I did weights on three machines and six minutes of weighted step-ups on Friday and my body is still aching all over.

Oh god, that last screenshot is why I will probably never get into MMORPGs and just stick with Skyrim.

Haha. If you are serious and not some scammer/bot moldy then I would recommend providing some more information and ideas. There are a lot of guys here perfectly capable of making a map by themselves so unless you're needing help with a particular problem or need some textures or something...

Yep Crysis UI was on fire, the way it handled weapons was so awesome.

I remember they tried to eliminate all HUD elements and such from Grim Fandango. Adventure games were traditionally more like this:

Whereas Grim Fandango was like this:

You got around using the arrow keys on your keyboard, not by clicking to walk to places. Instead of clicking on items, the main character would point his head towards them as you went near them, and a key let you switch between multiple targets in one area.

Talking and interacting were separate buttons. The only time you really saw a HUD was when choosing dialogue options. The inventory was represented like this — he'd basically just get each item out of his pocket as you pressed left and right.

It really did make the game a lot more immersive not having icons and shit everywhere. So simple yet so effective, although purists missed their classic pointing and clicking I recall. Unfortunately the adventure game genre more or less ended on a high right there anyway.

BTW just looking at those made me stupidly nostalgic and I now want to play them. Wish they'd do a HD remaster of Grim.

lol. I don't think even Pixar uses 100% unique textures for every square inch of the world.

I've personally really been enjoying Skyrim's (console) UI. It's very easy for RPGs to end up with clutter dripping out their asses yet Skyrim manages to show you exactly what you need when you need it. Also the menus for managing inventory, magic, etc are sublime (although different on PC I think).

Some cues were taken from Fable I suspect, which typical of Lionhead games had a lot of thought put into its UI.

There've been a few sweet HL2 fan movies I've seen now but have any good HL1 ones ever been made?

Romero should get in on it too, I don't think he's having so much success with his browser/mobile game gig.

You should be able to just make a regular link like this. It only intercepts when the address is in the post itself.

Gonna be honest, I don't want to be doing all that moving about shit in my living room lol. The virtual reality stuff I'm totally behind though, especially if it allows me to finally experience immersive 3D (glasses tend to be iffy for me as my left eye is a bit weak, I think the isolation of the Oculus Rift will solve that problem).

A lot of it is programming (writing code). If the original game has its source code available then you edit it — the same as making any game really, except you're modifying an existing one.

Unless I'm mistaken all current Source games are effectively 'mods' of the Source version chosen for the project (there are numerous versions of Source going back to Half-Life 2). I've seen mods for CS:GO listed on Mod DB so I guess it must be possible.

Nice. I think it's fair to say that Carmack has got this shit, and that it'll be incredible beyond imagination within a year or so.

Love Thor. Was hoping to see a bit more of the real villain, Ecclestone is so great. Least we heard his voice (I think).

I can imagine it being a bit of a brain jolt having to use the right stick to control a character after years of being conditioned to use the left stick. On top of that, you're having to control two characters at once which is a whole extra level of brain use in itself. I wonder if it has any implications for left/right sides of brain and if certain people can handle it better than others.

This looks really awesome, and its 360 release date is now! I thought it was some random indie thing at first but it's actually by Starbreeze.

I love the concept of controlling two characters at once using the same pad, I can't think of any game that's successfully done that before. Graphically it looks gorgeous, too. All they need are some deep and emotional moments that draw out feels like Journey and this will be a serious winner.

Too preoccupied with Skyrim right now but I'll definitely pick this up.
