Looks great to me. I didn't really like Captain America, it felt like way too many things weren't fleshed out properly and I never really cared about its villain despite him being one of my favourite actors. I dunno, it really didn't do anything for me. However I've absolutely loved every single other film in the new Avengers universe so I'm hopeful that was just a blip.

It'll be nice if we get to see a lot more of what makes SHIELD tick because it has been very enigmatic for some time now. Only Avengers shed any real light on it and that was still limited. I don't know shit about the comic lore but I was surprised to see three of the gigantic ships from Avengers in this trailer in seemingly populated areas. I guess SHIELD has become much less secretive since Avengers, lol.

Sounds like pretty bad form marks. The fact that they've tried to lay all the blame at the feet of their (now laid-off staff) makes me think that they're probably assholes. You shouldn't do that in any circumstances, period. You're the captain of the ship and it's your responsibility what goes out the fucking door. The place going under is probably for the best, just a shame about the project that their staff presumably put a lot of love into.

Switching between resolutions while in the middle of play would be extremely noticeable on any TV above about 36 inches so I definitely hope that doesn't ever happen. That sounds incredibly distracting to me, especially with static elements like HUDs. If I had to choose, I'd always take an FPS drop before a resolution drop so long as it doesn't go below 30 FPS.

    Yeah that's pretty unfortunate.

Here's a video showing it for anyone wanting to see:

Hahaha oh man, the genuine disappointment in his voice... you see, this is why it was such a horrible thing to do. Can you imagine something like that happening in Half-Life 2 when you walk through a door in Black Mesa East or some shit?

What is that flash of art that appears just before the text comes up, btw? Is it the loading screen imagery or some lazily hidden stuff that was meant to come next?

Anyone else super disappointed that after 8 years of being stuck with the same consoles the next-gen consoles can't do 1080p and 60 FPS for all titles while still looking as good as current day PC titles? I guess my expectations were somewhat unrealistic but I figured it was possible if you turn off some of the fancy stuff.

Dunno, perhaps I'm just too bitter but doesn't look like they'll be able to keep up for a decade when they start out crippled at 720 and 900p resolutions (definitely the Xbone). Sure, games will look better once we figure out the tech but what good is it when it looks awesome but jitters like crazy and has flickering edges everywhere. Then again... Halo 4 looked absolutely amazing so there's that.

I'm hyped about some of the exclusives that are coming out in the next years but I'm just hyped about the games themselves, not really the hardware they're running on :s

I'm waiting and seeing, but I'll be legitimately disappointed if current-gen games don't start adopting 1080p as a widespread standard. I can live with a sub-60 frame rate (even if not ideal), but I think games' visuals really come alive at 1080p and after playing a bunch of PC games at that resolution on my TV I realise that it looks so much better than 720p if your TV is pretty big.

I know that some big games like Titanfall are 1080p/60FPS though, and I think PlanetSide 2 is at least aiming for 1080p. I've also read that Sony is actively pushing 1080p/60FPS. So if some successful AAA games start making it a standard we may be in luck.

I wrote more about this once here.

What a load of complete shit. This whole situation could have been avoided if they'd just clearly marked the game as being an episode, first instalment, or something. Anything is better than misleading people into thinking a game is a full story experience, only for them to be blindsided by it ending out of nowhere without so much as a cinematic or piece of art.

IMO no blame at all can be aimed at the actual developmers, only the leaders and/or marketing fools who thought they'd get away with this rather than just being open and transparent with people. They've ruined what chance the game had of still being a small success.

Neither console's launch line-up really speaks to me that much, but that's kind of normal. It's certainly a lot stronger than the absolute shit the 360 and PS3 launched with at least. I have to admit though, Zoo Tycoon being a launch title on the XBone is a bit of a fuck. If it gets amazing reviews I'm going to be financially raped very soon.

I think my first games will be Killzone, Battlefield, and Ass Creed. Interesting to see Minecraft on there, I bet that'll get a lot of sales seeing as many people have heard of it but never tried it (never been on PlayStation until now).

It's probably not ideal that it's launching at virtually the same time as GHOSTS.

I'll split it when I'm on my computer.

Going back to the original point though, Sentura was just saying that it'd be cool if a load of super-experienced developers got together with a huge budget and made an indie game. Then someone gave an example of a game kind of like that, and someone else started saying that game isn't really indie... but it did fit Sentura's original point, which is what I was saying.

Obviously I'm aware of the different definitions of indie (as silly as it might be), it's just that the point that was made in the first place made it quite clear which one was meant. Unless you're trying to say that above a certain team size/budget you can no longer be considered indie, in which case I guess Sentura's scenario is impossible.

On a personal note though, it delights me to see dens of creativity like Double Fine and the Star Citizen guys controlling their own destiny and making the games they want to. They're the ultimate indie success stories to aspire to IMO and I hope it becomes much more common that developers answer to themselves and their fans.

Crytek is entirely self/crowd-funded? I didn't know that, but if it is that definitely counts as indie.

Double Fine is making their adventure game with a pretty big team, but it's entirely self/crowd-funded and very much 'indie-style'. Would you say that counts? What about Sony-funded games like Flower and Journey?

How isn't it indie? Assuming we mean 'indie' as in 'independent', thus total creative control (the definition I think Sentura meant).
