The game looks amazing but I agree that hearing Jack Bauer was really taking me out of it. I'm so used to Snake's voice and this one is just too different. Having a different actor to Hayter is one thing, but one who literally sounds nothing like Snake ever did? I really hope I can get used to it if this isn't some hoax. And FUCK Ocelot is back.

Now I want to go on a big MGS marathon.

Clarify Puddy. If you know of any examples where mods got banned even though they were totally legal I would love to know about it.

They're not against it and welcome it if it is done in a legal way, they just don't supply the tools. That's not the same as opposing it.

Embracing it would mean fully supporting and encouraging it, I think it's fair to say EA doesn't do that.

I think you misunderstood me. I was disappointed that it wasn't that style of dialogue in a single-player game because I thought it might be a step towards having less retarded-sounding dialogue in action games.

The game still looks great, but that particular aspect is irrelevant because I seriously can't imagine people will communicate that much or in that much of an 'in fiction' way in the real world. More often than not you'll probably end up paired with a squeaky teenage kid munching on crisps down his microphone unless you play with friends.

This looks great, another game Tom Clancy had little to do with.

Weirdly I liked the dialogue, at first I thought it was single-player stuff and I was thinking that it felt pretty realistic having them talk about what's going on without the usual bombastic Hollywood vigour that such voice acting normally has in games. I was even thinking that it made the woman seem more human rather than some NPC I don't care about.

Then I realised it was just co-op and I was like .

Looks like I missed a video that went up a few months ago showing the PS4's UI and non-gaming features a bit more.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=…d&v=SvHft2UJrGY

    There's some pretty smart shit:

    • Ability to play games while they download (wat the fak)
    • Always-on video recording like that NVIDIA thing announced recently
    • Twitch-like streaming of your game in a chat room, with ability to take over the player's controller to help them (WAT THE FAK)
    • Full integration with tablets, phones, computers, etc
    • Pre-downloading of games and DLC the console thinks you might want, so when you purchase there's no waiting

I really like the idea of how integrated this is with other platforms. Being able to easily share stuff on forums and stuff is a great thing, rather than it all being locked up in the console's ecosystem. I've used the PS3's screenshot feature a bunch of times but it feels so pointless when it's all stuck on my PS3. Being able to share not videos, statuses and screenshots while I'm playing, etc is something I can see myself doing, especially if it can hook into Facebook and Twatter. It could end up being a really popular new gaming-focused 'blog' platform if they get the web-based stuff right.

That guy is a bit unsettling though, lol.

I think 'fucking expensive' sums it up. I'm amazed that Sony have not just matched but undercut the XBone. All the early advantages that helped MS to do so well during the last generation are totally gone this time. I think they seriously underestimated Sony's ability to learn from its mistakes. If Sony manage to get the PS4 out just before the XBone that'll be the icing on the cake.

Has anyone seen any good videos that properly show all the UI in the PS4? The only one I've been able to find is this but I'd rather see something more in-depth:

It looks good, I especially like that they've integrated the mouse-like pointing into the main UI. Also the easy cross-device sharing of videos, messages, etc is nice, and the fact that all the features can run in the background is a big step forwards from the PS3's relatively shit 'you can't do anything while gaming, playing music, or watching a show' approach. It was always nicer that you could do some things in the background with the 360.

Even after Microsoft's repeated redesigns I still think the PS3 is better at playing music, photos, videos, DVDs, etc. But I'm hoping for a big jump forwards in terms of browsing and categorising those things. The PS3 doesn't read any of your file tags so you can't sort by artist, search, etc. Multimedia functionality has always been Sony's 'thing' so I expect they'll be working hard to beat Microsoft in that regard despite their marketing being focused more on games. After all, the PS3 already allows you to use Netflix, Hulu, iPlayer, etc.

I'm very surprised by the rumours that Sony won't be including the camera with the system. I think most people will end up getting one anyway — especially if developers mandate it — but it's such a good thing to have around it seems bizarre to leave it out. Even in that video above its usefulness is obvious.

That said, I don't think it's been confirmed. Kotaku's 'journalism' seems to be limited to reading the official Sony press release, which does say that the camera is a separate accessory, but it also says the regular DualShock is in the same section and there's no way that's not included. I'll get one either way but I'd like to see it included so it has as much chance to be supported by games as possible, I want this shit in my shooters.

Some of this MMO stuff sounds weird seeing as it's a single-player or at least story-based game, but I'm hoping they know what they're doing because this universe looks awesome.

    This got me cracking up

    ROFLMAO!!!!!

Ah man, that is gold. It's the crowd reactions, when they're chanting 'Sony! Sony! Sony!'. I'm guessing that a lot of pants were being filled with shit by Microsoft employees during the presentation.

With Sony's position confirmed it now makes MIcrosoft look even more ridiculous than before. The only thing they could do to save face at this point is pull out of their plans, there's no way they can sell it with Sony using it against them.

You have to wonder... WTF were Microsoft thinking?????

I'd say there's a lot of influence from Android too. I'm kind of sad to see the old texture-filled designs gone, but this new stuff does look great IMO. I enjoyed Android's simplicity but the usability of it was pretty annoying in places, not something Apple has ever really had problems with.

I see what you're saying HP, definitely more colour in the original. That said, the new style looks significantly better to me — I also can't believe how primitive ME1 looks now in comparison. It once looked so amazing.

I think as long as they maintain the main point of the colour, which is to give the player clear direction, it'll work great.
