  • New Netflix Interface is terrible!

I guess I'll see what I think when I get chance to hit the TV tomorrow.

One thing that has irritated me about Netflix on the PS3 is the fact that you can't easily just view everything, or even a whole category. It only shows 75 from a category and there's no way to view more. Unless more categories appear (sometimes it adds things like 'visually striking horror'), you have to 100% rely on search or recommendations to find stuff. There's no way for me to just see a list of every horror film, or every US TV show, etc.

If they've fixed that I'll be happy. Probably not, lol.

Agreed. Now is the time to sell people on the new Uncharted and by extension the PS4, not in some indeterminate number of months. If Sony knows what it's doing, it'll be literally jizzing announcements and videos upon us during the next month or so before Christmas. Same for Microsoft, I guess.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not one of those who this kind of activity infuriates, I just find it bewilderingly sad that these guys get a genuine massive buzz out of doing this kind of thing more than going and giving it to some young kid who doesn't have a hope in hell of getting a PS4 any time soon.

It's a sign that they exist in a society that's more easy and forgiving than they deserve — time to flip life into 'hard mode' for them and ship them off to live in North Korea.

Haha awesome. I love how utterly random yet captivating Anderon's movies are. Speaking of which, the next one looks great.

Uh oh. I only just got into using Netflix (on my PS3) a couple of weeks ago and was really liking it. What's changed?

Ah man, the fuckin' Christmas ads are out in full force now. I have to admit that John Lewis' one from last year still touches my cold heart:

They did one for this year too. It's great in terms of art (Disney animators for characters + Tim Burton animators for backgrounds...!) but doesn't get me so much in the feels:

Turns out that Xbox image is legit. On the one hand it's nice to think they're good sports, but then it's probably in reality a meticulously designed plan to attract attention to the Xbox brand by getting everyone talking about that picture rather than the PS4.

Uncharted 2 was amazing. Uncharted 3 was also amazing, but did rehash a lot of stuff from UC2. If you'd never played its predecessor I think UC3 would have blown anyone's mind.

I hope this isn't a reboot but is as much of an incredible leap forward as UC2 was to UC1. Maybe focus on new main characters but exist within the same world? I absolutely love the characters and wit in Uncharted, and believe that to be at least 75% of the secret to its success.

The games industry has a history of undervaluing the importance of excellent writing, humour, and characters though so we'll see.

I'm delighted to see this return and have pimped it on Facebook and Twitter. The funding period seems kind of tight though, a lot of people might want to wait until their next pay day before backing (which could partially explain why some campaigns do very well in the final days) and at least in the UK that's usually 28th–10th. If it's not too late to extend it to a full month it might be worthwhile. Still, backing it right now.

I don't have any hate towards them, the review itself is excellent. I just think giving a console an overall score is silly, even more so than the way games are scored in general. How can you possibly say the PS4 is a 7/10 console while the XBone is a 9/10 console for example so early? And what would the Wii U be? Once you start talking about using the score to decide which to buy because it's the best it reveals how stupid it is to use scores in this context.

But I don't hate Polygon for it, I think they do a lot of great shit. Just wish we could get away from the obsession with scores, god damn...

lol have you seen the review Polygon did of the PS4? How can you attach a score to something like a console at this stage?

Also, holy shit how much web development budget has gone on that review alone?

I've decided to upgrade my PC and save getting a PS4 until far more games are out (i.e. in about a year or more). I did this with the PS3 and was overall happier, as I hate that draught of games at the beginning where you're so desperate to do something useful with your new console that you play the most shitty-ass party/demo games imaginable. It's a bit like when the Wii first came out, except the Wii's games never got any better.

Soon I will be able to join the elite PC gamer brothers and enjoy some Battlefield 4:

I was walking past Crytek UK's offices after going to the gym the other day and noticed the lights were still on during the evening. All the windows have anti-snooping shit on them so I looked through the door like this:

I'm yet to hold either, but I've always preferred the way Sony's pads feel. If I hold my hands completely limp, my thumbs pretty much perfectly line up with the thumb sticks. With the 360 pad, I have to move my left thumb upwards to fit on it. I've never really understood why some people prefer the asymmetry.

The PS3 has the same terms, it's probably just something they put in to cover their asses legally. How can it possibly be enforced without CD keys and/or forced activation — neither of which the PS3 or PS4 have?

As for the license thing, I'm pretty sure virtually all games have had a similar EULA clause or something for the past 10+ years.

More shit I saw about the stuttering on a benchmark site:

    Quote

Results clearly show that the game runs much better on Windows 8.1 than on Windows 7. When releasing Windows 8′s vanilla version, Microsoft announced better performance with multicore CPU’s, especially with AMD’s FX CPUs. What Microsoft said, Microsoft delivered. It is perfectly fine that new operating system brings better performance but we do not know why there is so much stuttering with Windows 7 OS. When we say stuttering we are not referring to frame drops or even Frametiming, we tested all that and it brought us nothing. We believe that Framerating techniques would show what the users and we as well have experienced, however at the time of testing we didn’t have adequate equipment to prove these claims but you can be sure that this is something we are going to be dealing with in the future.

There's no way I'm getting it until it drops in price though, I never really bother with Call of Duty multiplayer so paying full price just for the campaign is borderline mental case behaviour.
