characters of that, excellent writing and the climax was downright cinematic — despite never taking control away from you. Shows how great games can be when the developers don't wrestle control away from the player during the coolest moments. And the art... o my gad, the art.
This trailer is now much cooler after having finished the game:

lmao awesome. Every time I think I can live without this game for a while you draw me back in.

Looks absolutely splendid. The ghost walkthrough is very Metal Gear Solid: making a whistle to attract enemies, having a robot to send around to scout the area and do takedowns, and just the general approach. This is great as I need a serious stealth game to satisfy my urges and MGS is still kind of the king in that respect.

Moved this for you. The unpaid recruitment forum was retired as it wasn't getting enough use.

OK I'll look into SSDs. Don't really know anything about them but I do know that having a big regular HD for storage and an SSD as the main operating system/application drive is great for performance, right?
Zacker, interesting thought. I assumed that going mid-range with CPU would be a good plan for gaming, but if games aren't really making use of that extra power I'll see how much cheaper I can go without losing significant performance.

My current computer is a big, sweating mess that's been running on fumes for some time now. My hard drive is almost full, games like Anno 2070 (sweet-looking SimCity alternative by the way) bring it to a grinding halt, and it is essentially well and truly spent. Time to upgrade.
I've done some research and shopping, and have found a wonderful selection of parts I believe will serve as excellent ingredients for the new hub of Thrik. But have I made the right decisions? Could I get far better performance by spending just a little more? Do I deserve a slap for my choices?
It's always hard deciding what the cut-off point should be, where satisfactory performance is attained without breaking the bank. So without further ado, I present:
- 1 serving of Intel Core i5-3570K CPU (4 x 3.40GHz)
- 1 dash of AMD Radeon 7870 (2GB)
- 1 piece of Corsair Vengeance RAM (8GB DDR3 1600MHz)
- 1 smattering of ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP Motherboard
- 1 chunk of Seagate 3TB Barracuda
I'm yet to choose a case but it'll just be a ~£50 one, and I already have a good power supply and DVD writer. No interest in overclocking, but I've gone for a single 8GB RAM stick so I can go up to 16GB easily at some point.
Mainly just wondering if I've made wise decisions about the above, validate or crush me — it's all good.

' timestamp='1363735085' post='326859']FUUUUUCK, such an amazing art direction! One of the toughest things to do is capture that one look that really makes your game standout, that one identity that is so distinct that even a single screenshot, a single asset or even a single texture will be tied to your overall vision of the art direction of your game and everyone will know what game is it from. And I honestly believe IG really nailed this with both Bioshock1 and Bioshock Infinite.
I love the tonality of that blue sky and the warm orange of the sun and how it plays with the purple ambient shadows!

He supported Double Fine when nobody else would and got Brutal Legend out the door, can't hate on the guy too much.

I thought BF3 was absolutely splendid, although I feel like I've missed out by not getting the newer as they look a lot more BF2142-ish (king of Battlefield games). Might just wait for BF4 instead unless it turns out to be a heaving mess of vomit.
