Haven't yet played the first one :-/ I was tempted to install the other day but postponed as I was feeling the need for something casual. Also checking footage again, I was really bothered by the first-third person switch.

The art looks stunning again. Sci-fi nerds paradise.

A good measure of whether or not you might like the game is if you like Metal Gear Solid. Human Revolution definitely took a lot of cues from that series, and if played stealthily the two are remarkably similar in many ways. The storytelling and amount of dialogue/reading material also makes it ideal for the kind of people who can appreciate MGS.

If you haven't played MGS then all I can really say is that Human Revolution is probably one of a few games that comprise the absolute pinnacle of the last generation and games in general, and is an essential experience for any one likes shooting or stealth games of any description. It also escalates to some absolutely amazing environments later on in the game.

Really like it, chilling well made.

I just uploaded 2 new sounds to my soundcloud : https://soundcloud.com/simon_aublet , these are shorts prototype and mostly just composition with existing sample from Music Maker because i'm just not a musician What program are you using ? Do you have some midi library to share ? ^^

Whoops sorry, I missed this. I'll start following you on SoundCloud and listen when I can.

I use Logic Pro X. I must say that paired with a decent MIDI keyboard it's extremely good, probably the best music-related thing I've ever used and that includes the very expensive Yamaha workstation I used to have. What really separates it for me is the usability — we all know that Apple usually nails this — and the quality of the built-in instruments and especially synths, which I've used for everything I've done so far.

It's so good that I'd honestly say that many muscians would be best off buying a Mac Mini and this software (which is £150). I can only assume that Apple sells such excellent software for so cheap because they know you need their hardware too. It's easily as good as its £700+ competitors like Pro Tools, arguably better.

Been on a bit of a Ratatat kick today after finding all their albums lying around. Really love their electronica, no vocals in any of their stuff if you like that kind of thing. There's a lot of retro gaming sound stuff going on in their music too. Their albums LP4 and Classics are great starting points if you enjoy.

  • [Feature] Exploring Unreal Engine 4 Scripting: Part One

It’s no wonder Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) has been lauded as a designer-friendly engine, its new Blueprint visual scripting language empowers even those users with little coding knowledge to easily create interesting and complex systems.

On the other hand, UE4 has also been somewhat stripped of “default” content in order to emphasize the user-generated content located on Epic’s new marketplace. This tutorial series is designed to bring you up to speed on UE4 level-design by showing you how blueprints work and how you can create your very own blueprint building-blocks.

Merged the thread in the 'Portfolios' sub-forum with this one as it wasn't suitable for that forum, and also was more or less a duplicate.

    Sounds excellent dux.

Sorry to hear about the job situation Sprony, although as already said it'll be better for you in the long run. Sometimes a push is needed to finally move on from a job that pays but doesn't deliver happiness, I've been there — and was similarly in the middle of moving when it came along. But in hindsight it was one of the best things that ever happened to me, leading to me living in a better place, doing work I enjoy, and building a whole new social circle. Also I played a ton of Battlefield.

I admire your perseverance and always looking on the bright side.

It could just be the time of day, the console versions do look like that in the evening. Half of those aren't consistent so some shots look washed out, etc when really it's just the game's fog effect.

All this imagery makes me want to grab the PS4 version, but where the hell is some single-player DLC?? I played it to death, and while I could do the missions differently I really want a whole new narrative in this wonderful world.

Seems pretty cool to me. I always disliked the cinematic mod because it just threw Valve's art direction out of the window. It did some nice things, but so much was compromised that it wasn't worth it. It was like playing the game through the lens of sub-par fan art.

This update might not be suited to those looking for a new and breathtaking experience, but it looks like a tasteful and restrained polish that preserves the original game's qualities while fixing some of the shortcomings. The closest comparison is probably the HD re-releases of older games we see on consoles, which also tweak the lighting and image processing, in addition to resolving bugs.

Put a new piece o' music up today, Ghostly Pursuit. As the name implies, it's meant to be music accompanying a chase sequence involving some ghoulish bastard.

Gave Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt a punt on Netflix and holy crap it's good!

Yeah, I've been really enjoying this! A very unexpected hit. the humour is just so fast and punchy, I practically have to pause to catch my breath.

I've also continued watching Better Call Saul. Episode six was splendid. A sharp hit of Breaking Bad's dark tone that had previously eluded it. Although it's slightly telling that the most Broken Bad-esque episode so far featured almost no Saul.

Was an interesting season. I thought that where they went with various plotlines was excellent and sets up the potential for an incredible season four, but you guys are right there was a huge scaling-back of Frank's ruthlessness. In fact, while his furious anger occasionally showed through the cracks, you might say that he was very presidential.

    Quote

It's going to be fascinating seeing where the Frank/Claire conflict goes. It's too late/early for her to contend him as president as I thought might happen after she vomited early during the season, but I can definitely see her screwing with him politically. It's also good to see Doug back to what he does best, although holy shit that was a horrible conclusion to the Rachel storyline.

Sounds absolutely crazy. I'd enjoy seeing him do some new IP, but then MGS has consistently been amazing and pushed boundaries while also creating timeless nostalgia and ongoing stories I've been following since I was like 12. It actually being over for real is a sad thought.
